OC Kiss Week Day 3: Stolen
WIP: Darkspace Portent Pairing: Warren x Thrive Timeline: we'll say before/after book four for shits and giggles (likely not canon unless I say it is in which case I never said this) CW: mature content Rating: M? (to be safe idk lol) Words: 955
***
"I don't know how to tell you this," Warren muttered five seconds after sitting beside Thrive at the table in the kitchen. He hesitated, the open space of the capital house beginning to crush him. "...The shirt is gone."
Thrive raised a finger to his own lips to buy time as he chewed a good-sized chunk of pan-seared steak from an alien mammal. His brows pinched, and he nodded as if either processing Warren's words or enjoying the food—it wasn't immediately clear which.
"...Shirt?" he responded at length, putting that conundrum to rest for good.
Warren folded his hands over the surface of the table. "The... shirt. The shirt. The shirt with the black ringed planet on it?" He looked at Thrive as if he'd suggested they go bowling with the skull of an eliyi. "You wore it for just about two weeks straight, E.T., what the fuck?"
"Ah, yes." Thrive sliced through another portion of the meal he was, as Warren only realized then, eating alone up until that point. "It's gone?"
Narrowing his eyes, Warren let out an all-too-patient exhale through his nose. "I looked everywhere. Picked apart your office, went through every conceivable room in the capital house, even Gouna's office and Corin's lab. I feel like you're not reacting appropriately, here."
"Perhaps I know where it is," Thrive said simply. He reached over for his glass of fruit nectar, the thick apricot-colored beverage shimmering as it was agitated, and imbued Warren with an unbothered look.
"Do you know where it is?"
"No," Thrive said with a soft snort of pomposity before he took a generous gulp of the nectar.
"So why aren't we more concerned about the shirt I so graciously gave you when you had every intention of walking around Earth completely buck-ass naked? The shirt that's become somewhat of your signature and I can no longer think about without thinking about how fucking sexy you look in it?"
Thrive's gaze lifted from the square of colored glass used as a plate, a gaze of dark triumph. He turned to Warren again, that triumph no longer present to such a degree that it could've been imagined. "...Where could it possibly have gone, Warren? The entirety of civilization on Tournaltis is within a mile in every direction of this exact location."
Warren opened his mouth to answer that, then closed it.
"It'll turn up," Thrive assured him, giving his knee a gentle squeeze before focusing on the meat. "Don't stress too much over it."
Warren had no choice but heed him, and he went through the rest of the day as he normally would... but every so often, he'd think about the shirt, attempting to mentally backtrack, to remember when and where he'd last seen it to no avail.
The night crept onto him without his knowledge, and he found himself standing with Plio and Roel in the dark outside Corin's lab as they'd been for the past few hours. He could've missed the nightfall altogether if he let enough distractions overtake him. He bid the other two a goodnight and trudged back to the capital house.
With a sigh, he entered his pitch-black room next to Thrive's office, closing the door behind him simultaneously with picking up on Thrive's unmistakable scent.
"You're like a little gremlin sometimes," Warren said, dropping onto his bed—silently thanking whatever deity existed that he actually did drop onto the bed rather than the floor. He kicked his boots off. "I swear I'll get used to the darkness one day."
"The shirt was stolen," Thrive said from somewhere near the window.
Warren let his body sag, then he leaned back on his hands. "...Who the fuck would steal a dirty t-shirt riddled with bloodstains and bullet holes? There wasn't even any glitter on the planet anymore."
As soon as the words left his mouth, the curtains hanging in front of the picture window parted, and the light of three moons filtered inside. Thrive stood directly in the beam, finger pressed against the wall panel until the curtain finished opening. The ringed planet T-shirt paired with the oft-forgotten jeans clung to every plane and curve of his powerful torso and thighs, accentuating his muscular arms and shoulders while honoring the outline of his abdomen.
"I would," he murmured. "From you."
Warren's head fell back and he laughed in embarrassment at his immediate and visceral physiological reaction to this. "FUCK!" he shouted.
Thrive moved to Warren and buried his long fingers into his hair. "You're not getting this back," he growled, fisting the milk-chocolate strands to angle his head more efficiently. "Ever."
"Pretty sure that was made abundantly clear the second I saw you wearing it for the first time," Warren breathed.
Thrive crushed their mouths together, his other hand coming up to wrap around the column of Warren's throat, putting tantalizing pressure on the sides. Warren groaned sharply, already running his palms over Thrive's heated skin under the shirt.
"I think not," Thrive purred against Warren's lips. He let go of his hair to displace his wandering hands, then pressed Warren back by his throat, laying him prone across the mattress. He crawled onto the bed, straddling his hips. "Let me show you just how sexy I can look in this shirt, th'saiya."
Warren, his pulse fluttering wildly under Thrive's fingers, hummed in eager approval at what he suspected was the beginning of an incredibly erotic night.
And he was right—toyed with and railed, all with those clothes covering just about every inch of Thrive's lean body except for the important parts. The more Thrive discovered how to use his human form for evil, the more Warren was content to let him fully corrupt him.

