En mil pedazos: Hardin y Tessa, amor sin mascarilla «Todas esas colisiones sentimentales y terremotos hormonales tal vez sirvan de pasto entre el público joven, siempre mejor dispuesto a dar por buenas líneas de diálogo purgantes y situaciones sofocantes»

Siguen exactamente donde lo dejaron Hardin y Tessa, esa parejita de adolescentes que se agarran al primer amor como un catarro en noviembre a la garganta. Para esta segunda «temporada» de la serie de novelas de Anna Todd, que son algo así como «La Comedia Humana» en versión niñata del te miro y me derrito, se ha cambiado el director y en vez de Jenny Gage la firma Roger Kumble. Monta tanto, porque lo demás no se mueve ni un centímetro: la misma pareja de actores, Hero Fiennes-Tiffin y Josephine Langford, y los mismos conflictos, por llamarlos de algún modo, pues consisten en un me voy y vuelvo constante y en un te veo, te como y me indigesto insistente.

Todas esas colisiones sentimentales y terremotos hormonales tal vez sirvan de pasto entre el público joven, siempre mejor dispuesto a dar por buenas líneas de diálogo purgantes y situaciones sofocantes, pero, con solo una dioptría adulta en la mirada, la historia de amor cansino entre Hardin y Tessa es un puerto de primera del Tour. De hecho, a uno le da la impresión de que su entorno, padres, amigos, jefes…, deberían hacerlos ver que son unos pelmazos. Imposible: son igual de pelmazos. Ahora, se intenta ponerle tensión mediante un nuevo personaje, Trevor (Dylan Sprouse), un chico bueno y listo que le pone ojitos a Tessa, pero se queda corto de sisa.

En su favor puede decirse que los jóvenes protagonistas se lucen y son reguapos, y dan la impresión de creerse mucho las emociones y chisporroteos de sus personajes que, de tan superficiales, adquieren una profundidad cuántica digna de Christopher Nolan.

After. En mil pedazos: Amores y desamores La segunda adaptación de la serie de bestsellers de Anna Todd del mismo título lleva a preguntarse cómo se ha producido el fenómeno de la conexión de la novelista con una audiencia juvenil más que numerosa y además transfronteriza que quiere ver idealizada en pantalla gigante a los protagonistas de su literatura rosa. Sin duda, Todd conoce sobradamente los gustos de la edad enamoradiza y dispone de una producción que, pese a ser modesta, se sitúa por encima de la de los telefilmes del género para hacer que el público suspire por novias y novios guapos y ricos y por padrastros y madrastras ricos y guapos. Lo malo es que los actores resultan anodinos y los conflictos que afrontan son más superables que los de cualquier melodrama rutinario. LOS ACTORES RESULTAN ANODINOS Y LOS CONFLICTOS QUE AFRONTAN SON MÁS SUPERABLES QUE LOS DE CUALQUIER MELODRAMA RUTINARIO

La bebida, en un grado que no llega a adicción y a la que se alude con frecuencia, parece provocar las peores colisiones (a las que se refiere el subtítulo original) de la pareja. Pero los arrebatos del héroe y los coqueteos de la heroína (que se añaden con absurda pretensión y fallida profundidad dramática) carecen de credibilidad y, por consiguiente, de interés. La base del éxito consiste en la simpatía que generen estos personajes más o menos traumatizados psicológicamente por experiencias propias o contempladas a medias por el espectador y que, de nuevo, dan la sensación de telefilme.

Los Nuevos Mutantes (libro), de Anna Todd Sinopsis del libro After, en mil pedazos Tess sabe que no puede vivir sin Hardin, pero después de enterarse de lo que él le ha hecho no puede seguir estando a su lado.

Hardin por otra parte esta complétamente arrepentido.

Ambos siente mucho más de lo que se dicen, ¿pero realmente conseguirá Tess perdonar a Hardin?

Un libro con momentos emotivos, de discusiones, de revelaciones pero sobre todo de pasiones.

Acabo de terminar este libro y me estoy muriendo de la intriga que tengo ahora mismo. Estoy deseando que sea ya el 22 de Enero para comprarme el tercer libro. Me voy a morir, lo sé.

A ver, para empezar el “resumen de Los Nuevos Mutantes o After, en mil pedazos”, este libro está narrado tanto por Hardin como con Tessa.

El primer libro está narrado solo por ella pero este no.

La portada me sigue pareciendo maravillosa, y la edición interna es igual que la anterior.

