The thing that pisses me off about the Emily Armstrong discourse is how blatant people are about cherry-picking facts. Talking about how it's betraying Chester's memory because the cult abuses children born into it while ignoring the fact that...emily was a child born into it. talking about how horrible the cult is to people who openly speak out against them, especially people with family still in the cult, and then getting mad at emily for not speaking openly about them while she has family in the cult. like it's all in such bad faith.

the cult is directly intolerant of homosexuality. emily is an out lesbian. we have no idea what's going on behind closed doors and i for one am inclined to give victims the benefit of the doubt. and make no mistake anyone raised in a cult against their will is a victim.

over the years i've met both current and former members of a different cult (one of whom left specifically because she was gay) who were born into it and it's just really sad. i bear no ill will towards any of them, even those who told me to my face they oppose people like me.

i don't know what emily actually believes. none of us do. all i know is that i believe in compassion for victims of abuse and the possibility of recovery for those raised to be indoctrinated. that's always been my stance and it always will be.

I dont think people truely understand how much i love emily armstrong... Like, i would die for her. She, and Linkin park as a whole, have taken over 70% of my brain. Its concerning...

Worst part is, i dont have anyone to talk to her about. Im DYING over here. 'Cause i dont know most my friends stance on her, therefore i dont know if i could talk about her without mentioning the 'bad things shes done'. Like, it doesnt even take much research to find out what actually happened. I foind an article thats tells you everything within less of a minute. OH MY GOD!!!!

Obviously, it sucks that Chester's gone. We all still feel it. But Emily is amazing. They had to move on at some point. I, for one, fully support this chapter of Linkin Park.

what a lot of people don't understand is that linkin park is about doing something different. that's what they've ALWAYS been about. even if people didn't like it. the thrill of doing something new and innovative has never scared them, even if it came at the expense of a few naysayers and elitists within the fanbase.

that's why choosing emily as the new singer just makes sooo much sense to me. they didn't want to replicate their old sound. they didn't want someone to try to be a carbon copy of someone whose shoes were too big to fill anyway.

they wanted something new. different. revolutionary. and i have a feeling that's what this new era will be.
