IT’S HONESTY DAY ----

We’re gonna do it up old school today my friends! Considering tomorrow is a very serious day that is going to have much pain (you didn’t hear this from me) and many of you guys have been so proactive on closing threads before Thursday, you guys voted, so honesty day it is!

Since some of you guys said you’d prefer to have a free-for-all type scenario, this will be an ‘honesty hour’ rather than ‘ask memes’ so to prevent the dash from getting cluttered, please don’t reblog any ask memes so we can keep our heads focused to our big brain questions.

As always, if you are participating, please post a link to your askbox so folks know you’re wanting questions. If you do not wish to participate (which is totally cool! Take a cool down day if you’d like you guys already do a lot here ily), just don’t post your ask.

Please send a question to everyone who posts their askbox link. If you’re unsure of a question to ask, just message me and I can help you come up with one! Some quick ways to help you think of questions, you can 1) look at their intro and see if there’s anything you want to know more about. You can 2) look at their task to see if there’s a loved one you’d like to know more about. You can 3) look at their established connections and see if there’s more you’d like to know.

Most importantly, have fun! Do as much or as little as you’d like. And, you know, be ready for tomorrow. This will last 25 hours, and when the plot drop posts (which will be 9am CST), I just ask you no long answer questions to focus on the new arc.

IT’S FORM TIME FOLKS!

As I talked about in the chat, below you will find a google form that you will all fill out to help me get a better idea of what you see for your characters, and the boundaries you’d like to establish.

I want take this space to expand a bit on the intention so everyone is on the same page:

Embers is a plot-heavy group that will involve extensive member participation. I am so lucky to have a group that is just as invested in this story as I am, but I’d like to explicitly say the expectation so that once we get into the meat of the plot, we all know what we’re signing up for.

What does this mean?

It means members will need to keep track of not only the main, and the npc-adjacent blogs, but other members’ blogs as well. Plot material will be happening on the dash in all directions, with every member carrying their weight to move this plot along. It would be disrespectful to the team not to do your part.

What this DOESN’T mean

I am not expecting members to be on every day or frantically refreshing the dash to see what comes up.  I also will try and post all important plot related things to the discord to make it easier to pick up on (and members are encouraged to poke me if there’s something they think should be on the discord). Hiatuses are still welcome when needed and breaks are encouraged. We’re in this for the long haul so I want to prevent burnout. I am also more lenient when members actively participate in the plot out of character, and are actively feeding into the plot with other members, even if they aren’t on the dash as much.

Participation and engagement is expected. If these expectations don’t align with what you feel you can produce, I recommend having a conversation with an admin about your role in the group. 

For the most part, pretty much everyone has been doing an excellent job and has made me super excited about the future of this group. I want to see that continue, and always always, have open communication. Losing muse ? Let me know! Having a rough week and just want to tap out for a bit? Let me know! Communication is the way we’re going to thrive here. It will only become an issue if you lack of activity become a consistent, and you are not carrying your weight in this group.

This form is to establish boundaries while also giving a clear understanding that shit will happen to and around your muse that will be a surprise.

Surprise and plot twists are some of my favorite elements in collaborative writing. It provides interesting arcs that members potentially hadn’t even thought about. Especially considering that Embers is going to take many twists and turns, this is inevitable.

However, these are your characters and I know it’s frustrating when someone throws you into the deep end of something you didn’t even want to write. That’s why this form is so important. You will have to think about what is important to your character, what you’d like to see, and what you would absolutely not want to see. I’m putting out this form now so you can take your time and really think about it, before the big plot drop happens.

As I state in the form, if you don’t establish a boundary in any part of the form, it’s going to be considered fair game. 

It’s also important to mention that this form and these cryptic questions doesn’t mean this group is going to head into any troubling or triggering territory beyond any mature rp. While there might be themes that are triggering (such a brainwashing, kidnapping, torture, death, etc), these will never be roleplayed on the dash, but rather mentioned in an aftermath with vague details of the actual violence. This is also a friendly reminder if you have a trigger not listed on the page, send it in!

If you have any questions, it is so important that you ask it. Either directly to me on discord, or through the questions channel on discord. I am happy to answer anything!

Lastly, when I post this message onto Discord, it will be accompanied with a number ID. This is just because Google Forms is stinky and it was hard to tell which messages go with which person, so I just politely ask you put the Number ID at the beginning of each answer so I can easily figure out who is writing what. And please be sure to indicate which character you are referencing in the response boxes, if you have multiple characters.

Alright folks! All of the skeletons have been posted. Hopefully you’ve found on that you attach yourself to. I really want to thank everyone for the support I’m seeing in the group already. I really didn’t know if a Hunger Games rp was going to be something people wanted, and I’m so glad it is!

Tomorrow, I’ll post about the NPCs, so keep your peepers peeled for that. You may now send in applications. The date which we will accept is still up in the air, we will likely set a date when around 10 apps come in, depending on how quick they do come in.

There we have it! It is now 4pm CST, meaning the submit is closed. I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to apply, and have been inspired by this group. It’s really meant a lot to me. I wasn’t sure that a Hunger Games group would be anywhere nearly as well received as it has been. You have truly made my night!

I will now begin looking over the apps and compiling acceptances. I will start posting them at 5pm cst, but acceptances will likely not be fully concluded until later in the evening. I will do my best to update the app count page so you can follow which choices I have made, but I will not be answering questions until acceptances finishes. The best way to reach out to me for a quick response is through IM.