Los personajes siguen siendo los mismos, entran algunos secundarios pero los principales siguen siendo Hardin y Tessa.

Nunca lo habría imaginado, ni en mis peores pesadillas habría pensado que podría sentir un dolor semejante. El dolor de la pérdida, lo llaman. Jamás había tenido nada ni nadie de verdad, jamás había sentido la necesidad de tener a alguien, de hacer a alguien completamente mío, de aferrarme a alguien con tanta intensidad. El pánico, el puto pánico que me da perderla no entraba en mis planes. Nada de esto entraba en mis planes. Iba a ser coser y cantar: me la tiraba, me ganaba una pasta y el derecho a restregárselo a Zed. Punto pelota.

En este libro vemos como Hardin ha evolucionado. En el primer libro pensaba más en él, era más egoísta. Pero en este libro nos damos cuenta de todo lo que quiere a Tess. Que algunos capítulos estén narrados por él nos hace meternos mucho más en el papel y saber lo muchísimo que adora a Tessa. No puede vivir sin ella y cuando él narra algunos capítulos lo vemos de una manera diferente, porque sabemos lo que él siente, no solo lo que Tess piensa que él siente. Y sus sentimientos son mucho más profundos de lo que yo me imaginaba.

Pero no puedo. No es como en las películas. Es la vida real, mi vida, y a mi vida le falta algo sin él. Mi vida es insoportable sin él. Este chico tatuado, maleducado y enfadado con el mundo se me ha metido en la piel, en el corazón , y sé que, por mucho que lo intente, no conseguiré librarme de él.

Tessa por otra parte sigue siendo como antes, solo que mucho más fuerte, en repetidas ocasiones intenta no sucumbir a los encantos de Hardin, pero ya todos los que hemos leído la primera parte (Y a quién no lo haya hecho que lo haga ya POR FAVOR) y sabemos que Tessa es un poco blandita para eso, ya que Hardin le toca su corazón de una manera especial.

Sabiendo como termina el primer libro, yo me moría de ganas por leer el segundo y no me ha decepcionado para nada. ES PERFECTAMENTE PERFECTO. Estoy enamorada de todos los momentos de este libro.

El primer libro terminó cuando Tess se enterá de lo que Hardin le ha hecho, bajo mi punto de vista, él lo que quería era guardar su perfil de chulito, pero realmente está loco por ella, y su corazón solo late cuando ella se encuentra cerca. La adora con cada poro de su piel, y añora todas sus caricias. El momento en el que se fueron a vivir juntos a mí me enamoró, pero ahora que ambos están peleados, ¿qué va a hacer Tess? Ella no tiene dónde ir.

Judges' Remarks: The Leland Street Players (the 90-Second Newbery’s in-house troupe) are at it again! After last year’s fun (and, I do admit, long) adaptation of Ruth Gannett’s 1949 Honor Book My Father’s Dragon, this year they return with an ambitious (and similarly long) adaptation of Kate DiCamillo’s 2004 Newbery Medal winner The Tale of Despereaux . . . in the style of the (yep, long) musical Les Miserables! This makes sense, when you think about it: both stories are set hundreds of years ago, and both are about the clash between the high and the low, vengeance and forgiveness, the rich and the poor. Here the Leland Street Players change the words to “Castle on a Cloud,” “Look Down,” “Lovely Ladies,” and “Do You Hear the People Sing?” to tell the story of the Kingdom of Dor, where the grieving King has outlawed soup because the rat Roscuro had fallen into the Queen’s bowl, startling her to death. When young mouse Despereaux falls in love with the Princess, and misguided servant girl Miggory Sow wants to become the Princess, and Roscuro is scheming to make everyone miserable, what will happen next? Great singing from everyone, and great performances throughout: Despereaux is pure-hearted yet increasingly brave and swashbuckling, Roscuro is brilliantly sneering and perfidious, we can feel Miggory Sow’s yearning, the King is hilariously blustery, the Princess is convincingly royal and totally inspires everyone with her singing at the end, the Queen is unbearably cute, and Furlough and all the rats and mice make for a rock-solid ensemble! I’m proud of how everyone pulled together and turned in really great performances. I get choked up at the final song, I admit!

"Ah, son of a bitch!"

Ella pulled back her now burnt hand from the stove, shaking it vigorously in hopes of soothing the sudden pain radiating in her joints. She'd only gotten distracted for a moment whilst pulling the bread out, but apparently that was long enough for her hand to scrap the side of the fire-hot metal box. She looked despondently down at the bread now smushed on the floor before moving to run her hand under some cold water. Pain be damned, she still had work to do to close out the day.

