It makes me so genuinely sad that some of my favorite characters and story and lore in just about anything ever is locked behind Elsword's god awful progression system. Like I love this game enough to cash out for it but so many people I know dropped out before getting to parts of the story that I know they'll love a lot due to it. The only cheap way to consume it is via youtube videos I guess and that's just a damn shame.

The writing in Tirnog and Abyss especially is genuinely fantastic and Monaterra is off to a really good start too. Victoria is one of my favorite characters of all time ever. Her ideals, the way she built Magmelia from scratch, it's all so amazing. The reveal that dream demons (succubus/incubus, like Karis and co.) are all people who have died and found a second life is so fascinating too. It's such an interesting portrayal of nihilism. "We only enjoy this life because we realized when we escaped from our restraints, how futile everything is. Huhu, but I know you don't understand yet. Goals, mission... Those are like names. You believe it's yours when someone else bestowed it to you. Though it's yours, it's also not. Hope, determination... Those are sparks that last only a moment. They soon wilt away like flowers. If so, then the only thing that can be considered eternal is love for yourself, isn't it?"

Abyss as well. You could feel the exhaustion of everyone in the crew as they scramble out of the abyss. The relationship between Aren and Ran is so much more interesting than it really had to be. Aren being the one to seek out Ran, Ran being the one forced to leave because Aren was too perfect of a host and risked being changed by him. The speech Tyr gave when Ran insulted the original Demon King. Amazing stuff.

The whole concept of the Abyss in Elsword is so mysterious and interesting. The fact it just shows up every now and then and they have to deal with it like an annoying thunderstorm. The way it's the origin of demons and the implications of that on Elria, Ishmael, and Henir. The way it's described as alive with a heart and a the opening being like a digestive tract with multiple sections but a tube that goes all the way down. I could go on and on

And don't get me started on demon realm politics.

Anyways Elsword has some of my favorite characters and lore in anything and the fact that few will know because of the progression system makes me very genuinely sad.

God I love Victoria so much.

1/4 - Enter Bethma Village

As demons continued to attack them, Lu and Ciel were getting exhausted. The mana used in battle was recovering too slowly.

Because they were tied by contract, the more Lu used her mana, Ciel's soul would fade away. At this rate, they will lose each other.

They decided to take a rest for the journey forward.

2/4 - Bethma - Clear ‘Bethma Lake’ [0/1]

Perhaps it's because she didn't regain her power fully, but the mana was not fully restored. In this unideal situation, the demons attacked again. Despite thinking that the demons would attack her, the reality was different and they began attacking Ciel. Her body moved before she could think on her decision, and she blacked out with terrible pain.

Afterwards, Lu felt great demonic energy coursing through her body.

3/4 - Enter ‘Bethma Village’

She regained her consciousness hearing someone desperately calling out to her. When she did, she noticed that everything around her was devastated. Her body, which she thought was pierced, was completely healed.

'Is this... The true demon power that I thought I lost...?'

It wasn't long before she trembled at the destructive demonic energy, and Lu felt an unknown joy deep inside***.

4/4 - Bethma - Clear ‘Dragon’s Nest’

The more she used demonic energy, the more she was swept away by the thrill of it all. Though Ciel insisted they needed to find a way to control this demonic energy Lu did not agree.

'Why are you worried, Ciel. Accepting this power as is is the way to find my true self as a demon.'

It's time to show her servant what this power truly feels like.

Do you think Laby is connected to the Dark El in the same way Elsword is connected to the El? I dabbled with the concept myself before her release. If there is an anomaly with the El, wouldn't the Dark El be affected as well? In many of the classes that utilized the Dark El it was noted that its power got stronger with the restoration of El (Adds novel had both El's weakening). It also explains why labys energy is similar but different from demons/Henir, like Elswords resonance with the El

I wish they told us more about Laby’s origin and not muddle it with “I’ve been here all by myself for so long, I don’t even remember being born” thing... I’m really curious why or how she ended up in Elrios, a world of El, if she has any connection to the demon realm, home of the Dark El.

...Really curious about her interaction with the El Search Party too. 15 characters though, oh boy (16 if you count Eun as well), there’s going to be a lot of chatter... I’m glad Nisha doesnt talk

I wish they didn’t insert the Rosso arc so soon into the story; I feel like we should’ve tied up all loose ends before exploring a whole new story and character... We’re still looking for Ran, Chung’s Dad, and trying to figure out what exactly happened to Ara’s hometown, but we got shoved in the face with Rosso raid @_@;;; .... it didn’t answer a lot of questions about the Dark El... I guess more screen time with Tyr?

Anyway, going back to what you said, it’s such a bummer that they only mentioned her interaction with the El (or her impression of when shit happened to the El) and not the Dark El... She is used to the demonic aura but her own aura is not demonic... so she must be one of the creatures from the demon realm that isn’t necessarily demon?

WHO WAS THE VOICE THAT TOLD HER TO STAY INSIDE THE BLACK FOREST I have too many questions and your revelation only confuses me further

but I do think it’d be interesting to see if we have an equivalent of Elsword for the Dark El... o_o
