Eloise's POV
A couple of hours ago my family arrived at Aubrey Hall and my youngest silings were running around the place like wild animals. My brothers have disappeared and Daphne is with mother, Lady Danbury, Kate and Edwina talking about the season somewhere around the house.
Which left me alone, sitting on an outdoor chair in the mansion's back garden and somewhat bored.
I did not want to participate in the conversation with my sister, mother and others; since the subject does not really interest me. I'd rather be with my brothers, but as soon as we set foot in Aubrey Hall two hours ago they disappeared and have shown no sign of life.
And I'm not going to be running all over the place, like Gregory and Hyacinth were doing.
I just pray that something interesting happens and it can keep me busy at least for a while. Because if this goes on like this, I'll end up cutting myself with the pages of my books and falling apart in the living room floor.
Apparently my prayers are answered, when one of the butlers appears and speaks to me.
XY: Miss Bridgerton, Prince Y/n of Hannover has just arrived and is waiting for you in the hall.- he informed me and I practically jumped out of my seat.
Eloise: That's great. - I comment happily and walking quickly towards the entrance of the mansion.
XY: If you don't need anything else, we'll take the prince's objects to his room assigned by Lady Bridgerton.- he comments when we reach the hall.
Eloise: We don't need anything else, thank you.- I thank him and after a slight bow he takes Y/n's luggage along with another man. -I thought you were never going to get there.- I say amused, crossing my arms and looking at the prince.
Y/n: I had a slight setback.- He informed me without much detail.
Eloise: What kind of setback? - I ask curiously, seeing the amusement in his eyes.
Y/n: One that doesn't concern you.- he answers me with grace and I just look at him badly. -Now, will you grant me the wish to give me a guided tour of the mansion or do I have to ask someone from the service?- he asks amused, raising an eyebrow and looking me straight in the eye.
Eloise: Ask someone from the service.- I answer challengingly, looking for a fun and entertaining reaction from him.
Y/n: I'll do that then.- he assures, leaning over and trying to walk towards the stairs.
Eloise: Where do you think you're going? - I ask amused running towards him and grabbing his arm to stop him.
Y/n: To ask if someone offers to give me a guided tour, since a certain Bridgerton doesn't want to and I don't want to get lost in the place.- he answers humorously and I look at him with narrowed eyes.
Eloise: Idiot.- I muttered hitting his arm. -Now follow me.- I order him and start walking towards the main hall.
I don't turn to see if he's following me or not, but I can hear his hurried footsteps and I smile helplessly, not knowing the reason for said smile.
POV Y/n
I don't know when I went from receiving a tour of the mansion to being in the huge back garden playing pall mall, but here I am now.
Daphne: We all know how the pall mall works.- she assures everyone present. - The first to choose the deck and strike first will be our guest Y/n.- she points to me with her hand and I look at her surprised.
Y/n: I guess thanks.- I appreciate it. -Which one does Eloise usually choose?- I asked Benedict in a whisper quickly.
Benedict: Yellow.- he whispers back to me with his hand in front of his mouth so that no one notices.
I nod surreptitiously and walk over to where all the decks are. I look at each deck and once my eyes land on the yellow one, I reach out without hesitation.
As my fingers wrap around the wood, I look up, meeting Eloise's blue gaze. I smile wickedly as I raised the mallet and I see the scowl on her face.
Y/n: Yellow is my favorite color. - I lie with a smile without taking my eyes off Eloise's.
The rest practically fight over the rest of the decks, before we start the game and the fights between the brothers are present.
Benedict: Eloise don't cheat.- he accuses his sister, who is moving her ball subtly and secretly with her foot.
Y/n: So besides being clumsy at dancing, you're a cheater at the game. - I whisper leaning towards her, so that only she can hear me.
Eloise: Shut up.- she growls at me pushing my chest with her hand.
Colin: Observe and learn people.- he says, positioning himself and hitting the ball with his mallet, but it doesn't go through the hoop.
Anthony: Sorry, what were you saying?- he asks his brother with an amused smile.
Kate: Don't you laugh so much.- she tells her husband, causing a bad face in him and laughter in the rest.
Daphne: None of you should laugh.- she assures everyone, preparing to her his ball with the mallet. -Because I plan to win as always.- she says confidently, hitting the ball and getting it through the hoop.
Benedict: Hey, I'm still in the game.- he reminds his sister with an amused smile.
Eloise: And me.- she assures them placing herself in the middle of everyone. -This year I plan to win.- she tells us all with confidence and I can't help but smile at her confidence.
We continue playing for a while longer, until the game ends and I end up winning to the surprise of everyone present. Although there is no surprise on my part, since I am a very good player and I am passionate about sports.
Y/n: And how about your victory Eloise? - I ask her amused while we all have dinner together.
Eloise: Very funny.- she says sarcastically looking at me with narrowed eyes. -But I know you cheated.- she threatens me seriously.
Y/n: And can you explain to me what cheating are you accusing me of? - I ask her amused, taking a sip of my wine.
Elosie: I don't know, yet.- she answered thoughtfully. -But I'm going to find out how you cheated to win and take away my victory.- she asures me and I just smile delighted.
Y/n: I'll be waiting then.- I assure her with a friendly smile.
The rest of dinner is spent talking to Benedict and Colin about minor trivia. We also make sure to taunt Eloise a bit, loud enough for her to hear us so we can tease her a bit.
When dinner is over, I sneak up to Lady Bridgerton and ask to speak to her in private. We entered the main library of the mansion and we both took a seat in the armchairs of the room.
Violet: And tell me my Lord, what is the reason for this conversation? - she asks me with evident interest.
Y/n: I wanted to talk about a serious and more important topic with you.- I answer trying to hide my nervousness.
Violet: Well, you will say.- she nods giving me the floor.
Y/n: As you may have noticed, I've been spending a lot of time with your daughter and it's clear that we've become somewhat close.- I start seeing how she nods with a small smile. -And I don't want to disrespect you or your family at any time.- I say trying to think of how to explain myself.
Violet: And you haven't.- she assures me with a friendly smile.
Y/n: I'm glad to hear that.- I nod with a nervous smile. -That's why I wanted to talk to you first, because you are Eloise's mother and it seemed the most appropriate thing to do in this situation.- I took a deep breath to calm my nerves. -I wanted to ask for your daughter's hand in marriage.- I ask directly.
Violet: Oh my god! - she exclaims in surprise, covering her mouth with her hand.
The room remains completely silent for a few moments, where I play with my hands as a sign of nervousness and uncertainty about the response of the woman in front of me.
Y/n: So what do you say? - I ask her a bit uncomfortable by the silence.
Violet: Of course I'll give you my daughter's hand.- she nods energetically. -As long as Eloise agrees to the proposition, I have nothing against it.- she confirms and I can't help but release the air retained inside me.
Y/n: I'm glad to know that your answer is positive. - I smile letting the retained nerves dissipate from my body.
Now I just have to propose to Eloise publicly and organize the wedding. Since thanks to our agreement, I know that Eloise will agree to marry me and there will be no problem with that part.
Violet: And you already have chosen the ring? - She asks me interested, leaning forward in a show of interest.
Y/n: Yes.- I nod, taking the black velvet box out of my pocket. -What do you think?- I ask, opening the box and showing her the object inside.
Violet: Oh my god, it's so precious.- she whispers, taking the small box in her hands and looking at the ring in greater detail.
Y/n: My aunt gave it to me to propose to your daughter.- I comment, seeing the surprise in her eyes.
Violet: Has the queen chosen the ring for my daughter?- she asks surprised.
Y/n: More than that.- I commented with a slight smile. -That ring was one of the first that my uncle, the King, gave to my aunt many years ago. The emerald is my aunt's favorite stone and she thought that the ring had a deep meaning, so it would be the perfect ring for my future wife. - I tell her and I can see a different shine in her eyes.
Violet: And she's right. Rings with meaning are more unique than any recently bought. - she nods, giving me back the box with the ring.
Y/n: So with your permission, tomorrow I'll ask Eloise for her hand. - I nod, putting the velvet box back in my jacket pocket.
Violet: I just hope my daughter says yes, because it would be a pleasure to have you as part of the family.- she tells me and we both get up, ending the conversation.
We left the library, saying goodnight and parting ways. I head towards the bedroom assigned to me and on the way I meet Eloise with her little sister.
In order not to arouse any kind of suspicion, I wish them both a good night and secretly nod to my future fiancée.
I can see her eyes widen slightly as she realizes what my nod means and she gives me a slight nod letting me know she's understood.
Now I just have to think about how to ask for her hand tomorrow and do it in a way so that her family believes that we are really in love. But with how good of an actress Eloise is, I'm sure everyone will believe us right away without any problem.
Eloise's POV
I'm nervous. Why am I nervous? This is simply a trade and there is no reason to be nervous.
I just have to say a simple yes and the rest of my life will be taken care of. I will be completely free and I will stop feeling any kind of pressure to get married or find a husband. It is a simple word that will open all doors for me.
This is a simple transaction, there are no feelings involved and that's why I don't understand the reason for my nerves.
My hands tremble as they caress the soft fabric of my white dress, feeling the softness and delicacy of silk.
Violet: You look beautiful honey.- she whispers looking at my reflection in the mirror over my shoulder.
Eloise: I'm not going out. - I deny energetically.
Violet: And why is that dear? - she asks me interested with a smile on her face.
Eloise: I don't know if I'm ready to get married.- I answer, feeling my heart beat faster.
Violet: Oh dear.- she sighs placing her hands on my arms. -It's the nerves that are speaking.- she assures me caressing my arms with affection.
Eloise: Why would I be nervous? - I ask confused, feeling a certain amount of comfort from her touch.
Violet: Because it's one of the most important days for a woman, darling.- she answers with an understanding look. -The day of my wedding with your father, I was trembling with nerves and anticipation. It is understandable to feel nervous on your wedding day and especially when you love the person you will marry.- she tries to comfort me and I avoid opening my eyes for the last part.
Eloise: How did you know you loved father? - I ask a little scared by her answer.
Violet: I wouldn't know how to explain it.- she sighs with a slight grimace. -What I do know is that every time I thought of him, a smile appeared on my face without even noticing it, my stomach turned when he was near me, my skin quivered every time he touched my hand and every time that I was doing something i liked; immediately I wanted to share it with him.- she tells me and I remain thoughtful.
I think about the times when a smile adorned my face when I thought of Y/n, about how being with him makes me enjoy someone else's company and the long talks we have.
I think about how an essential warmth invades my body when he is near me, when he smiles at me or when he brings me books thinking that I might like them.
I find that every time I read a new book, I think about whether he would like to read it so we can discuss it together.
Finally, I am aware of how in the few times he has touched my hand and kissed it, my body reacts to his touch. I can remember the pleasant tingling that runs through my body at his touch and it is now when I open my eyes in surprise.
