Today I woke up from a nap to see that a detailed takedown of Steve Blackman, the “Umbrella Academy” show-runner, was posted by Rolling Stone. Detailing multiple accusations of abuse towards writers, staffers, and actors, the article also dips into some of the company culture surrounding Netflix when several of the allegations took place.

I am glad that information like this is being brought to the forefront, because the fewer shitty men in charge of TV shows, the better.

But I had to laugh when I read this exchange:

Anyway even if it is true this is what Blackman’s people claimed his remarks referred to:

This doesn’t excuse it, but as shitty as Blackman allegedly is, it is a dick move to demand that your character get rewritten into something new at the last possible minute because you decided you’re something new.

Talk about Main Character Syndrome.

I hate that all she’s become is just trans. Trans personality, all efforts and emotions and work and projects trans-focused. There’s more to her and she’s shrunk her world and gone all in on something that’s going to disappoint her in the end.

Not going to lie - the juggling is pretty cool though.

went to a discussion led by elliot page earlier today and there were many good things said but at one point the other presenter asked him "what's a cool thing about yourself that has nothing to do with being trans?" and he said "uhh this is all I've got going for me" and then paused before adding "if anyone has three oranges, I can juggle"

I CANNOT get over how soft and gentle Joel is when he finds her she kills David. He instinctively grabs her and is completely horrified when she starts screaming in terror. This isn't anything like how Ellie would've reacted before - she would've been mad, furious, hissing like a feral cat if someone grabbed her like that, but when Joel unthinkingly grabs her from behind she's lashes out, completely traumatized and pushed to her breaking point and Joel can tell. He's immediately rushing to reassure her, practically begging - it's me. It's me. Look. I don't think we've ever heard him speak so gently, not even to Sarah. And we know that Joel is just adding this on to the list of ways he's failed her. This brazen, tough, insolent kid is clinging to him, sobbing, blood on her face, completely shattered, and the only thing keeping her together is his embrace. He doesn't even know what's happened to her, but you can bet he heard her screams, and he knows that whatever happened completely transformed and scarred her, his daughter, his baby girl. And all he can do is wrap her in his coat and take her as far away as possible.

Or was it Ellie the kid who slowly sneaked her way into his heart dying all the worst ways imaginable ?

Or was it both of them ? Both of them being rapidly taken away from him by death while the only he could do was stand there ?