One-Star Review Tag
Rules: Introduce your WIP by writing a 1 star goodreads review of it!
I was tagged by @sleepyowlwrites for this weirdly exciting thing thank you friend. I’m sorry it took me roughly a century to do this; I’d forgotten you tagged me 😩
so I’m not familiar with goodreads aside from what I hear in passing but I suppose a review is a review is a review so I’ll do my best
Thriving
★☆☆☆☆
I’m sorry, I understand that it’s supposed to be a love story spanning over the course of a series, but by the end of this first installment the tension between the two main characters, Warren and Thrive, is so heavy I could use it to counterbalance a trebuchet. And the projectile of that trebuchet would probably be the cumulative representation of how many times Warren completely fudged up his own feelings for Thrive and blindly risked his life to keep him safe. And my target would be the reinforced emotional walls Thrive’s got up. Bullseye—I’d take it down immediately.
Also, I’m not entirely sure why Hastings had to be so problematic? I get he’s the antagonist and we’re supposed to hate him but I’m kind of uncomfortable with how much of a jerk he really is. I prefer to like my antagonists a little bit, too, and he’s just...racist and unlikeable. Thumbs down.
The eliyi as a concept are unique—I do appreciate a scary hostile group of aliens—but I feel like the story would’ve worked better if we’d seen them much sooner. Maybe within the first five chapters? Gotta raise those stakes out of orbit right away! There’s nothing more boring than having to wait for the real villains.
Would I read this again? Probably not. And quite frankly, in my opinion, it’d be better if a white guy wrote it.
tagging @jasperygrace, @chayscribbles, @timefirewrites, @zmlorenz, @starlitesymphony, and anyone else who wants to have a go!
#tag game#the joke here is that the eliyi are not at all the real villains lmao#also don't @ me over that last line#my husband came up with it and I thought it was perfect hahahahjslafhjdf#it literally contradicts the entire second paragraph I'm sorry I'm still laughing over it

Book Re-Release(s)!
It’s been a whole-ass year since I published my first book!
...APPARENTLY?
To celebrate this strange occurrence, I’ve improved both books one AND two of my ten-part sci-fi MLM series!
What To Expect in the Improved Books:
chapter header images (paperback only)
lower page count (due to smaller and better print)
custom title pages
resolved minor editing whoopsies that somehow slipped by me despite going over each word and sentence with several fine-tooth combs (hey it happens)
overall better and less annoying formatting
I will reiterate from a previous post:
— It is NOT NECESSARY OR EXPECTED for anyone who has already purchased the older versions to purchase the Anniversary Makeover versions. The content has not changed. The stories have not changed. This is completely, 100% optional. —
If you haven’t already purchased any of the books...congrats! you get a much prettier one to match the rest of the series going forward.
Where to buy????

Read what the books are about under the cut!
Thriving—
Warren Cougar has always been passionate about outer space and the beings that supposedly live far beyond the realm of his knowledge. He works for an organization that deals with the possibility of the otherworldly, after all.
And then an alien by the name of Orthrive’poliea crashes into the lake near Warren’s cabin. Everything he’s dreamed about has become real, and now faces the likelihood of becoming a lab experiment at the grotesque hands of ETHOS.
Driven by his virtues and an instant powerful, enigmatic affinity for Thrive, Warren puts his life at risk to separate himself from ETHOS—to keep Thrive from falling into their clutches. It’s the right thing to do.
But when the journey toward Thrive’s freedom is further endangered by a looming threat far out of either of their control, the fight for survival doubles, and the chances of success fall sharply away. Whatever the right thing happens to be, it begins to look like the one thing that would break Warren’s heart the most.
Thriving: Destiny—
A few years have passed since the events in Alaska. Warren Cougar finds himself traversing the galaxy for enough alien firepower to rid the Earth of the eliyi—with the assistance of Thrive, for whom his feelings have grown in the time they've been apart.
Between an ocean planet, a bloodthirsty frost dragon, a debilitating injury, and the catalysts of an intergalactic war, Warren attempts to navigate his own internal conflicts while also fighting to keep himself alive.
When the sentient darkness of the universe known as the Emmuli becomes a key player in the impending destruction of the Milky Way, however...that may be a task easier dreamed about than achieved.
M31 Arc (books 1–5)—
The dramatic collision of Orthrive’poliea’s vehicle with a nearby lake upends Warren Cougar’s life more than he ever expected. Along with conspiracies, intergalactic war, and tumultuous dealings with interspace politics, he has to survive a hostile alien army and a semi-omnipotent sentient darkness doing everything in their power to destroy Earth and the rest of the Milky Way—and Thrive’s native galaxy, Andromeda. Navigating their way through seemingly endless battle after seemingly endless battle, Warren and Thrive also find they must navigate themselves as well as their growing relationship with each other.