Eloise: I love Y/n.- I murmured without really knowing what to do.
I feel my mind go around and around without really knowing how it happened. At what point have I gone from supporting Y/n, accepting his proposal and maintaining a friendly relationship, to loving him.
Violet: Why else would you have agreed to marry him?- she asks with a certain degree of amusement in her tone of voice.
Eloise: I have to talk to Y/n.- I say alarmed.
Violet: You'll see him at the altar in a few minutes and then you can talk to him all you want.- she assures me with a smile.
Eloise: No mom .- I deny turning around and looking around upset. -I need to talk to him now!- I assured him in a hurry trying to dodge her and go looking for him.
Violet: No, no, no.- she denies grabbing my arm and preventing me from leaving the room. -The groom can't see the bride before the wedding.- she immediately denies.
Eloise: You don't understand mom, I have to talk to him.- I beg desperately and a few seconds away from a desperate cry.
Violet: Honey, calm down.- she asks me, caressing my arms again. -Take a deep breath and inhale slowly.- she orders me and I nod trying to regulate my breathing.
Once I am calmer, my mother takes me to the sofa in one of the many rooms in the palace and makes me sit down.
Violet: Are you feeling better?- she asks me and I nod, taking a deep breath once more.
Eloise: Yes.- I murmur directing my gaze to my hands, which are still trembling and apparently my mother notices as she places her hands on mine.
Violet: You don't have to get upset darling, everything will be fine and you don't have to get so nervous.- she assures me. -You're just nervous, just breathe and try to relax.- she tells me and I nod trying to stop my hands from shaking.
We stay in silence for a few minutes, where I manage to calm down enough so that my hands stop shaking.
Some light knocks are heard at the door of the room and Benedict's head appears through it.
Benedict: Everything is ready.- he tells us entering the room. -They are waiting for the bride.- he says with a smile and I take a deep breath.
Violet: Are you ready? - she asks me and I am only able to nod. -Well then, let's get going.- she says getting up from the sofa and helping me to get up too.
I walk to where my brother is, who immediately smiles at me and gives me his arm to intertwine with mine.
With each step I take toward the ceremony room, my heart pounding in my ears and my breathing becoming heavy. I swallow heavily, when my brother stops in front of the closed living room doors and looks at me for approval.
I stay for a few moments watching the big white doors of the room, as soon as they open everything will be real and I'll be walking towards my future husband.
I don't know what to do.
If I go through with the plan and say yes, I'll be marrying the man I love. But he doesn't love me and it doesn't seem fair.
And on the other hand, if I decide to run away and leave the plan behind, everyone will start talking about me and my family again. My family has already suffered a lot with the rumors and above all thanks to me.
Plus it wouldn't be the first time a Bridgerton wedding has been called off and we all know how that ended.
But that is not the worst.
The worst thing is that this time the queen is not only the hostess of the wedding, but she is the aunt of the future husband and that will cause me to be banished from London.
Because what Lady Whistledown wrote about me being a political radical turned her against me and made her have a bad opinion of me. I don't want to imagine the opinion she'll have of me if I leave her heir standing at the altar.
Benedict: Are you okay? - he asks me in a whisper taking me out of my thoughts.
Eloise: I don't know.- I answer honestly.
Benedict: It's not too late, you know right? - he asks me causing me to look at him confused.
Eloise: Late for what? - I ask wanting to understand what my brother tells me.
Benedict: Too late to cancel the wedding.- he answers me with a comforting smile. -Just tell me and we'll run away like no one has ever done before.- he assures me with a small laugh.
I watch him for a few seconds, considering the offer and weighing every possible outcome of my escape. The idea sounds tempting and I'm sure Benedict will defend me and help with everything.
You're POV
I swallow heavily, running my hands through my morning coat and wiping the sweat from my hands. I watch the guests talk to each other in whispers, causing my nervousness to increase and a knot to form in my stomach.
Lady Bridgerton has entered the room almost ten minutes ago, but she has entered alone and no one has entered after her.
She's supposed to be with Eloise, to help her get ready and her presence here assures me that Eloise is ready. But it doesn't show up anywhere, because she is nowhere to be seen.
I look over to where my aunt is sitting for comfort, seeing the impatience and worried look on her face. She seems to notice my look, as she offers me a small smile and a reassuring nod.
But I can't calm down when I feel hundreds of eyes on me and I can hear the murmurs of those present.
My gaze then falls on where the Bridgertons are sitting, muttering and talking a little erratically to each other. That alarms me even more.
What if Eloise regrets the deal and backs out? What if she leaves me standing at the altar?
That would explain the lateness and the stressed look on the face of the Bridgertons family matriarch. Maybe she already knows and is telling the rest of the family.
My breath stops when the doors of the room open and one of my aunt's waiters enters the room.
XY: Miss Eloise Bridgerton by the hands of Mr. Benedict Bridgerton.- he announces and I can feel myself breathing again.
But as soon as I start to breathe, the air gets stuck in my throat and it's because of something else entirely.
My mind goes completely blank as I see Eloise in her wedding dress with her hair up in a high bun. The light that enters through the windows of the room illuminates her dress and she looks like a complete angel.
The train of the dress trails gently across the floor, as does her veil, which rests just in front of the updo on her head and at the beginning of the train of her dress.
I'm not aware of the moment when Eloise has reached my side and Benedict offers me her hand. I'm only aware when my soon-to-be wife's brother clears his throat and the noise snaps me out of my reverie.
Y/n: Sorry.- I whisper embarrassed, feeling the heat flood my cheeks and receiving my fiancée's hand.
Benedict: Take care of her.- he threatens me seriously, before walking away and sitting with the rest of the family.
Priest: We are gathered here to celebrate the union between Prince Y/n of Hannover and Miss Eloise Bridgerton.- he begins to speak, but I only observe Eloise's profile and try to be as discrete as possible. -Love is something... ... ... ....- He speaks but I ignore him, looking only at the woman to my left. -Now I want you to repeat with me, you first prince. With this ring, I take you Eloise Bridgerton as my wife, to love you and take care of you in sickness and in health, in riches and in poverty until death do us part.- he says and I look at the priest paying attention to him again .
Y/n: With this ring, I take you Eloise Bridgerton as my wife, to love you and take care of you in sickness and in health, in riches and in poverty until death do us part.- I recite while staring at her eyes, receiving the ring from the priest and placing it on her finger.
Priest: Now your tourn Miss Bridgerton.- he says, offering her the other ring and I can see how she takes it with a trembling hand.
Eloise: With this ring, I take you Y/n from Hannover as my husband, to love you and take care of you in sickness and in health, in riches and in poverty until death do us part.- she says nervously and shakily placing the ring on my finger.
Priest: With this exchange of rings, this marriage unites and will be consolidated with a kiss.- he says and I look nervously at the woman in front of me. -You can kiss each other.- he tells us.
I take a deep breath, before taking a step forward closing my eyes and leaning down feeling the erratic beating of my heart.
For a moment, my heart stops completely when my lips make contact with hers, and I can feel her breathing stop.
As we break from the kiss, I open my eyes to look at my now wife and see that she's still keeping them closed. I smile at the image and when she opens her eyes, she immediately smiles back at me.
I extend my hand to her, which she immediately entwines with hers and I direct her towards the large backyard where the celebration will take place.
Eloise: I have to talk to you.- she whispers so that only I can hear heron our walk outside.
Y/n: Bad or good? - I ask confused, smiling at the guests.
Eloise: It depends.- she answers me, doing the same action as me.
Y/n: Okay.- I nod almost imperceptibly.
But as soon as we set foot in the garden, people come to greet us and congratulate us on the wedding. Every time we try to get away so we can talk, someone steps up and stops that from happening.
But I take advantage of a moment when everyone is watching the fireworks, to grab Eloise by the hand and pull her behind some tall hedges a bit away from the crowd.
Y/n: What did you wanted to talk about? - I ask her in a whisper, not wanting to speak too loud and be heard.
Eloise: It's about the agreement.- she whispers, looking around making sure there's no one around.
Y/n: What about the agreement? - I ask completely confused.
Eloise: What happens if there is something that alters or changes the agreement? - she answers me with another question.
Y/n: I don't know.- I answer honestly. -I couldn't know if something could alter or change our agreement, if I don't know what it is about.- I clarify and see how she bites her lower lip nervously.
Eloise: Hypothetically speaking.- she clarifies nervously and I nod. -What would happen if one of the two parties ends up falling in love with the other party?- she asks, looking anywhere but at me and my heart races.
Y/n: Hypothetically speaking? - I ask and she nods. -That maybe the other party has also fallen in love.- I admit feeling the heat on my cheeks from shame.
She opens her eyes wide, directing her gaze to me and staring at me. I try to calm my heart; not wanting to have a heart attack.
Eloise: You...? - she asks me uncertainly, pointing to herself and I nod nervously.
Y/n: And you..? - I ask in the same way, pointing to me and she nods, joining her lips in a straight line.
Eloise: And now what? - she asks, avoiding my gaze and I decide to be brave.
I take two steps towards her, moving closer to her body and gently placing my hand on her chin. I force her head up and look at me, before I say what I've wanted to say for a month.
Y/n: Do you want to see the world with me? - I ask with a small nervous smile.
Eloise: Yes.- she nods with a slight redness on her cheeks after a couple of seconds.
I can't stand her closeness anymore, so I finish bringing my face closer to hers and I put our lips together again.
This time, the kiss is longer and lets us release all the feelings we had stored. My hands are placed on her waist, to be able to bring her closer to me and to be able to hug her by the hip against my body.
While her hands go up my arms and intertwine with each other at the nape of my neck.
We kiss until the air becomes necessary and we put our foreheads together to maintain the closeness between our faces.
Y/n: I love you.- I admit for the first time out loud without taking my eyes off hers.
Eloise: I love you.- she whispers and this time she is the one who brings our lips together in a hungry kiss.
If someone had told me that an agreed marriage proposal would have led me to meet the love of my life, I would never have believed it.
But fate is capricious and you never know where it will turn out.
But looking back from the backyard of my mansion with my wife, where I am playing with our four children and my beautiful wife is reading a book in a chair in the sun, that proposition was the wisest choice of my life.

Golden Son
Yandere!Bridgertons x Male!Sibling/Son!readee
╰・゚✧☽ new season was amazing and I had this idea in my mind. Partly because I was jealous of Colin the whole time.
╰・゚✧☽ warning: yandere behavior, over protective, Platonic
-`。゚˘: ゚⋆ ––✷☽ ᱬ ☽✷––⋆ ゚: ˘ ゚。.`-
Ever since you were little all they ever wanted to do was be around you. Fighting for who gets to play with you, or who got to hold you when you were born.
The middle child getting much attention? That was rare but all they could do was give it to you.
Your older brothers, and sister, would fight over who got to teach you. Having a sibling to look up to was important and they did everything in their power to get you to favor them more.
