If we ever get another Encanto book I REALLY want it to be about Isabela and Dolores growing up as the new generation of madrigals, and all the pressure that comes with it. Although not directly focused on it’s made clear that Dolores holds some jealously towards Isabela, whether it be Mariano or the attention she receives over her. Like the tale of three sisters, I could see it switching between their POV’s starting from a young age before their siblings are born.

1 Year since Encanto was released!
Mirabel - She absolutely made this dress from scratch. Inspired by her gift ceremony dress, normal movie skirt and 50s wedding dresses. I have an OC of her future husband who likes dragonflies so I imagine she would embroider dragonflies and butterflies all over her dress.
Luisa - In ‘A Tale of Three Sisters’ it sounds like Luisa envies the pretty clothes that Isabela gets to wear, as she has to choose more practical clothes for her chores. I imagine she would take her wedding as an opportunity to wear something more feminine and comfortable so she can let loose and dance her little heart out. Based on her normal outfit.
Isabela - She would definitely want something a little more fashion forward and figure hugging. Her neckline resembling flower petals and the bottom of her dress resembling a huge blossom. I considered a flower crown but thought that would be a bit much as she doesn’t hold herself like a princess anymore, instead having a hairpiece made of vibrant succulents. Succulents are meant to represent enduring and timeless love.
Dolores - Okay so think about it...
 - first wedding of their generation
 - only daughter of Pepa and Felix
 - Pepa would have many feelings about making sure the wedding goes right
 - Dolores would probably thrive on not being second to Isabela for once
I feel like her wedding would be big. Big puffy dress based on her usual outfit, Pepa’s wedding dress and vintage wedding dresses. Necklace based on the symbols on Mariano’s shirt. The stripes on her stomach are the words I LOVE YOU as sound waves.

WDTAJN, Part 1: Memes/Comedy
This is the first part of a four-part fic for @wdtajn. Four visions that Bruno did not mean to have, and the truth they ultimately revealed.
In which Agustín, Félix, and Bruno get into trouble.
In the sand of Bruno's tower, in a solemn circle, sat Bruno, Agustín, and Félix. They sat in a ring with thoughtful expressions, not unlike the kind of ring formed by local hopefuls, who came to the tower for Bruno's visions of the future. But it was obvious on sight, to anyone who knew Bruno, that they weren't conducting any kind of vision of the future. Bruno was far too relaxed; he sat cross-legged, a plate of cocadas in his lap, chewing slowly as Agustín and Félix conferred, the pallor of his face looking tired and unhealthy. It was June 1, 1921, and Bruno was having one of those mornings.
"Chummy," said Agustín, "Behaving in a kind and pleasant way."
"Too early," said Félix, "Go forward a few."
Agustín paused to adjust his glasses. A battered book, old and clearly cherished, sat on his lap; he flicked through the pages of the Encanto's only English dictionary. Félix and Bruno watched eagerly as he read and translated.
"Chunk. A roughly cut piece: informally, a part of something, especially a large part."
"Large!" Félix snapped his fingers. "Like big. Could that be important?"
"I don't think it's that," muttered Bruno thoughtfully.
The three of them returned their solemn attention to the vision plate at the centre of the circle. It showed a strange, flat illustration, like one drawn for a child's book, of a smiling rabbit on two feet. Inscribed above it were the words:
BIG CHUNGUS
"Maybe it's Latin," said Agustín thoughtfully.
He shut the book with a snap, leaving them staring blankly at the vision, out of leads.
"Maybe it's just his name. He's a fat rabbit, he's big, so they call him Big Chungus. Like a fairy tale." Félix shook his head. "I'm telling you, man, not all these random visions have to mean anything."
"Yeah, well, if I knew what it did mean then we could know that for sure," groaned Bruno. "If Big Chungus is bad and it's coming for us, we're doomed. Or at least, I'm doomed, because Mamá is going to kill me for it. Yeesh!"
He unhappily threw a handful of salt over his shoulder. Agustín and Félix exchanged glances.
"I think he looks polite?" Agustín offered.
Bruno sighed heavily.
