in one of my other fandoms there’s a joke that two characters will throw tantrums if they’re not sitting next to each other and I can see a low key version of that for Katniss and Peeta. Especially since Victory Tour got them used to being planted next to each other. They’re not mean but Haymitch will always laugh at how grumpy both of them get if he takes a seat next to the other.

looove this and i like to imagine the different ways they react to being forced to sit apart. katniss gets all sullen and just sulks until whoever sat down beside peeta awkwardly shuffles over. peeta is a menace who doesn’t give a single FAWK and so he will find a way to sit beside his katniss, including but not exclusive to attempting to fit in the narrowest of places until the other person gives in and moves.

plot twist though their biggest adversary in this problem is… buttercup. katniss and the cat get into hissing matches over who gets to sit beside peeta. peeta hates to spoil the rare occasions buttercup and katniss are peacefully coexisting, but when he wants to sit beside katniss he’s like “buttercup you have 3 seconds before i sit on you.”