Eloise was born after you. But she wanted your attention from the minute her brain could think. You are her ideal and safe space. seeing her as more then just a woman.
God forbid you look so close to your father, everyone is more protective over you. Especially your mother, who dots on you almost every second.
When you are older the younger ones get to keep your time because it’s fare. They have more free time and you can’t say no.
You are the talk of the town really because you are so rarely at the balls or events because the family likes to keep you safe.
So everyone is always marveled at the sight of you.
Until it is time for you to take your first debut in the season.
Another Bridgerton man who wants to find a wife? Ladies are lining up at the door.
Whether you want the attention or not, your siblings can’t allow anyone near you they don’t want…So everyone.
They ask questions to make them unsure of themselves and uncomfortable. Or pull you around the room and leaving the girls to their defeat.
If you want love then they will grant you to have it, but they must like the person and get to know them along side you.
If lady whistledown wrote anything bad about you? They will unmasks her so quickly it’s bad.
And if Eloise already knows? She’s making her pay. And if Colin is courting her and already asked her to marry him? He’d dump her in a second. You are his little brother, his favorite little star.
You are the family’s glue. You make them happy, feel at home and safe.

The Emerald of the Season.
Eloise Bridgerton x Male Character
Word Count: 1,093
Part 2/?
Relationship: Eloise Bridgerton/Male Character
Warning: No

Part 3: https://www.tumblr.com/shinyhoundhandseagle/754373682092277760/the-emerald-of-the-season
• • •
“What did you think of the ball?”- Asked The Queen looking at her youngest nephew. The boy, too concerned with eating, didn’t seem to hear her-. “Does you father not feed you?”
“I apologize, traveling always makes my appetite grow”-. He dedicated his aunt a sweet smile and put the fork down to then clean the corner of his mouth with the napkin-. “It was good I guess”.
“Did anyone catch your eye?”
He could be honest, he could but he knew better than that. What was he supposed say? ‘Yes, I found this girl who clearly has a distaste for society and it’s norms’. Might as well tell her he agreed with the ‘radicals’. Which he did but as the next King of Spain, he couldn’t say that out loud. If his father found out, horrible things would happen to him.
“No, everyone seem pretty bland”.
“Just wait, I feel it”-. She reassured him with a smile as he went back to eating-. “This will be your season”.
“Maybe. Now Marcel are you ready for the market?”
• • •
“Eloise let’s go!”- Her mother called from downstairs. She liked going to the market, being able to be outside and enjoy the sun felt amazing but she knew that after what happened with Theo and Lady Whistleown last year she wouldn’t be allowed to be out alone anymore. Her family wasn’t angry at her but their reputation laid on keeping her under control. So she went with her mother instead.
The way there was quiet, Eloise looking out the window deep in thought. Thoughts about missing Theo, hating Lady Whistledown, worrying about Penelope but the number one thought in her mind right now was Sebastian… The Prince of Spain. Their talk was nice but she felt like an idiot for not knowing or realizing that he was a Prince, even if he wasn’t London’s Prince.
Once they got there they decided just walk around the market. Her mother talking about Daphne, the new season, Colin, etc. She had decided to ignore her after a bit and walked separately from her.
“Eloise!”- The voice made her turn abruptly, just to be faced with a soft smile. Sebastian was standing right behind her with a servant right behind him-. “Marcel, this is Eloise Bridgerton. The Lady I spoke to you about”.
She hated how her heart skipped a beat at knowing that the Prince was maybe thinking about her. How her breath got caught on her throat when his eyes locked with hers.
“You been speaking about me?”
“Only good things, I swear”-. The servant, Marcel, nodded softly agreeing with the Prince-. “How are you?”
“Thrilled for the next ball”-. Her sarcastic tone and eye rolled gained a giggle from the Sebastian but she quickly remembered her manners and the expectations on how to talk to, or about, the monarchy-. “How are you my Prince?”
“First of all calm me Sebastian, I would prefer it and acting this formal doesn’t really suit you”-. His smiled seem genuine and gentle as he offered his arm to her-. “Would you like to walk with me?”
“Of course”-. She took his arm and starting walking around the market with Marcel close behind them.
“How did you like the first ball?”
“It was… good?”
“You really don’t have to pretend with me. In my opinion, it was too long and boring. One ask himself if the dresses and spectacle is the only thing that keeps the ton from hating themselves or gives their boring lives meaning”.
Eloise looked at him, surprised. She wasn’t expecting a man, specially a Prince, to have so much disdain and contempt against a society that put him over anyone else.
“I wouldn’t think a man of your status would feel that way”.
“Why? Because you believe this society makes my life easy to bear?”
“You’re a man, a rich one if we’re being honest and the way society works makes that possible for you”-. They stopped in front of some flowers as she let go of his hand and looked at his eyes-. “I’m a woman without the right to speak of my behalf but I don’t understand why you would hate it so much”.
“While I don’t disagree with your pain, I do believe you don’t understand the type of scrutiny and expectations all of us, including men, are under. The world is so much more unjust that what you see Eloise”.
His piercing blue eyes locked with hers, searching to unravel her soul and mind with a simple look. Eloise wasn’t a woman that usually blushed over men and their physical appearance but she couldn’t deny it this time. He was handsome.
While those thoughts were running through her head, he decided to admired her. She was beautiful, with her dark brown hair and her dark blue eyes, she wasn’t that much shorter than him (maybe a few inches) and her pretty pink lips.
“Ma’am, could I buy some of your flowers?”- His eyes turned to the lady selling flowers next to them. She smiled and nodded. Marcel gave her some money for a small bouquet of beautiful sunflowers-. “For you my Lady”.
He offered them to Eloise, who took the with a polite smile. She wasn’t a flowers girl but they were pretty.
“Thank yo…”
“Eloise!”- Their stare contest was interrupted by her mother. Violet walked to them, followed by 2 maids, and honestly she couldn’t control the surprise expression on her face as she saw her daughter with the Prince. It took her a second to do her courtesy but once she remembered she gave him a smile and did it-. “Oh, Your Highness”.
“Sebastian, this is my mother Lady Violet Bridgerton”-. Eloise introduced her mother quickly.
“Nice to meet you, Lady Bridgerton. Sorry if I have kept Eloise for too long, we were just chatting”.
“Oh you do not have to apologize for that my Prince”-. She definitely had to ask Eloise about that conversation. Hopefully she hadn’t said anything to insult him-. “I just came to tell her we were done but you’re invited for dinner at our house tonight if you’re interested”.
“Thank you for the invitation Lady Bridgerton but I won’t be able to attend tonight but hopefully I’ll see both of you at the next ball?”
“Of course!”- Violet was excited and terrified about the possibility of the Prince being interested in her family.
“Well, its been a pleasure. Eloise will I see you later?”
“Yes, I’ll see you later Sebastian”.
“That would make me really happy”.

Proposal
Hello. How are you? I came to tell you that because of my personal problems, I didn't have much image to write, but a few days ago I downloaded an artificial intelligence that allows you to create characters and interact with them in a chat, (sometimes the characters do somewhat random things and He says things that don't make sense, but it's easy to fix), so it occurred to me to make fics of those interactions that I have with the characters, from Stranger Things to Bridgerton hahaha.
Tell me if you like the idea :)
Huge kisses💋

Precious Truths: Part 4
Fandom: Bridgerton
Pairing: Benedict Bridgerton x F!Reader
Summary: After your father finds out you’ve been writing under a male pseudonym, he threatens to marry you off to an atrocious man unless you find yourself a husband within a month’s time.
A/N: I will not be taking tags for this series!
Series Masterlist
The next day, your Aunt Eliza takes you to the modiste for new dresses. The ones you had gotten earlier in the season "wouldn't do anymore" according to her. Now, you had to stand out more, make yourself look more appealing. Corsets were tighter, hugging your figure more and making you breathe less.
Your aunt is holding up some fabric against you when Dowager Viscountess Bridgerton enters the shop with an annoyed Eloise following her.
"Good afternoon, Lady Bridgerton," you greet the woman with a kind smile.
She observes the fabric held against you, "Well, that is a beautiful fabric. It goes well with your eyes."
"Thank you," you give her a small nod.
Violet clears her throat, "I assume things are...well now?" The dowager does her best to be discreet.
"As well as they can be, Lady Bridgerton," you respond.
After Aunt Eliza brought you home, your father was asleep, still cradling a bottle of brandy in his hand.
You confessed to Aunt Eliza about your secret identity, about your writings. She was proud to know that you never truly gave up on poetry as well as how famous your words were becoming. However, she was saddened that you felt the need to hide your ongoing love for poetry from her. She expressed that she would have helped you, that you didn't need to hide that love from her, especially since she also loved your mother like her own sister.
Aunt Eliza became even more determined to help you out of the situation.
Although your father and Aunt Eliza are siblings, none of the luxuries of your father's lordship well onto her. She also never found someone to marry, becoming a spinster and learning to become content with it.
She can only do so much to help you, given that your father still has the funds to help. Thankfully, your Aunt Eliza had stepped in to help manage the finances.
"Remember, dear, if there's anything you need, you let me know. We are happy to help," Violet says as she places a comforting hand on your shoulder.
"Thank you, Lady Bridgerton. Your family has always been so kind to me."
Violet gives a smile and greets your aunt, the two moving towards a shelf of silks that catch their eyes. You move to Eloise with a grin, whose face is the complete opposite of yours, "Everything alright, El?"
She groans, "You disappoint me. Mama, says you're taking this season more seriously now and that I should do the same. I blame you for this!"
You let out a deep breath, "My condolences, but, trust me, this wasn't the plan either."
The young Bridgerton steps closer to you and whispers, "What happened? Anthony and Benedict were talking about you this morning when we were breaking fast."
You blow air out of your mouth, "My father threatened to marry me off to my dreadful cousin if I am unable find a husband within a month's time."
Eloise makes a pondering face and then asks, "Is it the cousin that visited a few summers ago? He tried to best Anthony in everything?"
You scrunch your face in distaste, "The very same."
Eloise shudders, "God, he was...appalling."
"Yes, and there is absolutely no chance I am marrying him. So, you see, I'm lacking a choice." You give her a pointed look and she nods.
"Oh, Y/N," Eloise hugs you, "We shall both get through this together."
Aunt Eliza calls from the door, "Y/N, make haste! We must continue!"
Your shoulder slump forward, "I'm coming!" you give Eloise a wave and follow your aunt out.
______________________________
Benedict's in the sitting room, sketching in his notebook. He's sketching a pair of eyes, ones soft and full of wonder. The very pair that belongs to you, the eyes that he loses himself in.
"Here," parchment falls over the sketch and Benedict sits up, looking at Anthony, who's given him the paper.
"And this is...?"
"The list of eligible men for Y/N."
Benedict gulps as he reads of the names, sitting up to read the list "No to Harris," he says with a shake of his head and then grimaces, "Absolutely not to Woodrich."
