Arrived from afar alongside the Gunslinger, the weight of many a secret heavy on his back, Elvia settled in a dingy little place within the heart of Eridia’s lower districts. As he awaits a cure for his peculiar maladie, he now makes a living by selling perfumes— and they are enchanted, people say; miraculous vials of an energy unforeseen.

Nowadays, more and more people gather around Elvia. The pull they have is unparalleled, and quite frankly, unsettling.

Updated design and character sheet for Phlomis Lavandera, Eridia’s newly arrived soulless hunter.

Indiscreet tongues say that she arrived accompanied by a beautiful stranger with an irresistible aura; they say —quietly, quickly, as if they were afraid reaping consequences for their boldness— that the gunslinger’s weapons tear through Soulless with ease.

Some say they are not guns at all.

Whatever secret Phlomis Lavandera and Elvia Cardenal are keeping, it is well kept.

I played through the touchstarved demo again yesterday with a friend, and turns out my obsession has been reignited slightly. So I drew my two MCs Elvia and Phlo in the touchstarved chibi style as an art exercise, since it’s so far from my own style. Phlo has a hat on and hat off version.

There’s something supernatural about the way Leander loves Elvia, and wishes to be all they see. I mean- they were the head of a cult for years. Surely their extreme charm isn’t just because they’re lovely…

So entrancing and appealing, both of them. They’re truly meant for one another.

Some people have already read through my thoughts in my other social media, but I think it's good to have this here as well.

What to say.

Art is a journey. Although I am rarely satisfied with my improvements, although I oftentimes grit my teeth and seethe at the fact that I cannot make progress as quickly as I’d want to- it is still a journey. My journey, and I am enjoying it quite so!

I had been thinking on painting over this piece of mine for a while. I really liked the concept and the character portrayed (my dear Elvia), yet, as my eyes and hands evolved in these nine month, I found myself wanting to give it a little… revamp.

So I did! I am quite happy with the results, but not as happy as I am about the fact that I now get to rapidly flip between canvas layers to compare the old one and the new one huhuhu.

But well, I digress. I guess what I wanted to say is that, no matter how much time passes, there is always a piece of you in every single artwork you’ve made. You weave and intertwine your illustrations with small fragments of your soul, shedding your light and essence like petals in the wind, one encased in each drawing.

So it’s still you. No matter how much you change, it’s still you. That little kid drawing Pokémon characters was me; the 10 year old writing furry character stories and illustrating them was me. The Pandora Hearts Fan, the anime phase kid, they were all me.

I can see Candela in every drawing I’ve made, and even though sometimes I want to be angry at my alleged artistic incompetence , the truth is that I will forever recognize my touch in my art.

And I will love it to infinity.

I've been thinking, and I've realized that Phlo (MC) is actually really similar to Ais in many ways.

That slightly despondent, polite yet violent vibe they've got is very recognizable. With both of them seemingly yearning for simpler things (Phlo wants to stop killing for a job and live peacefully in a house with a little garden next to Elvia (MC 2), and Ais seems to just crave companionship), I would not be surprised if they got along like a house on fire, based on a mutual understanding of what aggrieves them.

There's also the fact that, being The Hound, Phlo has grown up around crime and knows not to trust everybody. She's headstrong, does not hesitate to attack to defend herself, and has a foul mouth, all of which amuses Ais very much. It's not like she's put off by monsters either, since her adoptive father was one.

I’m entertained by the possibility of Vere and Phlomis acting like extremely annoyed old spouses towards one another with time. They get into debates about the stupidest shit.

Phlomis doesn’t trust Leander all that much. She also doesn’t LIKE him all that much. For somebody dead set on protecting Elvia, this is gonna be a problem.

Because they did, in fact, bone the wizard.

I find it incredibly funny that Phlo is always like "I've killed people" to Elvia as if that could deter them from being friends with her, especially when Elvia has killed considerably more people in their weird little cult, and continue to use their cult leader charm to manipulate people.

I still adore that Elvia making perfume is a cover up for the low-key cult he's created taking advantage of his supernatural influence on people, it's one of my favorite things about them

Leander expected to manipulate this one but ended up falling for them irremediably and being toyed with himself, how fun

A friend is going to make Elvia an embroidered veil and they’re very happy :)))
