Travel Destination: Finland
North is the Night by Emily Rath
In the Finnish wilderness, more than wolves roam the dark forests. For Siiri and Aina, summer's fading light is a harbinger of unwelcome change. Land-hungry Swedes venture north, threatening the peace; a zealous Christian priest denounces the old ways; and young women have begun to disappear.
Fishing for the Little Pike by Juhani Karila
When Elina makes her annual summer pilgrimage to her remote family farm in Lapland, she has three days to catch the pike in a local pond or she and the love of her life will both die. This year her task is made more difficult by the intervention of a host of deadly supernatural creatures and a murder detective on her tail.
The Brothers by Asko Sahlberg
Finland, 1809. Henrik and Erik are brothers who fought on opposite sides in the war between Sweden and Russia. With peace declared, they both return to their snowed-in farm. But who is the master? Sexual tensions, old grudges, family secrets: all come to a head in this dark and gripping saga.
The Witch Hunt by Max Seeck
A bestselling author's wife has been found dead in a gorgeous black evening gown, sitting at the head of an empty dining table. Her most chilling feature--her face is frozen in a ghastly smile.
At first it seems as though a deranged psychopath is reenacting the gruesome murders from the Witch Hunt trilogy, bestsellers written by the victim's husband. But investigator Jessica Niemi soon realizes she's not looking for a single killer but rather for dozens of believers in a sinister form of witchcraft who know her every move and are always one step ahead.
The Man Who Died by Antti Tuomainen
A successful entrepreneur in the mushroom industry, Jaakko Kaunismaa is a man in his prime. At just 37 years of age, he is shocked when his doctor tells him that he's dying.
What is more, the cause is discovered to be prolonged exposure to toxins; in other words, someone has slowly but surely been poisoning him, determined to find out who wants him dead, Jaakko embarks on a suspenseful rollercoaster journey full of unusual characters, bizarre situations and unexpected twists.

Bought this book today in Waterstones. I flicked through it as I usually do but found it was really weird. Nothing really made sense? Then I noticed it had been printed back to front! Kinda like how a manga is?
I approached a bookseller and was like "um is this book meant to be like this?" And she asked me to take her to where I got it. There wasn't another copy but book 3 was on the shelf so I checked that and it was normal. So the bookseller is like 'I'm so sorry I will let the Publisher know." And I said I still wanted the book. She was baffled I even wanted it but told me she'd check if they had another copy instead. There wasn't another copy. So I told her I really was sure I wanted this copy and she relented and sold it to me.
I remember being a little kid and buying a Heartland book with half the book missing because it's so unusual. So this one being the wrong way around was fascinating to me. So it's now become my rare af print of any book in my collection. How many books get printed like this?

Just finished Pucking Around by Emily Rath.
It’s a spicey hockey romance between a doctor (Rachael) and a guy she hooked up with that is on the team she now works at as a physical therapist for (Jake) and the equipment manager for said team (Caleb- also Jakes best friend) and the goalie who is pretending to hide and injury (Ilmari). MMFM (Ilmari is not dating anyone but Rachael and the others are dating each other.)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
⚠️Spoilers below⚠️
It’s a why choose novel and pretty good tbh. It’s pretty funny in a few instances esp in the beginning which is what pulled in my attention and it only took me a couple of days to read.
I didn’t really feel opinionated on the spicy scenes but that can be bc I’m on the aroace spec so you know. It did have a lot of them so if your into that check it out!
I really liked how the relationship that Caleb and Jake had with Ilmari changed through out the relationship after Ilmari was added to it.
Also Caleb having his wanker pierced and Jakes reaction was priceless.
I don’t really have a set reason for this but my favorite character was definitely Ryan Langley. Idk why but his vibes kinda scream β€œchild with undiagnosed adhd” and I am living for it. (I was actually so upset when I finished it on August first and realized Pucking Wild doesn’t come out until the twenty first. I literally cried. For hours. In a manic β€œomg i love this but WHY TWENTY DAYS” way. Then Emily Rath posted about it TWICE the next day.)
I really liked Rachael’s interaction with the rest of the team. To me, it seemed like she is the type of person to respond with β€œI mean you *could* but I’d also think about the consequences of me kicking your ass after” (or benching your ass by not signing your medical forms). πŸ˜‡
The ending was absolutely amazing in my opinion. The phone swap was such an interesting thing and I loved that is was as much as surprise for us as it was Rachael. Everyone changing their last names for Rachael so it was still Price against the world made me almost cry.
Also her parents are supportive of her poly relationship and there wasn’t a big β€œI have to convince my parents I know what I’m getting into” thing and that was really nice.
Also the amount of support from everyone she’s worked with was astounding! Caleb, Jake, and Ilmari really said Go big with this or quit the team.
(Ryan writing enough for a college thesis I swear I love this man SO MUCH)

Favorite Kindle Authors 2024
Happy Thursday Nerds! I often get asked about my favorite Kindle authors and why they are my favorite. When I get put on the spot I have a hard time answering that question, I’m not that great at thinking on my feet. So I decided to compile a list that will probably change in the future but is up to date as of now. This list is pretty interchangeable for the most part. These are authors that I…
