I am kind of hoping that at some point, we go on another grand adventure to the other shards. And its the full package, we get a new group of people to adventure with who come with us through the rift, going from shard to shard, bonding with them and seeing how all walks of life from the remaining shards shape them in our journey. Have a full like ARR - EW arc and when we finally return back to the Source, the Scions have all grown older.

The Twins have grown up, Thancred, Urianger, Y’shtola, Krile, Tataru, and Estinien are all a bit more grizzled. Edmont has passed away but his estate is kept up by the ever reliable Artoirel. Emmanellain has matured more and built a Haurchefant Memorial statue in Dragonhead. We see what the Sultana, Raubahn, Elder Seedseer, Admiral, Hien, Vritra and what the First have done in our absence. See how their policies and treaties with the Beast Tribes have flourished or begin to bear fruit at least. See the world having shifting while we were away. See how far the Loporrits have advanced and adapted their technologies to aid Hydaelyn’s children. Is the Watcher still around or have they joined their brethren in the aether?

See how an older Hildibrand and Nashu are getting up to mischief. Perhaps Ellie Ryse has finally be released from her sentence and we can check in on how she and Inspector Briardien are getting along. See how Garlemald has begun rebuilding or actually transitioned over to living among Eorzeans? See how the Council enacts policies now that their prime directive is no long in their way. How has Idyllshire grown in the wake of the Goblins taking it over and the Alexander issues?

Is the Crystal Tower still sealed tight or have adventurers tried to break in only to be admonished by G’raha? Where have the Adventurers of Doma gone and done? Is Doma Castle rebuilt? Will we run into an even more aged and grizzled Gosetsu, who Hien believes will out live him at this rate? Will the Mol retain their Khan status after years past and another Nadaam has occurred? Is the Dotharl still limping along? How is Tiamat? How is Hraesvelgr? What have the remains of Nidhogg’s brood decided to do?

What about the Ala Mhigans? Has Baelsar’s Wall been torn down or is now manned by the Eorzean Alliance? Have their crops recovered, their temples reignited the way of the Monk? How has Lyse done now that the Revolution is now done in the Ghimlyte Dark? How has Ala Mhigo flourishes after years of tyranny and neglect?

So many possibilities.

DJ/Producer Marley Waters Gives Back to the Music Industry with a New Emerging Artist Project

With DJ and music software available on every device these days, it’s sometimes hard to dig through the noise to the artists who have really put in the time to learn their craft. Realistically, anyone with enough money can buy a session with a well-known songwriter and produce a video for their YouTube channel--and sadly it’s the artists who come from almost nothing who often go unnoticed, though they hustle and work overtime compared to most.

You’ve got to respect an artist who has learned his craft by working in multiple facets of the industry, especially when the artist is finding a way to give back to the music industry--even before he himself has actually made it big.

Enter DJ Marley Waters, who grew up performing as a Christian rapper and performing in churches up and down the east coast, dancing in dance troupes on MTV and America’s Got Talent, and then attending college in Atlanta, where he started rapping and making beats from his dorm room. Working as a DJ to pay the bills and spending nights sleeping on the floor of a vocal booth served as the boot camp for a producer who now boasts a resume with credits such as Tinashe, Justine Skye, Christina Milian, Wyclef, and more.

With his most recent single, “After Party” (a collaboration with Christina Milian and new group 4AM) having premiered last month, Marley is just getting started as an “artist.” One of his biggest projects to date is a project alongside RYSE, a new and groundbreaking platform that combines raw, untethered talent with polished artists, “the next evolution in the online contest.” The company aims to revolutionize the way artists work together through a RYSE Discovery: a project that pairs major artists with the best emerging talent. Each RYSE Discovery concludes with a grand finale where new music is exposed for the world to hear.  A percentage of profits benefit the House Of Blues Music Forward Foundation, “a nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating real-life skills for youth using music as the bridge to success.”

On the heels of Marley’s recently released production for Wyclef Jean and Young Thug’s hit single, “I Swear,” Marley is partnering with RYSE to bridge the gap between the emerging artist and those wanting to discover new talent. He will choose a collaborator to fly to Los Angeles and work on the official “I Swear” remix. Marley’s collaboration will be just one of the discovery projects that RYSE will offer this year, with several artists already lined up for 2017.

Though unlimited access may mean that we have to sift through more artists to find the music that speaks to us, it also means that artists like Marley--and those who have yet to be discovered via the RYSE project (or any other discovery outlet)--have the opportunity for their music to see the light of day.

For Marley, his hustle has brought him here--a place that allows him to share both his talent and collaborate with a new one. Read more in our Q&A below.

OTW: How did you get started with your music career?

Marley: I was always an entertainer and first started rapping over ‘90s hip hop instrumentals. From rocking the mic over instrumentals, to learning how to make my own beats--it all led to now.

OTW: What is one of the most important things you’ve learned along the way in creating your music?

Marley: To express my life, experiences, and emotion through music. Sometimes it takes some living to make a hit.

OTW: How did you get involved with the RYSE discovery? What drew you to become a part of it?

Marley: My publicist Myrlaun connected me with RYSE after an idea I had about starting a remix competition for me and Wyclef’s single, “I Swear." From the idea, she linked me with RYSE’s CEO Nathan, and we jumped in a partnership!

OTW: How would you describe RYSE?

Marley: RYSE is a new tech company that helps people elevate.  It has a lot of moving parts and the people at RYSE have put together something dope.

OTW: How would you feel if you were starting out and there was a discovery competition like the RYSE?

Marley: I would join this competition right away!  I mean an opportunity to work with Marley Waters and Wyclef, come on!

OTW: What are you most excited about in seeing who wins the RYSE discovery?

Marley: Excited to see who’s got the sauce!  I’m looking for some heat!

OTW: We see that the RYSE discovery is “brought to you by Roland;” what is it like to them as a partner?

Marley: Roland is dope. The 808 drums sounds are my thing. To have Roland in on this RYSE project takes everything to the next level.

OTW: Your newest single, “After Party” with Christina Milian and 4 A.M. just premiered last month--what was that collaboration like? 

Marley: Collaboration was amazing. Was my second song I did with Christina. Other one was called "Do It" featuring Lil Wayne. We had great synergy and was great to premiere my artist 4 A.M. Kid is talented!

OTW: Where do you pull your inspiration from for your lyrics or songwriting?

Marley: From my actual life and what my closest people go through. Also, something as simple as a conversation.

OTW: You’ve worked with a number of big names, Wyclef, Future, Ellie Goulding--what has been your favorite collaboration so far?

Marley: Wyclef.  He is a legend in my eyes. I always dreamed of working with him. Ended up performing a sold out crowd with him as well. Working with your idol is an amazing experience, and that is what I like about RYSE. It helps people live out their dreams.

OTW: What kind of traits do you think the next hot producer/musician will need to have in order to succeed in the music industry?

Marley: The next hot producer has to know their history. It’s important to be inspired and study the game.

OTW: You’ve worked hard in the business for a while now--why is it important for you to give back to the music industry?

Marley: The only way I can proceed is if I give back. That’s how life works. If I can help, why not provide opportunity!