"I still think we can just hide this one from Doña Alma. What she doesn't know can't hurt her! She doesn't need to know about this one vision." Félix picked up the vision. "We could take it, smash it, maybe hide the pieces..."
"No!" Bruno's response was uncharacteristically forceful. "I mean, uhh, no. No, no smashing visions. If it becomes important later and I don't have it then -- then -- kn-kn-knock on wood..."
"Bruno," said Agustín gently, "I don't think Big Chungus is gonna be important later."
"Tell that to my mom," said Bruno bitterly. "You want to marry my sister? No destroying visions."
He sank back into the sand, as though the idea was enough to make him faint. Agustín and Félix leaned over to watch him.
"You stress out too much, my friend," said Félix.
"Tell me about it," muttered Bruno.
Agustín took one of the cocados from the plate. "Eat," he said, "Juli said it'd help. How's your head?"
"Bad." Bruno scowled as Agustín held a cocada over his face, as though offering to feed it to him. "I feel like I'm gonna have another vision."
"Well...that's good?" offered Félix. "Maybe it'll tell you more about Bigito."
They both looked at him.
"What?" said Félix defensively. "He's just a rabbit."
"He's got a point," said Agustín. "If you're gonna have a vision anyway, why don't you try focusing a little and see if you can figure him out? It can't hurt."
"It can hurt," said Bruno gloomily. "It can definitely hurt."
Nonetheless, they seemed to be making a dent in his attitude. He looked at the vision again, his brow furrowing doubtfully.
"I mean, days like this, you keep having visions, yeah?" said Félix. "You can't stop 'em, they make you sick, you might as well make 'em work for you."
Bruno hesitated. Agustín continued to hover over him, holding a cocada concernedly, and eventually Bruno rather grouchily opened his mouth and accepted it.
"Mmf," he said, through a mouthful of crumbs, "Wish I could turn 'em off."
He sat back up and held out his hands. Félix took one, Agustín the other, and the two men held hands to form a ring. Félix caught Bruno's eye and grinned.
"The Madrigal boys on a Saturday," said Félix.
"You don't know Pepa will marry you," chuckled Agustín.
"Please. With these lips? This ass?"
"What would I know about your ass?"
"You've seen enough of me, haven't you? And you tasted--"
Bruno threw back his head and gasped, shocking the other two into silence. His eyes, brightly ringed with emerald, stared vacantly at the ceiling; he tightened his grip on Agustín and Félix's hands, and they stared as a tornado of sand began to form in the centre of the ring.
"Bruno!" shouted Agustín, raising his voice over the wind. "You good? No pain?"
Bruno opened his mouth and no words escaped; an emerald glow from somewhere inside him shone from the back of his throat, spilling eerie light over his face. Agustín and Félix looked at each other, worried and doubtful, as the tornado swirled, showing no clear image of the future but just spiralling flurries of sand and light.
Then, with a pop!, it was over. As fast as it had started, the wind died, the same fell, and Bruno went limp again, only the hands of the other two men keeping him upright.
"Guhhh," he managed, as Agustín clicked his tongue at Félix and they supported him under the arms, laying him back in the sand.
"Are you okay?" said Félix, looking at his pale, sweating face and closed eyes. "Did it work? Do you feel better?"
"Julieta said that visions help relieve the pressure in his head," said Agustín, "Eat, Bruno, eat. What did you see?"
Bruno raised a hand, then weakly raised a finger, licked his lips, and said, "I knew... it meant... something bad would happen... to us."
Félix and Agustín looked black to the centre of the circle.
This vision had jagged edges and warped glass. It looked messy, but it was still clear to see, depicted in the two halves of the plate...
Félix clamped his hand over his mouth and suppressed a laugh as Agustín tried to shush him.
On one half, a miserable Bruno, older and even more tired. On the other, Agustín and Félix, older as well, with big confused smiles. In their hands were cards, in the background were lines, and they recognised only from books the image depicted.
They were being arrested. All three of them. Bruno was miserable. Félix and Agustín were laughing.
In the sand, Bruno slapped his eyes with his hands.
"That doesn't look so b-" began Agustín.
"We're going to jail," said Bruno, his voice hollow and scared. "I have to tell Mamá."
Agustín and Félix immediately stiffened. Félix jogged Bruno's elbow.