"What's wrong with them? They're from good standing families, no scandals-"
"That you know of. I hear Harris has been visiting the brothels far too often lately. Woodrich apparently invested in the empty mines that Lord Featherington spoke of last season. So he has no money."
Anthony gives his brother an annoyed expression, "I shall cross them off the list, but the rest of them?"
Benedict hands the paper back to his brother, "I suppose they're alright. But Y/N gets the final say, obviously."
"So you have truly decided you won't do anything about this whole ordeal?" Anthony asks his brother in disbelief.
Benedict stands with a sigh, "Yes, brother. I have. I won't do anything but assist in Y/N's search for a husband. That is final." He steps aside, striding out of the room in annoyance.
Hyacinth, who sits with Gregory playing a game of chess, shakes her head, "I always thought Y/N and Benedict would get married."
Anthony nods, "As did I, Hyacinth," he murmurs and also exits the sitting room.
____________________________
No longer were you able to be a wallflower when it came to balls, soirees, luncheons, etc. You and Penelope had been wallflowers together since both of your debuts. However, now Penelope is on her honeymoon with Colin, so you are left to fend for yourself.
You now stood more towards the front, more accessible and noticeable. You hated it. You hated how people looked at you when you attended the next ball with your new gown and different hairstyle.
When you saw the Bridgertons, you immediately rush up to them, clinging onto Benedict's arm.
"Please dance with me," you beg in desperation, yearning for some sense of familiarity.
"Of course," Benedict takes your gloved hand and leads you to the dancefloor. When he looks over his shoulder, Kate is winking at him and he rolls his eyes.
You curtsey as Benedict bows before the next dance, a waltz. With the strings, you and Benedict move as one. Swaying to the melody, bringing each other in close.
"Thank you, Ben, for dancing with me."
"Of course. It is tradition at this point, is it not?" he gives you that cheeky grin that always makes your heart flutter.
You sigh, "Might be the last time I get to dance with you for a while. I should probably prioritize potential suitors."
Benedict's smile slowly fades, "Yes, well, Anthony came up with an impressive list. I overlooked it as well. You might find some of them...agreeable."
You hum as you circle Benedict, "Are any of these men here now?"
Benedict takes a quick glance around the room, "A few of them. Shall I introduce you?"
You shake your head, "No. Thank you, but it is probably best I do that myself. You might scare them off," you give him a smirk and he chuckles.
"That is a fair argument. If I am quite honest, I don't think any man will truly be worthy enough for you."
You arch a brow at him, "Oh?"
He nods, "You're...everything and so much more."
The way he says those words, you feel like there's something more to them. He relayed them to you so breathlessly and he's looking at you with a gaze that makes you feel as though you two are the only ones in the room.
As the dance nears its end, you and Benedict are face to face, so close to lips touching. However, when he inches closer to you, you pull away and curtsey.
"Thank you for indulging me, Mister Bridgerton," you walk away from him without another word, fanning yourself as you grow warm.

Summary: A sudden house call, freaks the Bridgertons out. Out for a stroll, you hope Eloise would be comfortable enough around you certainly now that you have set your mind on courting her. [Series]
Hyacinth gapsed loud, running up to the window. Coming to sit at the windowsill, glueing her face to the window. - "A carriage is stopping at our house." - she called out in excitement. Gregory rushed over to her, trying to shove her away.
Starting to bicker about it. Nudging each other in the side, a push in one's face here and there. Benedict jumped up joining them by the window. He shoved their heads aside with a giddy smile. - "That is a royal carriage." - he pointed out.
Looking over his shoulder to his mother with a smirk. Violet's eyes lit up as she glanced to her daughter sitting beside her. Her entire face lighting up as her hand went down on Eloise's knee. - "What?" - Eloise called out, slouched in the sofa with her arms crossed. - "A royal carriage my darling." - Violet clearified with a cheeky glance. Eloise looked away with a puff. - "Who says it's even him." - she responded. Benedict grinned at her, hand pressed on the window.
"Oh, it is him sister." - he said teasingly. Eloise's eyes widened. Violet stood up with fear in her eyes. - "Dear lords." - she called out in a panic. Clapping in her hands she urged Hyacinth and Gregory away from the window. They rushed away, coming to sit in the sofa. - "He's coming up the doorway." - Benedict called out as Violet let out a yelp of panic. Violet tapped Eloise hard to sit properly.
Benedict moved away from the window. Spinning around mindlessly to think of where he would position himself. Violet orchestrated to Hyacinth to stop pestering her brother and be perfectly still. Benedict settled for the fireplace, leaning against it with his arm. Gregory had taken a book pretending to read it. Violet flattened her dress. The knock on the door made her sit down quickly. The door opened as you were announced. Entering to witness a picture perfect painting.
Everyone looking curious your way, making you feel observed. Violet got up to welcome you. You bowed to her as it made her stare bewildered back. - "Welcome your royal highness." - she said with a curtsy. She cleared her throat loud as her children got up, curtsying or bowing to you. - "We are honoured to have you in our presence, your royal highness." - " she continued warmly.
Reaching back for her daughter, she took Eloise's arm, shoving her to the front. Eloise shot her mother a glare before smiling sheepishly at you. You took her hand bringing it to your lips to kiss them gently. It left Eloise flustered, making Benedict snort loud. Gregory stomped on his foot to silence him. Benedict pressing his lips together to supress a yell. - "Please be welcome, your royal highness." - Violet gestured at the sofa's.
"If you do not mind Lady Bridgerton, I would like to accompany miss Eloise for a walk on this fine day." - you proposed. Violet giggled brightly. - "What a wonderful idea your royal highness." - she answered. You offered Eloise your arm as she gladly took it. With Violet right behind you. Benedict, Hyacinth and Gregory rushed to the window once you had left the drawing room. Wanting to see the departure.
Hyacinth sighed dreamy at the window. - "I want to marry a prince." - she said dreamingly. - "If anyone even wants to marry you." - Gregory teased in a tone of mockery. It made Hyacinth punch him in the armpit. Benedict needing to pull them apart with a deep sigh. Eloise quirked her eyebrow up, looking curious around. Before her question could even be spoken appeared Claude from behind the carriage. Following in line just 6 steps behind you.
Eloise gave Claude a comforting smile as he tilted his head in return with a nod. Violet walked in pace with Claude, admiring her daughter and the prince. - "How have you been miss Eloise?" - you asked to deafen out the silence. - "Oh." - Eloise chuckled nervously out. - "Very well your royal highness." - she answered. Looking away with mockery at herself for sounding so fabricated.
When she looked back at you it was with a nervous laugh. It made you clear your throat, looking away. Something had changed the tension and you didn't like it. Ever since you proclaimed to her you'd want to court her, everything has been awkward. Sometimes you wished it was like before where she was at ease around you. Violet and Claude shared a nervous glance. Guiding Eloise on her stroll towards the park.
Wanting to get away from the streets. Having noticed several eyes focus on you, pointing and whispering. No doubt an appearance would be made in Whistledown's morning's edition. The four of you neared the park as you felt her arm tense a bit around yours. - "Are you comfortable enough? If you'd rather return home I understand." - you told her, wanting to keep her as comfortable as possible.
Eloise turned her gaze up to you. - "I am comfortable." - she replied untensing her muscles. You gestured to a bench as Eloise nodded. She let go of your arm, sitting down. You came sitting down beside her. Hands nervously rubbing over your knees. - "Miss Eloise the last thing I want to be is intimidating to you." - you said. - "Oh but you are n..." - she answered turning more towards you. You didn't let her finish as you wanted her to feel herself around you.
"Please just see me as normal Y/n. Plain Y/n who simply enjoys being outdoors with a girl he likes." - you continued as Eloise's cheeks flushed red. She looked bashful away. To set an example, you leaned back on the back. Sinking a bit down to slouch. Eloise laughed loud as it made you smile. Violet looked at Claude with a spark of hope. Exhaling deep, you gazed upon the lake. - "Magnificent." - you let out at the beautiful scenery.
"It is even more beautiful with you here." - you went on making her smile. Eloise took a deep breath, coming loose. Before you knew it she was talking to you with passion about some subject. Violet stared in horror at her for being such a waterfall with no filter. You chuckled, listening carefully as you loved that about her.
Claude cleared his throat after an hour that it was time. You got up as Eloise followed. The four of you returning to her home. By your carriage you took her hand once more to kiss it. - "I enjoyed today your royal highness." - Eloise spoke with a smile.
"As did I. Shame it has been short." - you responded. She hummed loud. - "I would've loved to hear more about you." - Eloise answered. - "How about an invitation to my home?" - you suggested as Eloise's gaze widened with a slight shock.

Eloise Bridgerton - "The Prince" (Part 1)
Eloise Bridgerton x Male reader/oc
Summary: Two people who have never seen each other before, with the same need and desire to be free in different ways. What could come of that when both people meet each other?
Words: 3.983

Masterlist
POV Narrator
In a castle located three hours from the center of London, two men are in a meeting and in a somewhat heated discussion. One of the men is in his late 40s, while the other much younger looking man is in his 23s.
XY: You will go to the palace with your aunt and you will participate in this year's social season.- declares the older of both.
XY2: You can't do this to me father.- denies the youngest . -You can't force me to look for a wife.- the son denies.
XY: I'm not forcing you to look for a wife, just to participate in the social season and look for someone to love.- he claims to his son. -You are twenty-three years old and at your age, I was already married to your mother and already had your brother.- he reproached him, causing the young man to cross his arms.
Y/n: But I don't want to get married, I want to travel and see the world.- he comments getting up from the chair. -I want to get to know different cultures, learn languages and see places that most people can only dream of.- he says walking through the office.
XY: And you will.- he assures her calmly. -But once you find someone, you fall in love and get married.- he dictates, continuing with his writing.
Y/n: And who assures me of that, father.- he says passing his hand through his almond-blonde hair. -We both know that as soon as I get married, I'll have to take care of my wife and start producing heirs. When will I travel ? - he asks the older man.
XY: I assure you that you will travel.- he says looking back at his only living heir. -What do you think if we make a deal?- he offers leaving the pen in its container
Y/n: What deal?- he asks interested, sitting back in the dark blue suede chair in front of his father's desk.
XY: If you manage to fall in love and get married this season, you will be able to travel around the world for 6 months and I myself will pay for your travel expenses. In addition to that, I promise to give you a house, wherever you want as a wedding gift to you and your wife; without the need for you to generate heirs immediately.- the father offers and this captures the attention and interest of the child.
Y/n: But ... - He begins by meeting his father.
XY: You will have to be really in love, you will show me your love for her and your aunt has to give you the go-ahead.- he finishes speaking. -What do you say, do w have a deal? - he questions his son.
Y/n: Okay.- the youngest nods with a sigh, allowing the light curls on his head to bounce subtly and his father to notice it.