Later that evening, after the Inn sign flipped to close and all the tenants were tucked in their bed, you made your way over to Ella's private rooms, familiar by now with the routine. You knocked a couple times, to be polite, then slowly entered and took off your shoes, sighing pleasantly at the familiar smells that greeted you. You called out for her, heading in the direction of the bedroom where her responding call sounded from. You made to greet her with a smile before noticing her hunched over her dresser, her one hand clutching the other as she winced.

"Ella? What's wrong?" you asked, quickly moving towards her. She looked at you with a mixture of pain and annoyance (not directed at you of course) and held out her hand for you to see.

"Caught myself on the damn stove today. Was fine for a bit but hurts like the dickens now."

You gingerly took her hand in yours and carefully inspected it, frowing at the redness across the top of it and the small open blister below her middle knuckle.

"That's why it hurts El, you've gone and bust a blister. You sit, I'll get the honey and the wraps."

"I'm fine, really, I'll run it under s'more water-"

"Ella, it could get infected, and you know how dangerous that is. Let me bandage you up. Please?"

Ella merely nodded, pushing her stubborness to the side in favour of your pleading eyes and gentle touch. She'd always had a hard time saying no to you, even when you'd first met, and especially when it came to you caring for her. It had been such a long time since she'd been properly cared for...

"Alrigh' here we are, gimme your hand."

You picked up her hand once more and scooped out some of the honey with your fore and middle finger before tenderly swiping it across the injury. You softly talked her through the pain, soothing every sharp intake of breath and hiss as the honey sunk in and did it's job of disinfecting her. Once you applied a satisfying amount you quickly washed your hands and wrapped a bandage around her, careful not to make it too tight lest it hurt her circulation. You carefully pinned the wrap down before bringing her hand up to your lips and giving it a gentle kiss, a pleased hum sounding from Ella as you did so.

"Feel better?"

"With you possum? Always."

You smiled and leaned in to kiss her softly, then moved to get in to bed. You turned down the covers and made sure Ella was comfy with her hand propped up on a pillow before crawling in behind her and spooning around her. Ella shifted a little, wincing as her hand flexed slightly, and she sighed as you brought yours up to rub gently at her wrist.

"I must look an old fool to you sometimes."

You made a small noise before tenderly kissing the back of her neck and shoulders, continuing to rub soothing circles into her skin with your thumb.

"I think you look mighty fine to me, Ella."

Ella Gannett x Fem!Reader, short and sweet, pure fluff ☺

The sun was setting low over the Texan horizon, another long and hot day coming to an end. Ella had just flipped the closed sign at the front of the Inn, signalling to passerbyers that the kitchen had shut down for the night, no more stew or bread to be had. She was wiping down the last of the tables and gathering up the emptied bowls when the small tinkling of the bell hung above the door sounded, signaling someone's arrival.

"Can't you read the damn sign, it says we're-"

She stopped mid-turn and smiled, delighted to see you framed in the doorway.

"Possum! I wasn't expectin' you for a few more days. Ain't you supposed to be workin' late?"

"I was, but I managed to sneak out a little earlier tonight... thought I'd come see you. I missed you this week."

Ella smiled and placed the dishes back down on the table, then slowly made her way over to you, quickly glancing out the front windows before pulling you into an embrace.

"I missed you too sweetheart."

Refraining from pulling you in for a kiss, lest anyone unwelcome see, she simply stepped back and gathered up the bowls again, a swell of warmth building in her chest when you wordlessly followed her lead and helped her finish up. Once the dining area was clean and prepped for the following day, Ella took your hand and led you back to her private quarters, finally laying a tender kiss on your lips behind the closed door. You melted into it, relishing in these stolen moments that seemed far too few lately.

"Think you might be able to spend the night?" Ella asked, brushing a loose strand of hair behind your ear before leaning in to kiss your cheek. You nodded your head, earning you a smile from the older woman. She bit her lip and her gaze fell to the floor, and you chuckled as you brought your hand to her chin and tilted her head up.

"What is it my love? You rarely get shy, 'less you're nervous about somethin'."

Ella simply pulled back and reached into the pocket of her apron, pulling out a small wooden box you hadn't taken notice of previously. She handed it to you, blush staining her cheeks while you lifted the lid and gasped aloud.

"Ella... this is... it's stunnin'!"