"Whoa, whoa, Bruno, this can't happen for years, right? And we're smiling in this vision, aren't we? It can't be -- I mean, your mom is gonna..."
"She has to know!" Bruno fixed his panicky eyes on Félix's. "We have to know when bad things are going to happen, how else can we be safe?!" Then, in a different, smaller voice: "I shouldn't have looked."
"Hey, Bruno, it's okay--" Agustín began, and Bruno suddenly sat up, startling both of them.
"Leave!" he said, his voice frantic and catching. "Don't you get it?! Seeing these visions will just make bad things happen! Jail, Mamá, whatever! Get out! Get out! S--" his voice wobbled. "Stop trying to feed me that cocada."
"Health is important," said Félix lamely, withdrawing the biscuit.
"Bruno, we can leave, no problem, it's your room," said Agustín, worried, "But you don't have to say that, I mean... you're our friend too, you know, and..."
"Thank you," said Bruno, looking and sounding fainter by the moment. "Thank you, thank you, thank you, but you should go, just go now, alright? I'll tell... I'll try... I'm sorry..."
"Brunito," said Félix, "Gordo, you don't have to..."
Agustín placed a hand on Félix's shoulder. "No, it's okay, Bruno, we'll go," he said. "I'll tell Juli. You, you want help suppressing the visions?"
Bruno groaned. "Yes. Yes please. Good luck. Hope my mom doesn't hate you."
Agustín's smile wobbled at the mention of Alma's opinion. Félix patted him on the shoulder, and they cast him one more worried glance, and then finally they left, leaving the unhappy Bruno prostrate in the sand, his two bizarre images lying beside him.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Of course, later on it would be 1951, and Félix would help his friend Officer Paulo repaint la comisaría, and Paulo would hold up one of the cards and suggest a photoshoot. But by then they were married, and Mirabel hadn't gotten her Gift, and Bruno had suppressed more visions than could ever be taken back.
But Bruno would laugh about it. Eventually. It would just take many years, and more than a little horrible, mindless terror.)

Descendants Headcanons/Wickedverse Guide
Some of these aren't so much "headcanons" as things I'm using in my post-canon universe, named the Wickedverse. Me and my sister share this universe, so she has a lot of influence with some of these. Will get updated as I add/change ideas.
Lore
Centuries before Auradon was formed, there was a great war between the kingdoms. After years of fighting, they made an agreement on territory and everyone closed their borders. This lead to kingdoms/cities to develop at different rates, due to different resources. Many years later, all the fairytales/stories happen over the course of seven years or so. Then, Auradon is formed.
The formation of Auradon (and the Isle) created the Age of Goodness (AOG). Upon it's creation, was year 1.
Since Descendants takes place twenty years after the AOG, it is year twenty
The first Isle book takes place in the July before Descendants. Descendants occurs in September-October (as Ben's birthday is in October), and Wicked World happens in November. The second and third Isle books take place in January of year 21. Since D2 takes place six months after D1 it occurs in March of 21. The fourth Isle book takes place in May of 22. D3, taking place after the older have graduated, occurs in June of year 22.
Some other Disney properties are included that aren't specifically mention in canon: Frozen, Frozen II, Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure (TV series), Encanto, Big Hero 6, Raya, and definitely more.
Mal and Ben's wedding is on the 13th of April, almost a year after D3.
Sometime after D3, the Isle of the Lost is renamed the Isle of the Found.
Family
Uma and Freddie are twin sisters, having been separated after Dr. Facilier and Ursula broke up. Freddie and Uma were unaware of this, and found out in the events of Never Knew I Lost You (coming soon).
In addition, Celia has a different mother, an OC named Lauren.
This is also why Facilier seemed to dislike Freddie (though, her abuse portrayed in the Wickedverse is probably worse than it is in canon), as he dislikes her mother. Whereas he favored Celia, since he likes her mother. Also why Ursula didn't care much about Uma, having become despondent after losing her partner and daughter.
King Philip has three sisters, Brigitte, Bianca, and Marya, taken from the book A Twisted Tale: Once Upon a Dream by Liz Braswell. Bianca is Ariana's mother and Marya has a daughter named Naomi.