THRIVING
Thriving // @donovyn--nox
Genre // Romance, Sci-Fi, LGBTQ+ Class // New Adult Type // Series Warnings // Violence, Death / Murder, Sex, Drugs, Suicide, Religion Links // intro 1 + intro 2 + intro 3
Summary //
In the year 2045 an alien, Orthrive’poliea, crash-lands in the lake by former ETHOS agent Warren Cougar’s cabin, and the two of them embark on a journey to escape from Warren’s ex-employers, who want nothing more than to capture and kill Thrive for mysterious reasons, and the eliyi, who pretty much want the same thing.
Warren and Thrive grow closer as they lose each other and are reunited again just in time to start another, bigger quest to save Earth from the invading eliyi. The resulting actions spark an intergalactic war that then goes on for another two hundred and twenty-four years, fought mostly for two separate main causes; the liberation of the graha from the tyranny of the venevans, and the liberation of the Rotangans from the tyranny of the Morrites, both sub-wars puppeteered by one Morrite in particular, the Blue Prince Hyret.
A lurking presence comes into play—the Emmuli, sentient darkness that can bend minds and manipulate time. Interweaving their existence throughout the horrors of the intergalactic war and seeming to focus only on Warren and Thrive, the Emmuli steadily prove themselves to be a bigger problem than anybody anticipated, particularly as Thrive’s abilities strengthen, and they become more and more intent to either put him down for good or use him for their terrifying purposes.
Conspiracies, devastating secrets, god-like powers, unfettered love, ass-kicking action, and solving mysteries of the universe all flavored with unique, expressive, fun, and diverse characters over the course of 5+ novels!

well...we've got a couple of villains.
we've got the eliyi, which is a mutated alien race from Andromeda that followed protagonist Thrive to the Milky Way to finish what they started—massacring his people. The Archmaster is the leader of the eliyi planet Zliyagi, the one who wants him dead more than anybody, and, unfortunately for Thrive, the reason for the slaughter of the obhelian people, while horrific, was not without reason...and it's noooooot quite a bad reason.
another major villain, one would say the Major Baddie™ of at least the first five books of the Thriving series, is the Emmuli. referred to as a "sentient darkness," the Emmuli is one and many. nobody knows where they originated, or what they are except that they're partially omnipresent and can jump through time and space at will. they have the ability to manipulate the mind and create artificial constructs such as the belief that the last five years of someone's life never happened or trapping you within a cabin with no feasible way out indefinitely.
the Emmuli's origins are unknown but they form a dark rogue planet called Torris at the edge of Andromeda.
hey! i want to hear about your wip! specifically, i want to hear about your villian! come tell me about them!
either reblog this post, or make one and tag the blog!

