I am a sinner my lord...

Maximus was sitting on the floor, to Julius feets. They were in Julius room. Maximus was looking up at him, while the emperor was affectionately rubbing his cheek.

Maximus sigh, he felt this warm feeling again in his chest. This sensation of love and adoration for his emperor. But he also felt wrong, selfish, possessive.

How could he deserve such a trust? Such a treatment from the most important man in Roman Empire? He was a sinner. He came all this way to be close to him, to walk next to him, to be touched by him, feeling his hand on his arm, his shoulder, his cheek. Feeling those eyes on him, looking at him and only at him, with such a trust and affection.

He felt like his barriers were falling, he was sinking into the darkness of his desires.

He looked up at Julius. His eyes taking in his perfect olive skin, it reminds him of the sun, of where he came from. Maximus felt at home next to him, he didn't wanted to leave. But he was a sinner, and a sinner couldn't stay with a Saint, without being punished by God.

He took Julius hand and kissed it: " Julius..."

He said, his voice low, intimate like they always have been, his vulnerability was reflecting into the syllabus he was pronouncing. His tone was sad.

Julius seems to noticed this tone. His eyes starting to reflect concern for his friend. He took Maximus face in his hand, making sure he will have his eyes on him when he talks. "Yes Maximus..?"

Maximus want silent, watching his emperor, feeling his touch on his cheek, he would like to stay like this, by his side for the eternity, but he couldn't. "I...wanted to tell you..I am going to return from where i come from.."

Julius stopped rubbing Maximus cheek. He looked at him, shocked, like he couldn't bring himself to register what he had heard. "..Why..? Roma is your home..you helped me to expend it..you are a Roman.."

Maximus felt his heart aches. He could see how he hurts his friend, but staying here wouldn't bring him any good. He will suffer and make Julius sink into this path with him..or worse..he could hate him..and he couldn't bare that. " I know..i will always be Roman from heart..but i have to leave.."

"...but why..?" Julius asked, feeling sad and betrayed.

"..I am a sinner..my lord.."