If there is a skeleton that has no apps you are looking to apply to, you may reach out to me for a possible extension.

It’s been a truly exciting two weeks here getting the plot going and getting to know everyone’s characters. I’m so excited to open things up for our members to expand on the story with taking up second characters! Here’s a little post detailing what it should look like if you intend to pick up a second.

The next acceptance will be Monday March 8th @ 4pm cst

FOR POTENTIAL APPLICANTS:

Fear not! You are still more than welcome to come and apply, and I encourage it! I think there’s strength in numbers for a group’s longevity. If you’re looking to apply, I would love to see it! I will be judging all apps fairly and making sure that having an additional member is considered in the application process. If you have any concerns, you are free to ask! But this implementation is not to suggest the group is going private.

FOR CURRENT MEMBERS, under the cut

So you want a second character, huh? We love to see it! There’s just a couple things I want to make sure are clear before doing so. Most importantly, the first step, reaching out!

In order to pick up a second character, you must reach out to me saying you’d like a second. Second characters are only granted to those with consistent activity and participation. I will grant an approval or not and then it’s off to the races!

After that, here’s some general rules/info for picking a skeleton:

If you are playing a Capitol character, your second cannot also be a Capitol character

You cannot pick a character that has a pre-written connection to your current character

If your desired fc is not listed on the skeleton of alt page, you must still get an approval

Please put the same effort into your second character and their app as your first

Being a current member isn’t an automatic shoe-in for being accepted. It’s possible your app might be against another, in which I will judge fairly. Or, if your app simple doesn’t fit the vision, I will not accept the role. 

Easy enough, right? Now, you don’t have to tell me what skeleton you’re thinking of applying for. I love surprises, but I’m also nosy, so I wouldn’t mind if you told me either. 

And to encourage applications for skeletons that have been receiving little to no attention, I am allowing flexibility on given skeleton information**. Things such as Hunger Games victory year, age, and certain skeleton details can be flexible. Things that are not flexible are fc requirements and home district. The characters listed here allow different kinds of diversity and I would love to see them. If you want to apply for one of these characters, and make a change or multiple changes, those must be approved prior to applying. The following skeletons that fit in this category are:

ACCEPTANCES HAVE CONCLUDED

I want to take this time to once again thank everyone who applied. These were fantastic apps and I was so inspired to see everyone put inspiration in them and want to breath life into this retelling. If you weren’t accepted, you are more than welcome to message me as ask for feedback, and you are more than welcomed to apply. In fact, I encourage it! We have eleven of skeletons still open.

The follow list and discord link will likely go out tomorrow morning, so keep your eyes peeled for that. I will be spending the rest of the night updating pages and getting things ready. I will keep apps in my inbox for the next 48 hours, and after that, they will be deleted.

AS FOR FUTURE ACCEPTANCES--- We will be hosting acceptances twice a week. The next one will be Monday @ 6pm cst, and then following that on Friday, date tbd. Acceptances will take place on those two dates, with times tbd, for the next two weeks. After two weeks (the acceptance of March 8th), I will open things up so current members can apply for second characters if they’d like.

HAPPY HUNGER GAMES

Welcome, all! I’m so excited to be sharing this group with you. Since my time of re-experience the HG series, I wanted to bring it to life in the form of a group. So here it is!

I’m going to be around all night to answer any sort of questions you like. Don’t forget to reblog the first post to get sent the character list on the 27th. This is the only way to find out the roster, otherwise, you’ll just have to see them as skeletons are posted.

The schedule for the next few days looks like this:

January 27th: General teasers are posted

January 28th: Skeletons begin being posted. Four or Five will be posted a day, depending on how quickly they’re getting done.

Skeletons will likely all be released by the 2nd-4th, depending on speed. But again, ask any questions, I’m excited to get the ball rolling!

COMING UP NEXT...

Fear not, you still have until Friday the 19th to finish up your event threads. After that, all event threads should be concluded.

Once the event ends, from the 19th to April 5th (or 9th depending how things go) we will be in a cool-down period. Trust me, after the next plot drop, you’ll see why I wanted us to have a moment of chill before immediately dumping into the next drop. Here is the setup for what’s going on:

Snow’s extravagant party has concluded. There’s no reason to stay in the Capitol any longer unless you live there. Most victors will be returning to their home districts until the Quarter Quell is announced. You can have post-event threads with other characters the day after the event as characters are gearing up to take the trains ang go home (or riding the train together, even if they have stops in different districts). If you characters are in the same district, feel free to thread with them back home! You are also welcomed to write flashback threads with anyone**! It’s unlikely characters would be able to travel to districts outside of their own, especially considering that things are heating up in a couple districts.

**If you are wanting to do a flashback thread, you are required to put the time the thread takes place in the first initial starter, i.e. ‘six months before the 74th Hunger Games victors are crowned’ or ‘the year of the 52nd Hunger Games’ as long as there’s a clear way to understand the timeframe. I do also ask you tag the thread as a flashback.

The task line is also extended to the 19th, if you need more time, just let me know! 

Last but not least, this is a GREAT time to pick up a second character. Once the ball gets rolling, it will be a lot of fun to have more characters involved in the story. 

This might seem pretty uninspiring, but trust me, you’re going to want this time to build relationships and characters a little bit more before we get into the next part. As always, feel free to ask questions in the discord, and please give this a like once you’ve read it.