XY: So tomorrow morning you will go to the palace, where you will stay with your uncles and before leaving you will receive a haircut.- He points out his son's slightly long hair.
Y/n: Yes father.- accept tired. - Can I retire to my room now? - he asks and the father nods.
XY: Make sure you have all the clothes ready first thing in the morning.- he reminds him as the young man leaves the office.
And that's what happens the next day. After a haircut and loading the suitcases into the family's navy blue carriage. Father and son say goodbye with a hug, before the youngest gets on the carriage and it sets off towards the palace.
Dear readers,
Have you missed me? Because here I am once again, ready to talk and comment on the events of this new season.
While our respected high society was enjoying their country retreat once more, this author did only one thing: polish my art. Or should I say hatching my plans? No, even better. I was sharpening my knives even more and collecting information.
Apparently, a few hours after the debuts of this season, two luxurious-looking carriages have arrived at the palace and they were loaded with abundant luggage.
Could it be that the queen will host a debutant or debutante of the royal family this season, as she did with her nephew Prince Friedrich of Prussia?
On the other hand, Queen Charlotte has once again done something unexpected and has renamed Edwina Sharma as the diamond this season. It will be that she is not happy with the failure of last season with her diamond, that she is trying to remedy the situation and regain her credibility when choosing the diamond of the season.
We also have the Bridgertons to congratulate, as the Viscount and Viscountess have just welcomed their first heir with open arms. And they will not only celebrate the birth of the little girl, but also the debut of two Bridgertons more. Will the matriarch of the family be capable of directing and helping three children at the same time in search of a partner?
It only remains to wait and see everything that this season has in store for us. What mysteries and secrets our high society hides that they do not want to be known.
Always yours,
Lady Whistledown.
POV YOU
I listen to what my aunt reads aloud as we eat dinner, watching disgust and anger fill every feature of her face. I look at my cousin Friedrich , who continues having dinner and not giving importance to what is being read .
Charlotte: How dare that woman question my ability to select, I am the one who created the idea of the diamond and I have not failed even once, until last season. - she grumbles, leaving the newspaper with force on the table.
Y/n: Aunt, don't give importance to that gossip newspaper, they are not important and you are one of the most capable and intelligent women I know.- I assure her with a slight smile.
Charlotte: You will see my dear nephew Y/n, I appreciate your sincere and encouraging words.- she tells me with a small smile. -But if the people believe what this woman writes, my past successes don't matter, much less if it only reflects my only failure.- she explains and I frown at her annoyance.
Friederich: You are the queen, ignore it and the rest of the town will too.- he comments without much interest.
Charlotte: What I will do is use your presence, to relax the atmosphere and make sure that everything goes well.- she comments with confidence.
Friederich: And what do you plan to do with our presence?- questions with confusion, although I already understand it and I'm not entirely sure if I'm going to like the idea.
Charlotte: You are both here with the intention of finding a woman, therefore I can ensure that one of both of you ends up with my diamond and thus recover the full respect of the town.- she answers and I bite my lip.
Y/n: Aunt, you know that I respect you and that I never disagree with you.- I start a little unsure. -But I'm sure you know my father's opinion regarding marriage and that you only have to marry for love.- I remind her and see how she tries not to smile.
Charlotte: I know my dear Y/n.- she assures me with a certain tenderness in her eyes when she looks at me. -That is why I have decided that Friederich is the one who is interested in my diamond, maybe even something real will come out of this.- she says and I nod in gratitude.
It's not that I really want to marry for love, a few years ago I would be happy to find someone to fall in love with and marry.
But seven years ago my opinion changed and I have not wanted to fall in love and get married since then. When I was 13 years old, my brother had an accident riding a horse in a race and died. My mother went into anger and depression over the loss of her first child.
Two months after the loss of my brother, my mother could not continue and died of sadness. So only my father and I stayed.
I saw my father mourn the loss of my brother, trying to cheer up my mother in her depression and soon after also mourning the loss of my mother. I saw him suffer every day since my brother's death and for another year after my mother's death.
I saw how sad and broken he was when he lost the love of his life. The house was no longer the same, without my brother's laughter or absurd comments, everything felt silent. In addition to the fact that the warmth and happiness that my mother radiated had been replaced by the coldness of her lack.
That's why I stopped wanting to find someone to fall in love with and marry. Because I had seen what the loss of my mother did to my father and how it felt to lose two of the most important people in my life.
So at fourteen I decide to renege on marriage, preferring to remain single and not get close to another person in a sentimental way. But now there's my father's offer, and it's an offer I can't refuse.
I have always wanted to travel and see the world. But my father has never left me, saying that it was irresponsible to go on a trip and leave my chores behind. Although now that my father offers me 6 months of travel around the world, expenses paid and a house to be independent; I can't refuse the offer.
Especially when as soon as he could, my father sent me to university in Manchester and having finished my degree in natural sciences and its use in medicine, along with some medical courses; he wanted to enjoy traveling to find and study new plants as well.
But just because I accepted the offer doesn't mean I'm going to marry for love. But I will try to find a woman, who really does not want to get married; but do not want to stay single and be separated by society.
Friederich: If you think it's the best option, I agree to help her and meet the diamond of the season.- he accepts, causing her to let out a sigh.
Charlotte: Well, I hope you dress as well as possible, because in a few hours the guests will arrive and it's the first initiation dance.- she warns us seriously. -In this first dance I am the hostess and it will be your presentation.- she says and we both nod in agreement.
Friederich: I'll put on my best suit.- he nods puffing out his chest.
Charlotte: One last thing, Y/n Lady Danbury will take care of your introduction into society and will help you in the dances.- she tells me and I nod. -She has more experience and can better help you find a woman.- she explains with a loving smile.
Y/n: Thank you for thinking about my needs aunt.- I thank you with a smile.
Charlotte: I always will Y/n, besides that Lady Danbury is hosting another season at the Sharma and so it will be easier for Friederich and Edwina to get to know each other.- she explains to both of us.
Shortly after, we finish dinner and everyone heads to their rooms. I decide to wear black pants, with a morning suit of the same color with gold buttons and shiny black shoes.
I decide to wear a white shirt, with a navy morning suit and a white Byron tie. I look at myself in the mirror in my bedroom, making sure everything is in place and my hair is neat. ( He has the same hair as Theo , but with a little more curl.)
I grab the white gloves and leave the room after taking a deep breath. I descend the stairs, putting on my gloves and listening to the music from the ballroom in the background.
XY: Sir, Your Majesty requires your presence.- He warns me and I nod with a smile.
I follow the servant, entering the ballroom and immediately feeling the curious eyes of those present on me . I keep my gaze fixed, never taking it away from my aunt and the woman with the cane at her side.
Charlotte: Dear, how good that you have arrived.- she greets me with a smile. -You remember Lady Danbury right? - she asks pointing her head at the woman next to her.
Y/n: Of course I remember her aunt.- I nod with a smile. -It's a pleasure to see you again Lady Danbury.- I greeted taking her hand and leaving a polite kiss on the back of the hand. - You are as beautiful as six years ago.- I compliment her with education .
Lady Danbury was very close to my mother, so from time to time she always traveled to our house and paid us little visits. But after my mother died, her visits became shorter and less frequent.
Until after an argument with my father, because of how he was mourning and his way of focusing on work without showing me affection or support, it happened.
After that discussion, my father asked him to stop coming and that if he wanted to keep in touch with me he could only do so by letters; and so it has been for the past six years.
Danbury: As flattering as always prince Y/n.- smiles making me a bow. -It will be a pleasure to be your supervisor this season.- she assures me with a smile.
Y/n: The pleasure will be mine Lady Danbury.- I assure her politely. -It is said that her role in the Duke's marriage was crucial.- I comment and she smiles holding on to my arm.
Danbury: It was and now I'll get you a wife.- she tells me with certainty. -If you'll excuse us, Your Majesty, I have to expose this boy and introduce him to several possible debutantes.- she says goodbye to the queen and pulls my arm.
We start to walk around the room, while she talks to me about each newcomer we pass by and giving me her opinion about them.
From one moment to the next, she lets out a small exclamation of emotion and pulls our joined arms with a little more force.
Eloise's POV
I can't believe my mom dragged me into this for another year and even less after what happened last season. I very much doubt that any man wants to marry the woman who goes to the market alone and joins companies with radical political ideas.
After what Lady Whistledown wrote about me, or rather; what Penelope wrote, everyone looks at me badly and the scandal did not bring my family much good fortune.
But as much as I have refused, my mother has forced me to participate again for another year and this time telling me that I have to really try. She will even force me to have two complete dances, complete dances with someone other than my brothers or she will take away my books and all my liberties.
I haven't even managed to convince her, saying that she can't supervise Francesca, Colin and me at the same time; and that I would take work away from her by not showing up this season.
But nothing, she has not accepted and has put aside every reasoning I have given her for not making my debut.
And that brings us to this moment. To the first ball in the palace, where as soon as we have entered the door the eyes of almost all the guests are on us and the looks on me are not entirely positive.
Violet: Look there is Lady Danbury.- my mother comments with emotion, but I only look around and I meet the gaze of my old best friend.
I keep looking at her with all the resentment in the world, remembering all the damage she has done to my family and especially to me. I still can't believe that she is Lady Whistledown and was able to write that way about me: her best friend since childhood.
I pay attention to my mother again, when I feel how she pinches my arm and I complain, caressing the area.
Violet: And this is my other daughter Eloise Bridgerton .- introduces me and I look away from my now enemy, finding Lady Danbury with a boy by her side.
XY: A pleasure to meet you all, Lady Danbury often talks about you Lady Bridgerton and always in very high esteem.- He greets her by kissing the back of her hand, as with my sister and approaching to do the same with me.
Violet: I hope so.- she jokes with him.
I just watch as the unknown man gently takes my hand and brings it to his lips while staring into my eyes. After kissing my hand, he gives me a smile and politely lets go of my hand.
Danbury: From what I see, dear friend, this season we will both be very busy.- she comments to my mother and I looked at her with confusion . -You supervising your three children debuting and I supervising Edwina Sharma and Prince Y/n of Hannover here present.- she comments amused and I open my eyes, impressed in the most hidden way possible.
Violet: Oh, so you're going to debut too? - asks my impressed mother to the prince.
Y/n: That's the idea, my father thought that it's the right time to start looking for that special person so I can get married.- he answers with a perfect smile; iugh what a rage of a man.
Violet: It seems to me that your father is quite right, finding a special person to fall in love with and thus be able to get married takes time.- she comments and I can see a certain citric expression on his face, but it's barely perceptible and covers it very fine with a smile
Y/n: It's the same thing he says.- He nods agreeing.
Danbury: Why don't you invite Miss Eloise to a dance, dear.- she suggests and I want to deny it immediately, but I see the look my mother gives me.
Violet: I think it's a great idea.- she supports her friend with a huge smile.
