It turns out that Emily needs to go to a last minute soccer team practice in Center Park. She's not my auntie anymore, she's just your girlfriend," Emily retorts sharply before flushing as Iseul’s face falls and Megan flushes. "I'm sorry, but it's true," Emily adds more softly. "Emmy, I love your mom but I also care a lot about you and you've always been like a niece to me. I don't want to overstep but I want to be in your life again one day, if you're okay with it," Iseul says gently.

A silence falls between them and Megan gives Emily a meaningful look before heading to the bathroom. "I don't know, auntie Is. Mom and I talked and I don't blame you for what happened between her and ma, I just wish things were different," Emily mutters, twisting the rainbow friendship bracelet her older brother had gave her. "I know, Ems," Iseul says softly. Emily sighs, and glances up* at Iseul again. Ever since Emily was 12 and first met her mom's best friend/college ex-GF, she'd thought Iseul was so cool. She would try and emulate Iseul's style and loved hearing her travel stories, even telling her moms that she wanted to be just like auntie Is when she got older. Now at 17, Emily doesn't know what to think anymore, because the same woman she looked up to and loved as an auntie is the same woman her mom left her ma for. "I'll think about it, okay?" Emily says now, and Iseul’s face lights up with hope, though she quickly dampens it. "Of course, thanks Emmy and take as much time as you need," She says softly.

Edit: *Iseul is 6'0" storywise while Emily is 5'8" (which is still tall as heck to me).

Piper comes home a few minutes later, and Emily jumps up to hug her. “Hey Emmy,” Piper says, hugging her baby cousin while shooting Cam a ‘what’s going on?’ look. Cam bites her lip and gestures to Emily. “Hey Pipes, you look pretty,” Emily says, eyeing the artsy button-up shirt her cousin is wearing. “Thanks. It’s nice of you to visit, Ems. Did Aunties Megs and Tess come with you?” She asks. Emily’s face falls and she bites her lip. “Um, no. I came here by myself to see you and Cam, and cause I wanted to talk to you.” Emily says in a rush and Piper nods, her eyes widening a bit. “Sure Emmy, let’s sit down,” she says, gently leading Emily to the table. 

Emily takes a deep breath before looking at Piper. “My moms are acting so weird since we came back from Mt. Komorebi. They’re arguing, and Ma is cold to Mom and I caught Mom crying in her room but she wouldn’t tell me why. I just don’t know what’s going on and I’m worried that maybe-” Emily gulps. “Maybe they're going to divorce.” She says out loud, feeling a sense of relief to say it. “Oh Emmy,” Piper says gently, reaching over to put her hand on Emily’s. “Arguing doesn’t always mean a divorce. Maybe they’re just going through a tough time and working through their issues. I think if it’s bothering you this much, you should sit down with both of them and talk it out.” She adds, and Emily nods slowly, her shoulder relaxing slightly. 

There’s a slight silence as Emily thinks, and she gives Piper and Cam a sheepish smile. “I feel silly now that I came here over this,” she admits and Cam shakes her head. “No, it’s completely fine, Ems. Pipes and I have arguments sometimes too, but the main thing is we work through the issues together and I’m sure your moms are doing the same thing,” She says, and Emily nods. “Tell you what, I’m going to see my auntie Iseul and I’ll ask her what’s going on, she’s best friends with your mom so maybe she knows,” Cam says and Emily smiles. “That’d be great, thanks Cam, and thanks Pie,” she says, using the nickname she’d given Piper as a toddler. “Of course, Emmy, and you’re always welcome here,” Piper says and Cam nods.