In amongst the velvet laid a small golden locket, shaped as a heart with delicate engravings on the outer edges. You carefully pulled it out and opened it, tears threatening to spill over at the worn but beautiful picture of Ella inside.

"A ring would be too obvious, figured this was still a good way of... well, of sayin' I love you."

You looked up at her and pulled her in for another kiss, feeling as though your heart might explode at such a thoughtful gift. When you finally parted she turned you around, taking the locket from your hand and clasping it around your neck, careful not to get it stuck in your hair. You couldn't help the wide smile that overtook your face, nor the urge to kiss the woman in front of you silly until you were both breathless and laughter filled the dim room.

"I love you too, Ella Gannett."

Ella Gannett x Reader

You and Ella had been together for a couple of years now (secretly of course), you staying with her under the guise of helping her run the Inn since Mr. Gannett had left

Neither of you could remember a time you'd been so head over heels for someone, and Ella even found herself thanking God sometimes that her husband had run off to California as it now left her completely free to love you (as free as one could be in Texas anyways)

With President Grant having recently announced Christmas as a federal holiday, you were eager to set up the small tree and some modest decorations in yours and Ella's shared quarters, which were located in the far corner of the Inn.

You had gathered some fresh evergreen branches, pinecones, holly berries, bits of colored ribbon and yarn, and the homemade yarn dolls your mother used to decorate your tree with as a child and set to work, hoping to surprise Ella when she was finished with her day

She came home later than usual, a ragtag band of cowboys having rolled in late from the Saloon needing some rooms. She huffed as she plopped down on the chair beside the door, slowly taking her boots off and stretching her legs out. It was then she noticed the small strand of holly intertwined with evergreens on the window sill, and she smiled when she rounded the corner to find you sat on the couch in front of the fireplace and tree with two steaming mugs of apple cider on the table in front of you

She immediately curled into you and placed a quick kiss on your lips before complimenting the decorations and taking a few sips of the cider, the warmth of it and you soothing her worn bones

You idly chatted about your days, she venting about some young hooligans that had come in for lunch and immediately disturbed the peace so badly she had to throw them out, and you giggling over nearly falling off the chair while hanging some knit angels from the rafters (to which Ella gently scolded you about being more careful)

She had gone to refill your cider, and was on her way back when she looked out the window and froze

Ever so cautious of bandits and rogue cowboys, you were up in an instant and headed towards the gun safe when Ella spoke

"It... I think it's snowin' out..."

You paused, not quite understanding what was happening. You had moved to Dallas from Nebraska, where white Christmases were a regular occurrence, and therfore was stumped by Ella's reaction. Sure enough when you moved beside her and looked out the window, large fluffy flakes were slowly gathering on the sill. You looked at Ella with a curious expression, and she kept her eyes locked on the glass as she spoke softly

"I ain't never seen real snow before. Not in all my years have we had it down here in Dallas."

And then it clicked, you finally understanding why she was so mesmerized. You smiled widely and gently took the mugs from her, placing them down before taking her hand and leading her out the back door onto the porch. You watched as she hesitantly held out her hand, catching some of the flakes in her palm before stepping out from under the awning completely, letting the light snow gather on her hair and shoulders as she laughed gleefully, doing little twirls and holding her tongue out to the sky

You somehow fall even more in love with her in that moment, watching childlike wonder take over her at something you realized you'd always taken for granted

A brief shiver ran through her, and when you realized she wasn't wearing shoes you quickly ushered her back inside, not wanting her to catch ill. You bundled yourselves back up in the blanket, Ella tucked neatly into your side with her head on your shoulder, giggling and kissing. You spent the remainder of the evening watching the light flurries and finishing off the cider, more than content in eachother's arms

Just the default setting, I haven't had a decent laptop in awhile so a lot of my writing is just done on my phone

6. What is your darkest fear about writing?

That I'll offend a certain group or type of person because I don't know enough about certain subjects

25. What is a weird, hyper-specific detail you know about one of your characters that is completely irrelevant to the story?

Okay I'm gonna use Ella Gannett here because she's basically my OC at this point, and my weirdly specific detail is that she carries around a pomander that her grandmother gave her mother, and her mother gave to her. Authentic german and still in great condition despite being passed down three generations. When she's feeling particularily nervous about something she runs her fingers over the delicate engravings to soothe her.

33. Do you practice any other art besides writing? Does that art ever tie into your writing, or is it entirely separate?

Not really no. I've been thinking about taking up the ukelele recently but we'll see