Lumiere is married to Fairy Godmother, and is Jane's father.
Evie and Dizzy have the same father, Hans, making them half-sisters.
Doug's mother, named Clarita in this universe, is from Encanto. Agustin is her maternal uncle, making him Doug's great uncle.
Jay's mother was a woman from Agrabah named Lulu. She dealt in some shady business, thus why she was sent to the Isle. She died from an illness when Jay was five.
The sea witches mentioned in the first Isle book are Morgana's daughter, and Uma's cousins, instead of sisters.
Hadie's mother is an OC named Lian Teng. She is the sister of one of the Huns that survived the avalanche. He was all she had, so she followed him to the Isle. She worked in Hades's Souvlaki and her and Hades had a brief relationship a while after his break up with Maleficent. Hadie is three years younger than Mal.
Harriet, Harry, and CJ's mother is a woman named Red Jessica from Jake and the Neverland Pirates TV series. However, she is only the same character; her role and relationship with Hook is different in the Wickedverse than the cartoon.
Carlos's father is Bruno Madrigal from Encanto (inspired by @silverloreley 's headcanon and discussions). Bruno had a bad vision about Cruella and went to warn her about it. They had an unexpected connection, and one thing led to another.
Melody (from the Little Mermaid sequel) and Zephyr (from the Hunchback of Notre Dame sequel) are married and have a (currently unamed) child.
Friendships
Prior to the events of Wicked World, and possibly D1, Jordan and Ally become best friends after Jordan helps Ally out of a bad relationship.
Jane and Freddie become best friends during the events of Wicked World.
Likewise, Uma and Audrey become best friends sometime after the events of Descendants 3.
Because of the discovery of Uma and Freddie being twins, they start spending time together. To not leave Jane and Audrey out, the four of them hang out together often, forming a friend group similar to the Core Four.
A few months before the Bal wedding, Lonnie and CJ meet and become best friends.
Characters
As a reason for why Carlos was not at Mal and Ben's wedding (and why the rest of the Core Four were sad about it), he develops COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and goes into a coma a couple weeks before the wedding. He wakes up a few weeks afterwards.
Some last name headcanons:
Dwarf last names are from gems and the Seven Dwarves' last name is Lazuli, from lapis lazuli. This makes Doug's full name Doug Lazuli.
Maleficent and Mal's last name is Dragonheart, making Mal's full name Maleficent "Mal" Bertha Dragonheart.
Ben's last name is Leroi, meaning "the king" in French (taken from @hitchell-mope)
Evie's last name is Grimhilde, mostly taken from the fandom.
Jane's last name is Faery, and Fairy Godmother's real name is Joan.
Audrey gives up her birthright to rule Auroria, deciding that isn't the path for her. Naomi will rule Auroria instead. (Which was also what they were planning to do when they thought Audrey would be queen of Auradon).
Uma becomes leader of the Isle after D3, with Harry, Gil, and her crew acting as her advisors/council/soldiers.
OCs
Varian and Cassandra (from the Tangles series) are married and have two kids, Caelan and Valeria.
Anna and Kristoff are married and two sons, Alaric and Kade.
Raya has a son named River.
Maleficent has a younger brother named Kaveh, who comes to Auradon a few years after D3 to help stop a new threat. He previously lived in the Moorlands, the ancestral home of dark fairies and Maleficent's homeland.
Ally has a (currently unnamed) older brother.
Snow White and Prince Florian have a (currently unnamed) child.
Scar (who was turned into a human before being put on the Isle) has a daughter named Safiya.
Mirabel is married to a man named Rico and they have two kids, Anabel and Matteo. Others from Encanto also have kids, but most are currently unnamed.
Ships
Ben X Mal -- also known as Bal
Doug X Evie -- also known as Devie
Jane X Carlos -- also known as Jarlos
Jay X Lonnie -- also known as Jonnie
Harry X Uma -- also known as Huma

Hello. Been a while. I was wondering if you could do a request for me? If you read the Encanto book, "Tale of Three Sisters", could you please get the snippets/screenshots of whenever Luisa an Isabela discuss/mention Mirabel?
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner!
