A sad day. This morning I went into #otfsyosset to cancel my membership. I've been with them since before the studio opened and I've loved it. Other than when I was with @enchantedsilverworks in Wyoming, I've gotten my #OTF on 3 to 4 times a week every week between #Syosset (and more recently at #otfharboreast in #Baltimore). There's #OrangeTheory in Boston, but it's not super convenient to where we're going to be living and there's a gym in the building where I can apply what I've learned. I have nothing but praise for the workout and staff at OTF, especially @kayhendi in Syosset. They pushed me, trained me, and helped me get faster and stronger. When I started OTF 3 plus years ago, for example, my all-out pace was 7 and doing that for 30 seconds just about killed me. But just recently, I held 12 for well over a minute and I'll always reach for that heavier set of weights. Thank you, OTF. #Pandemonium for #AllOutMayhem at @otf_harboreast with Coach Katrina. I was only able to do one of the 60-second all-outs at 12mph, but I'm pretty pleased that I was able to do that! Basically a 3G switch routine/tornado. In really needed my #OTF today. It was a strength day with Coach @kayhendi at @otfsyosset. I managed to get there later because I thought for some reason it was 8:15 rather than 8:00. That said, I kept the intensity up. I used 60lb weights for the deadlifts (heavy for me but I did it!). And even more exciting was that I felt great on a 1-minute long all-out at 12mph. So good, in fact, that I kept it up for 15 or 20 seconds past time before I went to walk it out. It was only a few weeks ago that I did my first minute plus at 12mph. I made it back from Baltimore early enough to get to @otfsyosset and the #OrangeTheory endurance class with Coach @kayhendi tonight. Nice long runs at a push pace followed by intervals. Kayla challenged us to make the all-ours better then the last. I already do the 30 second all-ours at the highest speed the treadmill goes, so I upped my push pace for the last tread block and added some incline. Only 500 meters on the rower and I wanted to beat 2 minutes and I did it in 1:40! Good, tough partner workout with Coach @kayhendi at @otfsyosset today. I got 2500+ meters in on the tower, had a good couple of runs on the treadmill, and even managed those annoying alternating side medicine ball pushups with no problems. Strength day at @otf_harboreast. I used heavier weights on the floor but the hardest part was the run-row with all-outs on the treadmill...at an increasing incline! I chose a speed was fast but doable. It got a lot harder as the incline went up, though. Coach Katrina inspired us and I didn't drop my speed even at the highest grade. I'll be feeling it tomorrow, I'm sure. It was an #OrangeTheory Power Day with Coach @kayhendi at @otfsyosset. It's my penultimate #OTF before I go to Wyoming and I wanted to push hard. Each treadmill block had several push & all-out intervals with lengths starting at 1 minute, and then decreasing to 45 seconds and then 30 seconds (so a 45 second push would go right into a 45 second all-out). I kept my push pace at 8 (except for the 30 second ones, which I did at 9) and did every single all-out at 12. A few weeks ago 60 seconds at 12mph was unthinkable. Now, it's challenging but I know I can do it repeatedly, even at the end of a tough tread block. And there is is, my last #OrangeTheory workout in #Baltimore for the foreseeable future. It seems like just yesterday that I was standing outside the not-yet-open @otf_harboreast chatting with @tdfit4me and asking how soon the studio would be open and when I could sign up for classes. (Kind of funny, really. I've been involved with both #otfharboreast and #otfsyosset since the very beginning of both studios.) @kayhendi, I guess this means you'll be seeing me during the week at @otfsyosset! Today was an Endurance-Strength-Power day with Coach Katrina. I used 50 pound dumbbells for the chest presses and goblet squats. Heavy, but doable. And for the run-row I kept my push pace runs to 8mph and my all-out at 12mph. It was a great way to finish out my time at #OTF Harbor East. Many thanks to Katrina and all the other trainers and staff there. You helped me push my limits and surpass them. I'm disappointed in how today's #OrangeTheory went at @otf_harboreast. Coach Katrina was great, as always, but me...meh. I was able to push my weights on the floor (single arm press on the Bosu Ball at 50 pounds, 12 reps each arm) but my left thigh felt not-right when I got on the treadmill. I've done the last several classes at 12mph, but today I had to actually walk and I could never get my heartrate up :( Katrina reminded me that you always have to #ListenToYourBody but I was still annoyed. Power says are my favorite #OrangeTheory workout and that's what we had today with Coach @kayhendi at @otfsyosset. Only two short all-outs, so there was no problem doing them at 12mph. The best part was starting and ending with a 4.5 minute run for distance. I set a pretty aggressive speed (for me) for the first one: 8mph. I got to .6 miles in the run and I was feeling pretty good. Kayla challenged us to meet or beat that for the second one. So I started on 8.1mph and then raised it to 8.2 and then 8.3. At the end of the 4.5 minutes I hit .62 miles! Looking forward to the next challenge! One thing about pushing your limits is that sometimes your limits push back. My knee was a little cranky this morning in Coach @kayhendi's class at @otfsyosset this morning. But one of the many things I've learned at #OrangeTheory is that you need to #ListenToYourBody. So I didn't go quite as deep on the lunges (although I didn't cut back on the weights). And rather than run at base after the long pushes I dropped to a brisk walk. On the good side I ran all 4 all-outs at 12mph. We had a 1 minute, a 30 second, and finally a 1 minute followed by a 30 second walk and another 30 second all-out. 1 If you'd asked me when I started #OTF if I could ever do that I'd have laughed in your face. #otfsyosset #otfnation #orangetheoryfitness #basepushallout #emptythattank #fitfam #keepburning #morelife (at Orangetheory Fitness Syosset)