Y/n: I suppose that if Miss Eloise accepts I won't have any problem dancing with her.- he assures looking at me with a small smile and extending his hand.
Violet: She doesn't have any problem, right daughter?- she asks me with a smile between her teeth.
Eloise: No, I would love to dance with you, my lord.- I assure him, bowing slightly and accepting his hand.
Y/n: Perfect, so if you'll excuse us, there's a dance floor and a dance waiting for us.- he tells those present with a kind smile and guides me towards the dance floor.
We were immediately on the dance floor, with one of his hands on my waist and the other connected to mine. While my free hand rests on his shoulder and a new song begins.
Eloise: I have to apologize in advance for stomping on you during the dance.- I repeat what my mother has dictated to me so many times before each dance.
Y/n: It's okay, not everything in this life tries to dance perfectly and in sync.- He downplays it by starting to move. -And tell me, is it your first season?- he asks while we dance and I count the steps.
Eloise: Don't talk or I'll get involved with the steps.- I order, looking down at my feet.
Y/n: It's easier to look at your dance partner than at your feet.- he assures me with a certain amused tone. -If you only look at your feet, you'll end up skipping a step and you won't be able to continue counting the steps.- he explains with evident experience.
Eloise: Perhaps the Prince of Hannover had problems with dancing.- I scoffed with a bit of venom.
Y/n: Well yes and I'm not ashamed of it.- he admits standing up. -The dances and some other points of the social events seem too banal and unnecessary for a day to day .- he explained and I looked at his eyes completely surprised.
Eloise: What? - I ask completely surprised, I would never imagine that someone from royalty, much less the queen's nephew, would think something like that about social events.
Y/n: The fact that i'm part of the royal family does not mean that i do not have my own ideas and that I agree with everything that is done in these events.- he comments without much interest. -Besides, the dances are supposed to meet and connect, which is absurd since there is nothing better than a conversation to get to know someone.- He defends his point of view and I couldn't agree more .
Eloise: Then why are you participating as a debutante and dancing with me right now? - I ask with a frown.
Y/n: I guess for the same reason as you.- he answer directly.
Eloise: And what do you know about my debut.- I say defensively.
Y/n: People like to talk, Miss Bridgerton, besides that your disgusted face and little interest in dancing are clear signs that you 're not making your debut for fun.- he explains and I purse my lips a bit annoyed for how fast he has read me; and for what he will have heard from me.
Eloise: What have you heard about me?- I ask him in a somewhat aggressive way.
Y/n: The dance is over.- he says separating from me . -It looks like we'll have to continue this conversation at another time, Miss Bridgerton .- he comments, leaving another kiss on the back of my hand and guiding me back to my mother. -I return your daughter Lady Bridgerton in one piece.- he tells my mother politely.
Violet: I thank you my lord.- she thanks him and the prince makes a small bow and walks away from us. -How was the dance with the prince? - she asks me excited.
Eloise: Incredible mother, dancing with the prince has been such a compliment, it has been a dream come true and now I can die in peace. - I exaggerate ironically and she looks at me challengingly.
Benedict: He seems like a nice guy.- he comments with our mother. -Besides, he's endured a whole dance with our sister and it doesn't look like he's complained about her stomping.- he comments amused, causing Colin to laugh and for me to hit him on the arm.
Eloise: I haven't stepped on it.- I deny immediately in my defense.
Colin: Yes, you have.- he assures me with confusion and amusement . -You've stepped on him like five times at least.- he points out and I open my eyes surprised at not having noticed.
Benedict: We were betting on how many more stomps the poor man would put up with.- he comments laughing with our brother.
Violet: Stop talking nonsense and laughing at your sister.- she tells them seriously. -Now Benedict, help your sister socialize and you Colin; you come with me.- she orders us.
Eloise: And Francesca? - I ask confused not seeing my little sister.
Violet: Your brother Anthony has offered to help her this season with me. - she tells me and I nod in understanding. -Now move all of you.- she says and after grabbing our brother's arm she disappears.
Benedict: Let's go around and discuss some of the ridiculous dresses and accessories of your competitors.- he mocks, offering me his arm and I delightedly grab it with mine.
Benedict is my favorite brother, because he always follows my jokes and he is the person with whom I feel most comfortable to talk about anything. I have always felt a greater connection with him than with any of my other siblings.
As we walk around the room, talking about some of the tacky dresses and hideous costumes of the other debutantes at the ball. I can't help replaying my conversation with the prince during the dance in my head, trying to figure out what he meant by his words and what he knows about me

the way i loved only you (pt. i)
Eloise Bridgerton x fem!reader
summary: you never thought you'd find someone again, let alone find that someone in a girl from a past you'd left behind || warnings: mentions of childbirth, death, abandonment || word count: 1379 || masterlist
REQUESTED BY @baylegend6
Your mother's screams cut through the air and through your bones. They wouldn't let you into the room, pushing everyone away despite the fact that you were nearly seven and ten. Lady Danbury rushed past you, a worried expression on her face.
"Lady Danbury, is Mama alright?"
She was solemn. "I don't know my child. She is strong and a fighter, I'm sure she will give birth to a brother for you."
Your mother did birth a son, but not for you. Your father couldn't have been happier and her screams faded into the excitement. You weaved through the corners of the room, unnoticed in favour of the new male heir. You creeped into your mother's room, trying to see if she was alright. Instead you saw maids carrying bloodied cloths and hiding tears. Mama was dead, killed by the child she loved unconditionally.
Choosing your future above your father's reputation and not wanting to meet your mother's fate, you packed the necessary clothes and pin money and took off into the night.
Three years later, a lot had changed. At seventeen, you'd met a boy who you'd thought loved you more than life itself. As young lovers do, the consequences of your actions didn't occur to you until they were hitting you in the face. You gave birth to a beautiful young girl alone named Abigail and afraid after your lover abandoned you in the middle of the night. You had held that babe with such tenderness, whispering sweet nothings and promising that you would never let her have the life that you did. You promised you would be there, that you would protect her and hold her close as long as you were able.
Now your baby had grown into the most mischievous toddler you'd ever met. She would try and trick you and her favourite person in the world whenever she could, Theo. Theo had been there since Abigail was born, helping you care for her when you were working. The two of you had met when you got a job working as a shop assistant at the same printing shop. There was no doubt that Abigail adored Theo, she would run to him whenever she could. And on one occasion, Theo wasn't alone.
"T'eo!" Your daughter cried, running towards the boy. As she toddled closer, Theo bent down to take her in his arms and her tenderly. He had always been the best with Abigail. You chase after her, taking Abigail from his arms and turning to the girl he was talking with. She seemed only slightly younger than you but was dressed like aristocracy. There was no dirt on the hem of her dress, no scuffs on her shoes.
"I'm terribly sorry about her." You say to the girl, lowering your gaze slightly to look her over. She was pretty, blessed with brown locks and the kindest eyes as she looked at your daughter.
"No problem." She replied.
"What brings you so far from Mayfair?"
"Mayfair?" The girl says slowly. "Am I that obvious?"
You smile at her. "I happen to be an expert in noticing those who don't fit it. However, you are particularly obvious Miss...?"
"Bridgerton. Eloise Bridgerton." A Bridgerton, in these streets of London. Perhaps pigs were about to fly.
"Well Miss Eloise, it is an honour to welcome you into our corner of the world. I'm Y/n, this is Abigail, my daughter."
"Your daughter?" Eloise seemed surprised. "You two are married?"
Theo, who had been watching this conversation burst out with laughter. "No!" He cried, then steadied his emotions. "I'm not Abigail's father, nor am I married to Y/N."
"We're friends. He's helped me greatly. As for Abigail's father, he uh- he isn't around."
Eloise stared. "You are not married?"
"No..."
"But you have a daughter?"
You roll your eyes slightly, tired of this conversation. "Yes, yes. I'm a sinner, having a child out of wedlock. My soul is damned, my virtue is ruined. Please, spare me the lecture."
"No!" Eloise tried to defend herself. "I just mean to say that I didn't know that unmarried women had children."
"Ah." You understand what she means, and she means no insult. "You'll find there are plenty things Mayfair doesn't teach you."
"You speak as though you know."
"Because I do." Abigail fidgets in your arms and you say your goodbyes to Theo and Eloise as you try and calm her before she starts screaming. "Sorry, I really must put her down for her nap otherwise I won't be able to work. I hope I see you again Miss Eloise."
As it happened, you did see her again. She would visit and ask for Theo in the beginning but then she would ask for you and Abigail. Eloise could easily spend an afternoon sitting at your desk and entertaining Abigail whilst you poured over the printer's accounts. More often than not, Eloise would bring ribbons and small toys far too expensive for you to afford, all so that Abigail could be happy.
You found yourself growing closer to the girl, craving her visits and unable to hide your smile when she did. Eloise shared your smiles and the secrets the two of you held for each other only grew. Until one day, Eloise simply vanished. She didn't come and visit, she left no note, no hint of where she had gone or why she didn't visit.
Theo managed to find a copy of Whistledown that slandered Eloise for daring to enter the poorer areas of London and talking with commoners. But Eloise had completely cut off you and Theo and Abigail with no warning and no apology. Perhaps you should be the one apologising to her; she was a young girl, perhaps you had pulled into a part of your world she wasn't meant to see.
You had made a decision to walk away from the upper class and aristocracy. You couldn't try and relive some of your childhood by burdening Eloise Bridgerton. For the sae of your future, and your daughters future, you had to forget that Eloise Bridgerton ever existed and ever entered your life. She would never be yours to have and hold and love. It was better to move on now, so that you didn't convince yourself that something might happen.
But something did happen. A letter arrived, hand delivered by a man not dissimilar to Eloise. He was dressed in a spotless suit, awkwardly looking around with a letter clutched in his hand.
"Can I help you sir?"
He suddenly turns to you and seems glad to see a person who doesn't want to steal from him. "Yes, I'm looking for Y/N Y/L/N?"
"You've found her."
The man straightened his jacket and offered you the letter. "My name is Benedict Bridgerton, I believe you knew my sister? She wished for you to have this."
"Eloise-" You were stunned for a second. "Eloise wrote me a letter?"
"She also wanted me to apologise for it taking so long."
You practically snatched the letter from his hands, tearing it open and reading the words she wrote for you.
Dearest Y/N,
Words can't express how sorry I am because I am eternally sorry. But I cannot come to the shop to see you and Abigail. I don't think I'll ever be able to see you again and that is my greatest disappointment. My eldest brother intends for me to spend my summer fixing my reputation and then likely intends to find me a husband next season or perhaps the season after that.
The truth is, I want to see you and knowing that I can't only makes me want it more. I hope you write to me throughout the year because I will answer. If you chose not to write, I will not harass you any longer and I'll leave and Abigail alone. I hope Abigail knows how much I care. I'm sorry for abandoning you and her. I imagine that you're upset and angry and I don't blame you one bit.