I did read it a while ago... Luis and Isabela get their own POV chapters, so there might be quite a few mentions of Mirabel spread out. It honestly depends on how much time it would take to get them all... If I do, I'll make sure to tag you!

Things I'd want from a new Little Mermaid, which was my favorite Disney movie as a little girl. I've read nothing about the live action other than the actors so this is just me rambling about what I'd like to do if somehow I were writing it lol.
More significant relationship build up. What Eric and Ariel have in the Disney movie is infatuation - infatuation that gets a pass because it's a children's movie and a fairy tale. But I'd love to see more. I don't need them to see discussing how many kids they'll have and whether they'll have a joint bank account. Just you know. Something more than bonding over Punch and Judy.
A memorable part of the storyline for Ariel's sisters. In the Andersen story, the sisters play a critical role, so that would be a nice nod. And, given the awesome sisterhood we've seen in Frozen and Encanto, it would be cool to see it in a live action too.
Seawitch with clear motivation and backstory. I don't really jive with "she's Triton's banished sister" but it's a start anyway. Ursula has a lot of personality, all she needs is more interesting motivation. For example, why does she have tentacles? Was she cursed? Did she choose them? Where did she learn her magic? Isn't there anyone with a grudge against her for turning a loved one into a seaweed thingy?? I don't need antihero Ursula (though I might be into it), but there are so many interesting things you can do with her as a villain.
Probably most importantly - I want Ariel's curiosity and adventurous spirit to continue beyond falling in love with Eric. It is not surprising that, given she has only three days, the falling in love adventure would take precedence. But since we don't get to see Ariel after, all we remember of her is how she fell in love at first sight, made very questionable choices in pursuit of that love, and gave up everything she ever knew for him in the end anyway. I'd really, really love to see Ariel without her voice impressing Eric with her eagerness to learn - not just being cute and lively as she gazes in wonder at a fork and sticks it in her hair. (Which is one of my favorite Disney scenes.)
Aaaaand... I'd just really like the stakes at the end of the movie to be more complex. She doesn't need to turn into bubbles, but some marriage of the little mermaid's self-sacrificing love with the courage and hope of Ariel - would be the icing on the cake.

so I’ve been re reading the tale of three sisters book and wanted to talk about a subtle implication in one of the scenes that adds a bit more nuance to the kitchen scene in the movie.
In the moments before “waiting on a miracle” we see how alma praises antonio the same way she did to mirabel before her ceremony and mirabel describes this feeling as like having a scab on your knee.
Tumblr media
scabs are what occurs when healing happens naturally, aka no magic food to magically close the wounds. Which makes me assume if mirabel is used to having scabs how often does she actually go to her mother to be healed from injuries? We see in the movie how mirabel doesn’t even mention that she cut her hand until julieta brings her into the kitchen to heal it.
Tumblr media
She even states here julieta “made” her come into the kitchen to be healed. So I’m beginning to think mirabel actually avoids going to julieta to be healed on purpose. After all we saw how in the movie julieta wanted her to open up about her feelings but mirabel pushes her away.
Tumblr media
Because for mirabel julieta wants to discuss her emotional wounds as well as the physical ones, and mirabel would rather do anything else than admit her problems to her mother. So she avoids her when she injures herself, not wanting to be seen as another nuisance or screw up not wanting to be seen as vulnerable or pitied like “a small child”.

I want to read the tale of three sisters in English so much. But all shops only sells it translated. And online libraries ask for a credit card. And since I live under occupation I have some shit instead of a card that works nowhere but ruzzia and the territory it annexed

I'm just imagining an Encanto AU where everything is still the same but Julieta is the one who can see the future and Bruno heals with food.
Just picture it with me.
Julieta's gift of healing with food kind of made her into the ultimate powerhouse maternal figure. Especially in most latino/hispanic cultures (from what I have observed) it is considered a "woman's role" to take care of others with things like cooking and repairing what has been broken.
Now imagine a Julieta, who is still a maternal powerhouse but instead of healing she tries to use her visions as cautionary tales or teaching lessons.
The village is still scared of her, still believes she is a source of bad luck.