"Useless" £200k p/w star being torn apart by many Arsenal fans - "Cost us yet another game"
Arsenal’s season looked incredibly promising on 1st April, with many fans and pundits backing the North Londoners for a top four finish. Since then, the Gunners have crumbled, leaving their hopes of finishing fourth all but over providing there are no end-of-season miracles.
Unai Emery’s men took to the field on Sunday afternoon knowing a win would put them in a very strong position for Champions League qualification via the league, as Chelsea and Tottenham face tricky games on the final day of the season.
It wasn’t to be as Granit Xhaka brought down Solly March in the penalty area, before Glenn Murray converted the spot kick to deny Arsenal the three points.
Social media erupted as the patience of Arsenal fans broke, leaving many star players in the firing line of criticism from their supporters.
One star in particular, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, received some rather misplaced criticism. The striker has contributed 20 goals and five assists in the Premier League this season, though has also been erratic in front of goal at times.
Arsenal have been crying out for a world-class striker for years, and in Alexander Lacazette and Aubameyang – who allegedly takes home £200k per week – they’re now blessed with two.
Though not all fans are happy with the Gabonese striker’s contribution…
Aubameyang cost us yet ANOTHER game against Brighton but I'm sure it'll be ignored by his legion of fanboys. Ugh. Can't wait until he's moved on and takes his blind fanboys with him. Well played, Brighton. You deserved at least a point if not a win with that resilient display.
— Sassy Ranma (@RanmaSassy) May 5, 2019
He's right. Hasn't got a shred over Bentner
— TomAFC (@TomAFC4) May 5, 2019
i love auba but he misses way too many chances
— Jason Trillo (@Trillo7359) May 5, 2019
Finally someone said it. The only quality goal Auba scored was the one against Spurs at the Emirates. He misses sitters and has a horrible first touch. He is not a quality striker. FINISH!!
— ✌ iGooner Eliyi Khosi ⚽ (@DlaminiEnkosi98) May 5, 2019
Everybody here trying to make a case for Aubameyang saying he scored 27goals. Dis man is unreliable and useless any player wud score goals in arsenal
— Adekeye_1 (@david11_captain) May 5, 2019
He is simply Gabonese Vardy…but even vardy is more clinical…& for those justifying 27 goals ..arsenal creates so many chances ..even Giroud was hitting above 15 goals every season & couldn’t get a shot on target in d world cup …we needs wingers who can feed Lacazette…

People only starting to realise?

Find the Word Game XXIV
tagged by: @space-writes last year lol 🙈 my words: inside, above, decay, bloom tagging: @drabbleitout, @drippingmoon, and open tag your words: find, leave, settle, march, begin, tough
inside (Eternal)—
[Warren] wanted to say something, anything, even though he knew this was a construct, a falsehood. He wanted to assure Hastings that he would not harm him. But he couldn't promise that. He watched Hastings, watched his chest rise and fall rapidly, too fast, and he couldn't tell him. He could not, and he pressed his tongue against the inside of his mouth to discover his jaw had been melded shut, a growth of bone where his teeth used to be, as if all of them fused together to become one. And then he took another look at Hastings. Another long look, really took in his presence in front of him. The snow fell, featherlight, fat flakes in the space keeping them apart. Warren's head angled, and a gathering of white-hot rage began to bubble up from within his core, at the pit of his stomach. All of his despair, all of his agony, everything that had ever been attributed to his former superior, coiling up into a tight ball of torrid hatred that rose to the center of his chest. He lifted the gun and fired. The bullet went through Hasting's skull, sending a spray of crimson blood and bone across the forest, onto trees, into the air.
above (Meridian)—
The clouds of the supernova grew closer. Venevans began to sob and clutch at each other. Evac volunteers fell to their knees, some praying, some cataplectic. Thoeala and Corin grabbed each others' hands tightly. Warren watched Thrive, ears popping. He'd quadrupled the shield, quintupled it, reached the horizon, used every ounce of his strength to push it farther out, to encompass the planet's orbit and protect the ships hovering above. The air filled with crackling energy, and sparks emanated from the tendrils of light that formed his hands and fingers. Veneve's moon caught the brunt of the blast. It crumbled like a clod of dirt, dissolved into the sky. The dust cloud from the supernova hit Thrive's shield with a thundering boom, sending quakes through the ground, through the air. He doubled down, the mass of colors spreading like a jet stream over the shield, and Warren's breath caught in his chest.
decay ruin (Aurora)—
Lilori escorted Warren to Edwa Falls, crowded into a shuttle with Genni and Guetry, whom he'd named his best man. Guetry fussed over Warren's suit like a parent, smoothing out the lapels of his jacket, making sure he didn't sit in a way that would crease the soft, pewter gray fabric of his pants. Even as they landed, Guetry put some finishing touches on his hair and the dark eyeshadow he'd insisted he wear. "Knock it off, Get," Genni finally said when the shuttle opened. "You're gonna ruin it."
bloom open (Eternal)—
Thrive was restrained once more and they continued down the corridor until they reached an open, unimpressive stone chamber filled with dozens more eliyi, all surrounding the towering Archmaster near the back wall. "This is...peculiar," the Archmaster said. "They have not killed you." Warren blinked and raised his eyebrows at the perfect English, but kept silent as he was told. "I think it's more peculiar that I haven't killed them," Thrive retorted, his voice quiet and deliberate. "But you know that, don't you?"