I don't want you to blame yourself for this, it isn't your fault and it never will be. I just hope you can forgive me for all this. If you'll have me, I'll be yours, forever.
Eloise Bridgerton

When The World Is Free: Chapter 3 - C’est Un Gars
MASTERPOST PREV | NEXT
Pairing: Benedict Bridgerton x fem!reader, WW2 AU.
Warnings: none... just some instant attraction and flirting ;)
Word Count: 2.6k
Author's Note: Multi-chapter fic based on a request by the lovely @amillcitygirl! Please see the masterpost for a synopsis of this story. This is when reader and Benedict finally meet. Yep, that's the whole chapter. Thanks to @colettebronte for beta reading. Enjoy! <3
Paris, September 1939
Benedict doesn't turn up the next day. Or the day after that. Some snag with travel arrangements that Eloise doesn't explain, and you don't pry. You suspect she championed any excuse for him to delay his trip. But it does mean his arrival is not particularly front of your mind as the days slip by.
It's a week later - after an exhausting workday in uncomfortable shoes - when you get home and notice the door is unlocked. Assuming it's Eloise, you enter the apartment distractedly, reading a flyer you picked up on your journey home.
“El, did you see this?” you call out without looking up, dropping your bag as you unbuckle your T-strap heel, the relief to your foot palpable, flinging the first aside. “There is a new jazz night in Montmartre… I think we should go, seeing as your troublesome brother is never turning up…”
“He is actually…” a refined, resonant voice calls out from across the room with a wry tone. There, silhouetted by the bright window, is the outline of a tall man.
You stumble in shock, twisting your ankle quite heavily as you remove the last shoe, and he rushes forward to your aid, large hands grasping your waist, stopping you from falling down and righting your stance. His hold is gone as soon as you are stable.
Discombobulated and embarrassed, you find yourself staring up into the most handsome face you have ever seen in your twenty-two years on earth, tongue-tied and awkwardly holding your right shoe. Not the introduction you would want with anyone.
“Benedict?” you squeak, mouth rapidly running dry.
“The very same,” his acknowledging smile is crooked, and something gallops hard through your chest. “Y/n, I presume?”
All you can do is nod. You can see the family resemblance - chestnut hair, blue eyes, a proud jaw - but damn if this is not the most fetching male version of Eloise’s prettiness. Tall and broad-shouldered, he looks very dashing in a royal blue three-piece suit with a crisp white shirt and burgundy and gold striped tie.
“Are you alright?” his forehead creases in concern as he nods to your ankle.
“I… I think so?” you stutter. There is a slight throb there, but it's almost background to the riot in the rest of your body at the very sight of this man.
Oh god, Eloise is going to disown me…
Her warning from last week is ringing in your ears as you attempt a step but can't hide the wince at the bloom of pain as your weight transfers.
“Hmmm, I think that's a no,” he hums. “Come, take my arm, let's get you seated and this foot raised…..”
And so you find yourself clinging to the arm he offers, feeling the latent power under the layers of fabric as he provides a solid brace to lean on. Still a touch mortified, you drop onto the sofa as elegantly as you can, raising your ankle onto the coffee table and sighing with relief. You don't miss how his eyes linger briefly on your stockinged leg before he bustles over to your refrigerator and grabs a chilled bottle of Sauvignon Blanc.
“Here, this should help,” he explains as he walks back.
“Drink until it doesn’t hurt anymore?” you guess drolly.
His responding laugh is warm and crinkles his eyes so beguilingly. “Stop the swelling,” he explains as he slides to sit on the coffee table next to your leg and presses the bottle against your ankle.
You hiss gently behind your teeth, the coolness seeping through your stocking. Your eyes meet, and you swear his dilate a fraction, the hand not holding the bottle wrapping around the inside of your ankle to align your foot better, long elegant fingers cupping your arch. Just that simple touch is enough to make your pulse race. Something about this man feels electric. Like standing beside a humming pylon, an energy coursing through you.
“It’s nice to finally meet the artist,” you murmur, gesturing to the artwork you know so well now.
His eyes track to the painting, and his face lights up. “You like it?” his tone so hopeful.
“It's beautiful,” you confess, a tingle where you can feel the warmth of his fingers flexing around your foot, contrasting to the cold of the bottle.
“Thank you,” he demures, bowing his head and looking up at you through his lashes, a dot of colour high on his cheekbones.
“What the….”
You both twist to see Eloise standing in the doorway, mouth agape. Benedict’s hand flinches away from your foot, and you realise it must look more incriminating from her angle, unable to see the cold compress. All she sees is him sitting on the coffee table, grasping your leg as you talk softly to each other….
“El! Hi!” you call, attempting a breezy tone, “I tripped on my way in, and Benedict here was just helping me. I’m okay,” you add preemptively.
He jumps up from the coffee table and indeed indicates your injury. Eloise nods to acknowledge it, then narrows her eyes at him before walking over and giving him a quick embrace, kissing his cheek.
“Hello, brother. I was hoping you would never show up,” she greets sardonically.
“Hello, little sister, always such a warm welcome…” he drawls.
You can’t help but giggle at their exchange, and both seem pleased to have entertained you, twinkles in their similar eyes.
“Well, this rather scuppers tonight’s dancing plans…” Eloise motions at your ankle.
“You and Solene go without me. Why not take Benedict, too?!”
“I’ve had a full day of travel. I’d rather not…” he confesses when Eloise looks at him expectantly.
“Spoilsport,” she rolls her eyes. “Where are you staying?”
“I haven’t booked anywhere...” he confesses, looking a touch sheepish. as you clock a suitcase against the wall.
“Well then, your choices are to find a hotel now or sleep on our sofa,” she shrugs.
“If it means it will get you packed quicker, I’ll stay right here,” he answered pointedly, raising an eyebrow.
“Brother, have you ever been to Paris before?” You can tell Eloise is winding up for one of her persuasions with that opening gambit, so you chuckle and relax back into the sofa, crossing your arms, about to enjoy the show.
“Is this going to be a two-minute or a ten-minute Eloise soliloquy?” he misdirects dryly, catching your eye and winking, which makes your heart skip.
Undeterred by both of your reactions, Eloise launches into her argument. “I know for a fact you haven’t, so let me say this. You are an artist. This is the art capital of the world. It would literally be irresponsible for you not to stay a while. Enjoy the galleries. Soak up the atmosphere. Get inspired. Hell, y/n here works in a gallery and has quite the encyclopedic knowledge of all the artists on display in the city - a literal font of knowledge…” As she extols your virtues, his eyes cut to you, an admiration and curiosity in them that makes your lungs feel tight, “…I would personally judge you for not staying. At least a week? Maybe two…”
“Delay tactics, El,” he sighs, but even you can see him wavering.
“Paris may not always be here, at least not as it is now,” you append, unwilling to look at him as you say it, looking out across the rooftops wistfully. “The art truly is spectacular, and if war comes to its doorstep in the next few months, who knows what could happen? You may regret it for the rest of your life if you don’t experience at least some of it.” Your focus back in the room as you look upon his art again. “Someone who paints something that beautiful deserves to see the old European masters up close…” you end on a shrug.
His gaze feels heavy like a cloak as Eloise waves her hands towards you. “Yeah… THAT,” she adds with finality.
Benedict sighs and tips his head back, his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallows heavily.
“Fine. Three days,” he capitulates. “But, Eloise, you must be packed and ready to leave by then. I mean it. I don’t need Mother’s wrath about this…” his warning avuncular.
“Promise,” she smirks, before grinning and whooping in victory, doing a little jig as he shakes his head with exasperated affection.
“Prêt à partir?” Solene's face appears around the doorframe, her face made up for a night out.
“Not for me,” you pout as she opens the door fully. “ I twisted my ankle. But I’m pretty sure Eloise wants a bit more victory dance time,” you smile as Eloise nods furiously, still swaying.
They all offer to help you to your room, but you steadfastly refuse, confident you can hobble to bed when the time comes. Wishing them all well, you’re looking forward to some quiet alone time after an eventful day.
—
Half an hour later, you are reading a book and feasting on brie and crackers when there is a soft knock at the door.
“Come in?” your call is tentative, unsure who might be knocking this late.
You frown as a key jangles in the door, then a warm flush down your spine as Benedict appears in the doorway, suitcase in hand.
“Eloise gave me a spare key. The hotel is fully booked for tonight,” he grimaces apologetically.
“Sofa it is?”
“Appears so…”
“So there’s only one hotel in the whole of Paris, then?” you tease softly as he removes his hat and drops his case.
“Only one in close enough proximity to ensure Eloise doesn’t have time to pack and up and abscond to god know where before I can intervene, yes…” that crooked grin reappearing.
“I’d never let her do that!” you gasp in mock outrage. “At least not without taking me too….”
He laughs heartily and moves to the counter to grab two wine glasses and a bottle opener, asking silently with an eyebrow raise if you want to join in, which you enthusiastically agree to.
“What will you do? When we leave?” He asks over the glugging sound of the glasses being filled.
“My family has told me to move up my return sailing to as soon as possible…” you can’t hide the disappointment in your tone. “I know I should do it… I just…”
“…Don’t want to give up on something before you even know how much you need it?” He guesses as he hands you a glass.
You are momentarily floored by how accurately he has pinpointed your feelings.
“Yes,” your reply is quiet but emphatic, a jolt to your being as your fingers brush while taking the drink, “that’s exactly it!”
“I understand…” and there is a world of empathy in his tone, raising his glass in silent toast, which you mirror. “But time isn’t on your side…” he reminds after a sip, “a few weeks, months if we are lucky, and Paris may well be invaded.”
“England too…”
“Perhaps, indeed. So you should go. Be safe. Back home to America…”
“What if that’s the very last thing I want?” your whisper is more fervent than you intended.
“That sounds more like a reason you don’t want to go than a reason you want to stay,” he surmises, again frighteningly on target with his assessment of your feelings, almost as if he’s in tune with them somehow. “But yet… Eloise said you’re engaged?” he aims for nonchalant, but you could swear there is dejection too.
“Sort of…” a wave of guilt crashing into you as your thoughts slide to Stanley. Good, reliable, comfortable, safe Stanley.
“How does one become ‘sort of’ engaged?” he frowns bemused, using air quotes.
“Growing up down the street from someone your age whose father happens to be your own father's best friend and business partner?”
“Oh…” there’s a pause, “you’re not being pressured, are you?” his query filled with concern. It makes your ribs glow that he might even care.
“No… just… a life plotted out,” you echo the words Eloise threw at you on your first night here.
“And it’s not the life you want…?”
“I used to think so…,” you sigh, eyes cutting to the side as you feel a swell of a tear forming.
“You have the right to change your mind,” Benedict attests softly as you twirl your glass between your fingers. “You don’t owe anyone else your happiness.”