But Julieta still has Augustin, who didn't believe she made the future happen. He was accident prone before meeting her. Just now she uses quick glimps to warn Augustin of his potential injuries and advise her brother how much extra food he'll need to make for her accident prone husband. They both chase Agustin around with the magic food She still gives birth to her three daughters who she loves more than anything. She is still the triplet that speaks against her mother to defend her family.
Bruno who is now the golden child of the triplets, and the most useful, is still socially awkward, and superstitious. His sister's can tell when the food choice is something on the saltier side. While his gift is useful he's only really approached for healing food and he's been doing that since he was five. He's overworked and is constantly in the kitchen. Making food in case of emergencies. He's still the rat man with rat children.
Mirabel's failed gift ceremony happens and Alma begs Julieta to look into the future. After comforting her daughter to sleep Julieta walks down into her vision cave where she sits on the end of a peninsula of an underground lake.
In her hands sits a blue tablet showing her youngest daughter. One side has casita whole, the other full of cracks.
Julieta is terrified for her daughter, Alma will demand to see the vision. Julieta knows from experince that once Alma knows it will end horribly for her daughter.
Julieta will do anything for her daughters.
Augustin goes to find his wife but only finds an empty cave and a smashed vision.
For 10 years no one talks about Julieta. Her door has stopped glowing. Augustin took the spare bed in Bruno's room, the two growing closer as Bruno helps with raising the girls. It's Bruno's involvement with helping raise his nieces that Augustin has not followed through on his threat to take his daughters and leave Casa Madrigal.
Augustin is more quick tempered with Alma, more ready to defend his daughters.
Isabela resents Mirabel even more, blaming her for their mother's disappearance.
Luisa doesn't blame Mirabel, if anything she's probably more protective of her than in canon. She does hold a secret resentment towards the town though. She believes they pushed her mother over the edge. Especially when she hears what people whisper from Dolores and by her own ears.
Well one of those girls had to be bad luck like their mother.
Julieta should've stopped after one. She got lucky to have a perfect daughter like Isabela.
Yeah she should've counted her graces that only one is a fuck up like her.
Mirabel wished someone talked about Julieta Madrigal. Actually talked about her, what she was like, how she looked, how she spunded. Did she prefer sweet or spicy foods? What was her favorite shade of blue? Did she love her youngest daughter? Mirabel has no memories, or very vauge ones. She has no idea who her mother truly is. The only comfort Mirable can bring herself is that sometimes it feels like Casita is trying to minic what she thinks is Julieta's voice. Giving Mirabel words of encouragement, praise, and love. Despite this attempt Mirabel might hate herself a little bit more, after all she was such an embarrassment that she drove her mother away.
Julieta does a better job at hidding in the walls than Bruno. She sneaks out a back door from her place in the walls before anyone wakes up and returns when she knows Dolores goes to sleep. She adds to her brother's herbs that she has spent all day collecting. Then wonders upstairs. Checking on each of her daughters, leaving them gifts before going back into the walls.
Julieta patches the walls for years. Taking notice of the pattern of when Mirabel is stressed or in pain the cracks show more. Casita has more than once woken Julieta up to one of her daughters having a nightmare. No matter how old they are she holds them close singing them back to a peaceful sleep.
Her brother's rats keep her entertained, always performing Bruno's latest telenovela for her. They help her sometimes by bringing things when she mistimed her coming back and can't make much noise in the walls.
She never expected one of her visions to be something they would bring her. Or that she would be reunited with her youngest daughter five minutes later after ten long years.
Bruno's rats led Julieta to one of the holes in the floor.
Julieta let out a gasp when she saw who was dangling by one of the floorboards. "Mija!"
Mirabel stared at a face simliar to her own as she gets pulled up. "Mama?"
Julieta checks her daughter over for injuries before pulling her into a tight hug. "Mi amor what are you doing back here?"
"What am I? What are you?" Mirabel spluttered, just examining her missing mother who was apparently never actually left! Mirabel glances over, loosing steam as she takes in all the repaired cracks. "Have you been patching these?"
Julieta sadly traces over the cracks, they match so well with her vision. "No matter how much I love our family, I won't let even them hurt my daughters. When Mama wanted that vision of you ten years ago I knew I could never let her see it. Even if there was a possibility of it turning out well she would only believe the worst outcome. Just like she and the village believe of me."

