Spinal Health! Yeah, that remarkable series of bones known as your Vertebral Column which runs from your Pelvis right up to the head. That's a very long series of links and if even one is mal aligned, it'll have a chain reaction and destabilize the entire column. In addition you're likely to experience trapped nerves (known as impingement), causing a raft of issues. The most common being Sciatica. In addition to an overall feeling of discomfort and irritability. So, what's the answer? Firstly, ensure that you're well hydrated because dehydration causes compression of your spinal column is often the direct cause of spinal issues. Then of course there's exercise, but it must be consciously executed. That is be 'present,' breathe and be in the 'now.' Yoga is brilliant for this as it is so much more than just the physical elements and incorporates the Mind, Body, Spirit and Soul. In addition, regular (daily) back extensions (including aerobic activity such as walking, running etc..) such as the one I'm doing here are safe and very beneficial. The main point to remember is elongate your entire body from head to toe. In order to do this you'll also need to tap into your pelvic floor muscles and the core such as the TA (Transverse Abdominal) a key postural and stabilizing muscle. Yeah there's a lot to consider, but the main thing is to be conscious, totally present, not to rush and feel your bodies signals and how it responds. Remember, your body is a remarkable organism and an infinity complex system of cellular structures which are believe it or not, constantly giving you feed back (biofeedback) on how your health. The problem is we often are in too much of a rush and don't listen.