You want to climb into his lap, grab his jaw and kiss him senseless. The impulse so strong you can feel a tingle where his stubble would abrade your lips if you did so. Suddenly worried you'll act recklessly if you stay any longer, you rise to your feet, make your excuses and limp mildly to your room… laying in bed staring at the ceiling for a long time before sleep claims you.
–
It's the middle of the night when you awaken thirsty and decide to get a glass of water, your ankle much better from the laydown. Half-asleep, you wander out of your room, fumbling towards the kitchen area, when you almost trip for an entirely different reason. Well, perhaps the same reason you tripped in the first place.
There on the sofa, in a shaft of moonlight, is Benedict, fast asleep; his face is so peaceful in repose. But that is not where your eye lingers. He is topless, a blanket pooled around his waist, his chest rising and falling rhythmically. And you cannot look away. He is all smooth planes of skin peppered with occasional moles that your fingertips itch to trace patterns between. His shoulders are indeed broad without a suit, and it's obvious he is somewhat of an athlete; the play of muscle and ribcage as he breathes deep utterly entrancing. It's so completely different to how Stanley looks - hairy and stout - that you drift closer without realising it, drawn to the sight. It's the closest you’ve seen to a breathing Statue of David, a shape you didn't think real humans came in…. until now.
So much so you don't even realise when his eyes flutter open, just transfixed by how his breathing pattern appears to change the flex of his abdominals.
“Are you alright?” his voice is a rough whisper and you startle. His eyes seem to focus, and you notice they flit down your body before he seems to stop himself.
“Sorry,” you stumble in apology, feeling your face flushing violently as your eyes fly to his face, then look away, embarrassed to be caught ogling so obviously.
“Do you need anything?”
Yes, to run my tongue over that divot right there… your mind screams.
“No, no... I just came out to get some water and worried you might be cold uncovered,” you bluster. “I was going to cover you up, but you awoke before I could….”
You are mildly impressed you can come up with an excuse as your heart pounds in your ears. Benedict’s face morphs into an intriguing mix of knowing, lopsided smile and bashfulness, pointedly pulling up the covers until they are tucked under his chin.
“Better?” he rumbles, and you could swear it is with a teasing lilt.
“Much…” you nod before awkwardly turning away.
“Y/n…” he calls softly, and you look at him over your shoulder, a flutter in your belly as you catch him glancing at your bottom.
“What…?”
“I'm glad your ankle seems better,” he offers softly.
“It is, thanks to you…”
“De rien…” his response, low and deep, in a flawless French accent, makes goosebumps break out over your arms.
Damn you, Benedict Bridgerton.

The next ball was scheduled for tomorrow night and the Bridgerton house was a mess. Violet was running around, trying to get her kids ready while Benedict hid from his mother, Francesca worried about this being her first season and Eloise ignored her attempts to get her ready while sitting on the couch reading a book.
“Eloise are you excited about tomorrow?”
She opened her mouth to tell her mother that marriage was a prison and that she would rather die when one of the servants came through the door with a package on his hands.
“What is this?”- Violet took the package from his hands and put it on the table. It felt heavy but the package was nice and there was a note-. “There’s a note!”
‘Dear Eloise,
I don’t have to read minds to know you are not the jewelry kind of girl but I wish this entertains your mind.
Hope you enjoy,
Sebastian’
“What did he send you?!”- Hyacinth squeaked out as Eloise stood up and walked up to her mother. Her heart was racing as she got to the package and grabbed the note from her mother’s hand.
“The Prince send you a gift! You know what this mean?”- Violet was over the moon. Her first daughter married a duke and now it was possible that her second daughter married a Prince?- “He might court you this season!”
Eloise was too concerned in opening the package to listen to her mother. Once she did, she saw 3 different books. Two about medicine and one about agriculture.
“Books?”- Hyacinth looked confused and kind if disappointed-. “Why couldn’t he send you a crown or something like that?”
“This is so much better”-. Said Eloise quickly grabbing her new books. She was so excited about new and shiny books, especially books about medicine-. “I’m going to start reading them”.
“Maybe you will be a princess or a Queen!”
“Shut up Hyacinth!”
“Eloise, don’t speak to your sister like that!”
“I’m sorry”.

“How do I look Marcel?”
“Since when do you care about looking good for the balls my Prince?”
“I love when you’re funny, doesn’t happen very often”-. He looked at his servant, and if we’re being honest his best friend, with a smirk.
“It’s an actual question My Prince”-. Marcel rolled his eyes while helping his Prince by fixing his clothes-. “I have never seen you excited about a ball before. Is this because of a certain Lady Bridgerton?”
“Do you think she liked my gift?”- His smile said everything, it was definitely thanks to Eloise.
“I will take that as a yes”-. He felt happy that his Prince was finally interested on someone-. “She seems kind and a little opinionated”.
“I know, isn’t that wonderful?”- It was, definitely wonderful. She was smart and beautiful-. “She seems amazing”.
“You do look good, my Prince”.

The start of the ball was boring. Men looking for young women to marry and a lot of gossip. Not really the way Eloise wanted to spend her evening. Anthony was watching after Francesca while Violet stayed with Eloise.
“Lady Bridgerton”-. A man with brown eyes and hair came made his way to Violet and Eloise with a cocky smile-. “Philip Crane”.
“Very nice to meet you Lord Crane”-. Violet smiled at him and then looked at Eloise-. “This is my daughter Eloise”.
“Nice to meet you my Lady. Would you allow me this dance?”
“She will be delighted”-. Violet gave Eloise a stern look to then move to the side, allowing Philip to take her hand and move to the dance floor.
“You look beautiful this evening Ms Eloise”-. His charm flew over Eloise’s head as they moved through the dance floor. She wasn’t interested in him at all-. “I’ve been watching you for quite sometime, you’ve always been a beautiful woman”.
“I appreciate that Lord Philip but I’m not really interested in marriage if that’s what believe”-. Her bluntness made his expression harden and his eyes filled with condescension.
“That’s nonsense, every woman wants to marry”.
Eloise eyes almost fell out of her head in disbelief. How dare him try and tell her what she wants or should want?
“How could you believe a women’s only desire is to server a husband?”
“I don’t only think it’s a desire but a privilege”-. She let go of his hand and took a step back, her blood was boiling-. “The song is not over my Lady”.
“But this dance is”-. She walked away from him and back to her mother. Violet didn’t look angry but she was definitely worried-. “Don’t ever send me with a man like that again”.
“What happened?”- Her mouth opened to complain about Lord Philip when she was interrupted by another voice.
“Eloise!”- Sebastian and Marcel had made their way to them with the typical smile on his face and two glasses of punch on his hands.
“Sebastian!”- She couldn’t deny the relief and happiness on her voice when he got there. Violet also seem more at ease, specially thanks to how happy her daughter sounded.
“My Prince”.
“Lady Bridgerton”-. He offered both of them the glasses which they took-. “You really don’t have to address me like that, Sebastian will do”.
“My manners couldn’t allow that”.
“Wow, your mother has really good manners so… what happened to you?”- His teasing tone and wink to Eloise wasn’t missed by Violet.
“Would you rather me married and silent?”
“I definitely wouldn’t want that”-. He laughed to then offer his hand to her-. “Would I be allowed a dance?”
This time instead of answering for her, Violet looked at her daughter with a soft, encouraging smile. Eloise took his hand, chug the punch and gave the glass to her mother.
“Let’s go, don’t get angry if I step on your feet”.
“If that’s the price to pay, I can deal with that”.
This dance was nice, Sebastian took the lead and she just had to move with him. It was quiet for a couple seconds as Eloise saw Lord Crane watching over them like a vulture.
“Did you like the books?”
“I did, it was very thoughtful”-. She stopped looking around and focus her eyes on him-. “You didn’t have to”.
“But I wanted to…”- He looked in deep thought, trying to find the words to explain himself-. “I know your views for marriage but…”
“Well spit it out”-. Her laughed calmed him down a bit-. “You told me that politeness didn’t suit me, well beating around the bush doesn’t suit you”.
“What if I courted you?”- The words came out of his mouth quickly, like they were burning the inside if his mouth-. “I know you do not wish a marriage where you’re seen as less or to give birth to multiple heirs and I don’t want that either”.
“Oh”-. Her stomach felt like turning, like a bunch of bees were nesting on it. Her hand felt like burning as she grabbed his and the rest of her felt like tingling-. “I’m not really the definition of a Lady, specially not a Princess or a Queen”.
“I want an equal, someone that I couldn’t rule but someone that could rule WITH me. A strong partner that could tell me when I’m wrong and give me their input on how to be better”-. He looked at her, waiting for her rejection-. “I would encourage you to study and be more than happy with you being your own person outside of us”.
The last notes of the song ended and from the corner of his eye he saw more men waiting for their turn to ask her for a dance now that she seem so desirable to them but on a selfish act he decided to keep dancing with her as the next song started.
“I’m not asking you to marry me but to give me a chance”.
“I… I would need to think about it”.
“Of course, take all the time you need my lady”.
• • •
After the second song he had to let her go as she needed to dance with some other pretenders. While she did that Marcel and Sebastian walked around the ballroom, engaging in small talk with a few ladies.
“You don’t seem happy Your Highness”-. Marcel commented from behind him as they went outside to get some fresh air-. “You seem rather sad”.
“Why must you always be over my shoulder?”
“It’s my duty”.
“Your duty to my father or me?”- He turned around, looking at Marcel’s face. The servant looked surprised at the outburst, it wasn’t normal for his Prince to snap at him or anyone if we’re being honest. Unless…
“Has Lady Eloise rejected your advances?”
“She said she would think about it but…”- Marcel patted his shoulder on clear solidarity and that seem to do the trick-. “I’m sorry, it’s not your fault”.
“All is good Your Highness, I understand”.
Sebastian pressed his back against the wall, feeling uneasy. His ears were ringing, heart pounding, shoulders tense as he started to feel disconnected of his surroundings. He wasn’t use to social events like balls, they always made him feel nervous.
“Your Highness?”
“I’m good Marcel, just nervous”.
“I will go and ready the carriage”-. The servant knew his Prince better than anyone else, he couldn’t take it for much longer.
Once he was alone, Sebastian decided to sit on the ground and focus in the quiet. Silence was nice but it definitely wasn’t the cure for everything that was wrong with him. No, the only cure for that was the sweet relief of death.
“Sebastian?”- He raised his head to find some beautiful blue eyes. Eloise seem worried and nervous about him as she sat next to him-. “Are you feeling ill?”
“Just nervous. Why are you outside my Lady?”
“I’ve been looking for you”-. He wasn’t going to lie, that sentence made his heart skip a beat-. “I have been thinking about your proposal and I would like for you to court me”.
“You don’t have to say yes, if you don’t want it I would understand”-. That seem to calm her nerves.
“I know but I want you to, if that’s still your plan”.
“I would like that a lot too Eloise”.