I need to get me a partner like the Haddock men.
Stoick the Vast, that man, that chief of vikings, sees his wife and mother of his child after 20 years of separation. He finds out that she isn't dead like he believed, eaten by a dragon, she has been living and rescuing dragons. Who keep in mind was his enemy and the bane of his existence until 5 years before this moment when their son changed his mind.
Stoick has been kinda through it too. He has been leading a village, raising Hiccup on his own, and lets be honest Hiccup was definitely not an easy kid to raise, and combating the constant dragon raids on their home. All the while he has mourned the loss of his wife who should have been one of, if not his biggest, supports.
Realistically Stoick should have remarried if nothing more than an agreed marriage of convenience, but no he's loyal to the memory of his wife. He even has part of her armor made into a helmet to keep her close.
And after 20 years, after tracking down his wayward son, she's standing before him. Stoick is stunned, because it's a memory come back to life.
Valka is the one shouting begging and fully expecting Stoick to be angry, and to a degree he has a right to be. If this was five years earlier, back when Stoick confronted Hiccup after the disaster with the Monstrous Nightmare he probably would have shouted, probably would have let his anger take over.
But it's been five years since that fight with Hiccup. Stoick has learned, has grown, he has ridden and trained two of his own dragons. He has done what Valka thought he never could.
And you know what the first thing Stoick says to her after 20 years? "You're as beautiful as the day I lost you."
Oh gods Hiccup got his romantic nature from Stoick!
Now onto the younger Haddock.
Hiccup and Astrid are a better version of Stoick and Valka because they leaned to do the one thing that separated the older Haddock couple.
They learned to communicate.
Now this wasn't an easy road as we've been shown to us throughout the series. They have kept secrets from one another that has blown up in their faces. Hell their first lesson in communicating happened because Hiccup kidnapped Astrid.
But they are so much better for learning this lesson early. They are each other's biggest supports, if one is down to do some shit the other ain't that far behind. They don't hold each other back, if one fails the other one is right there by their side.
Their love is a nartual thing that is as easy and hard as breathing.
It's all so beautiful! The Haddock men are such romantics!

Man I'm replaying Awakening again and just like the chrobin family route is some straight up telenovela shit. Like I expect Bruno Madrigal's rats to be performing.
All the drama chrobin plot adds to an already dramatic plot.
On a basic level we got tradgey, zombies, betrayal, attempted/actual murder, talks of genocide, suicide, religious cults, bodies being possessed by a god, and don't forget those time traveling babies. Oh and got some romance drama happening on the side too.
We got some funny moments from chrobins supports and then Awakening just lets us wreck this poor man. Loyal to a fault Chrom is betrayed by his wife, queen, and mother of his children. He loved his family more than anything and it got him killed.
Poor Lucina's life just becomes more chaotic too when Robin is her mother. Lucina went back in time fully ready to avenge her father and strike down his killer. Then she finds out it's her mother. Her mother, who Lucina believed to be dead but no really knew what happened to her, they just found Chrom's body. Her mother was the new host to Grima. The same woman who was the Queen of Ylisse, who gave birth to her, and supposedly loved her family destroyed Lucina's life.
Lucina holds her promise, she will avenge her father, and Robin stands there ready to let Lucina drive Falchion into her heart. But Lucina can't make herself do it. She is still that little girl that just wants her parents and at least this version of her mother loves her.
This doesn't even add Morgan into the equation either. Lucina finds her brother again after who knows how long, and he's got amnesia. The boy who has been missing or the traitor who served Grima now has amnesia and he looks at his family with stars in his eyes.
That poor boy must be so confused too. It's highly suspected that Robin gave birth to Morgan shortly before she became Grima or she was still pregnant when the Fell dragon took over. So Grima as his mother is all Morgan knows, and let's be honest lowkey wasn't the best mom. Robin's gentler ways towards her children probably gave Morgan whiplash. It's also hinted that this is the first time Morgan got to really bond with Lucina too.
All that happens an you're gonna tell me that isn't a plot to a telenovela? Someone call Bruno so we can watch the rat version of Fire Emblem Awakening.

