Ngl though, it can be frustrating when some of your companions are being fucking dipshits and you can't tell them to shut the fuck up and get it together... There's not really much conflict between the companions to begin with, but the game does consistently force Rook into being a "and why don't you tell [character name] how that makes you feel?" every time you're forced into being a therapist (which is a lot).
It does make me miss all the bitching and whining and fighting and yelling in Inquisition. I don't think you can even actually kick a companion out?? Idk. The game has been extremely heavy handed with the "Power of Friendship" message, and I personally have never been a huge fan of that trope.
Edit:: ALSO. I really hate the setup for quests. I am literally constantly binging the companion quests in between basic story missions because i'm scared it's gonna seal them off otherwise, so the pacing is EXTREMELY weird for me right now.
I've been absent because I've been binging DAV; enjoying the game a lot, but I gotta agree with all my discussions I've had with friends: they really sanded down any of the edge/darkness DA had, and I think that's a mistake and a loss, tbh. Still a good game and I'm having fun, but there's a lot of wasted potential.
Also they keep retconning/ignoring parts of lore/world building (esp the darker aspects) from older games and it annoys me, but whatever