I'm tired of seeing that trope of Fugaku despising Sakura and trying to break up her relationship with Sasuke.
New trope! Fugaku likes Sakura better than his own sons sometimes and was rooting silently for sasusaku to happen. They are the platonic grumpy and sunshine trope.
Not one Uchiha knows how she did it, but Sakura won over her future father in-law to the point where he'll ask Sasuke if he's bringing Sakura to Clan gatherings. And this was before they got together.
Itachi and Sasuke are both impressed and flabbergasted. That infamous Uchiha stoicism broke the first time they saw little genin Sakura talk Fugaku's ear off. Their father did not react how they expected at all. All Fugaku did was nod and added his own comment every now and again.
During Sakura's training with Tsunade when Fugaku had to make reports to the Hokage he would visit Sakura. And when Sakura was stuck on something she would visit Fugaku if he had time. His quietness while she talked out her problems helps her think and 9 times out of 10 she solves it herself. Fugaku may have also slipped one or two older Uchiha medical/posion techniques in with her notes when she wasn't looking. He almost got caught when Kaname gave him that old scroll to give to Sakura.
When sasusaku did happen and they were getting close to marrying age Fugaku started hinting that Sasuke should teach Sakura the fireball jutsu. Sasuke was surprised his dad didn't push it earlier.
Unknown to him Fugaku knew Sasuke would teach Sakura that jutsu since their genin days. It was just after the Forest of Death and Orochimaru's attack on team 7. Fugaku was pissed that the snake man bit his son and infected him with the curse seal.
Anbu and the Uchiha Police were working together on this, after all Orochimaru not only made it into the village but he attacked rookie genins, one of them being an Uchiha.
Fugaku had gotten statements from Naruto and Sasuke. Both told him of Orochimaru's attack, how he sent a giant snake after Naruto and tried to impersonate the boy, the bite on Sasuke, and the group of Sound ninja sent after he finished his attack.
Naruto knew nothing of that last part, Sasuke began to shake every time he thought about it, a deep shame glazing over his eyes.
This lead to Fugaku talking to Asuma's and Gai's teams who had witnessed bits and pieces of the fight from the three Sound nin.
It didn't take long for Fugaku to realize he needed to talk to Sakura, the only one who was present and conscious from start to finish.
To be honest Fugaku didn't think much of the girl at first. She was civilian born, and a fangirl of his son. She won't amount to much unlike her teammates. She probably would retire early when she became a mother or go into the reserves.
Sasuke was at the station dropping something off from Mikoto when Sakura came in. And oh, Fugaku knew that soft look Sasuke was sending her. The statements of Sakura calming him down in the Forest began to make sense. His eyes fixtated on the girl's newly cut hair. The girl had cut it to free herself and defend her teammates.
Sakura spotted Sasuke when directed towards Fugaku. And Fugaku knew that look too, Sakura was afraid of his son.
Before the two teammates could say something to one another Fugaku called for the girl's attention. "Haruno, let's get your statement."
Sakura nodded and followed Fugaku to an empty room with a desk and two chairs.
"Tell me what happened."
Sakura retold the tale filling in the gaps of her dragging the boys away, and trying to cool down Sasuke's fever. Her setting up traps, and how the fight with the Sound nin went.
"Sasuke-kun woke up then, but. . ." Sakura began to shake. "The power that seal gave him was monstrous."
Fugaku's eyes narrowed. "You think my son is a monster?"
Sakura's head shot up. "No-"
"He defended you did he not when he woke up?"
"Yes but-"
"You're afraid of him."
Sakura slammed her fist on the table, Fugaku pretended not to notice the small cracks.
"That wasn't Sasuke-kun! That seal Orochimaru forced on him was poisoning him! He's not bloodthirsty, and he was shaking when the seal receded!" Sakura took a breath. "I hugged him, begging him to stop, and that's when the seal released him."
Fugaku could see it now, what Sakura was shouting at him. She wasn't afraid of Sasuke, she was afraid for him. Fugaku could see past that fear now in her eyes.
That's the moment Fugaku knew Sakura would one day join the clan, after all no one loved like the Uchiha. They are sometimes born with a different family name though.
