Why do we need pride?

I am once again reaching out for your opinion. I have a friend who claims to be very supportive of gays and lesbians (I guess she meant the LGBT community in general when she said that) and she said that everyone can be who they want to be and that we don’t need a pride for that and that she is in general annoyed by pride. So what are your opinions on that topic. How should I argue?

What's your favorite friendship moment in your RP experience?

There are a lot of moments that I’ve built up with y'all over the last year that has honestly made 2019 the best for me, so I’ll have to pick out some key times.

Nikki and i FINALLY watching stuff together like Barry, it makes me feel so connected to her and it’s one of my favorite things to do. @haderhq​

KJ and I agreeing that Kenari was just going to be a hookup when they first roomed together, and wow, do i think about that a lot and get a kick out of it. Another with KJ was staying up all night watching Elise Bauman clips so I could fully understand her love for her along with a shit ton of Keneti/Riverdale videos. @kjapayo​

Sharing with Sam that I thought a dresser was called chester drawers instead of chest of drawers. @dcvescameron​

Those come to mind for now, but there are so many memories that i’ve held onto in this roleplay over the past year that constantly make me smile. Each and every one of you make this roleplay what it is for me and that’s a family that I’ve been proud to be a part off for a while now and I’m getting emotional just thinking about how much y'all mean to me. I’ve struggled a lot in the last few years of my life through feeling alone which brought me to many dark places, and though I still have my moments, y'all don’t know how many times this roleplay and the players in it have pulled me out of it even when I was silent about it. It does so much good for me to be here because you all are such great people, and I couldn’t possibly be more grateful. This is ridiculously long for an ask, but I’m letting it all out because today marks the day that I’ve been here for a whole year and it’s flown by so fast. Janelle Kinsley grew up with a wealthy CEO for a father in the big city of Toronto, Canada. Though her father was in great wealth, Jae did not have the most privileged and happy life. Her mother, the love of her father’s life and his brightest joy, was taken away due to complications during childbirth. Her father knew how much his wife had loved their daughter during the long months of pregnancy so could not bare giving the baby away but that didn’t stop the man from growing bitter and throwing undeserved hate towards the baby girl, seeing her as the fault of the loss of his love. He grew neglective of his child as soon as Jae had begun school, giving her the least amount of attention possible by sending her off to school and then letting her care for herself with the assistance of a nanny that he had hired while he busied himself with his work. Though this saddened Jae to have a less than loving father that was barely, this didn’t ruin her sunshiney aura and love for having fun.

If her father didn’t want her around then she figured that she could entertain herself. Jae had always been a fun loving soul, wanting to explore everything the world had to offer for her and longed for adventure and adrenaline. She was active, loved playing outside, taking a high interest in sports and playing games and being in nature. Or rather, she didn’t like staying cooped inside her lonely and welcoming home. Though she was naturally smiley and friendly, she struggled keeping interest in long term friendships during school, keeping to herself and preferring to do her own thing. It isn’t until she was a late preteen when she found her first substantial long term relationship in a group of misfit kids like her that had also been searching for their place in the world. It began with playing soccer in the streets and having the same penchant for causing mischief. Jae was always a little troublemaker. Her aptitude for wanting to have fun had developed into finding it by simple pranks and activities that could lead to getting in trouble. This lead to many detentions growing up and this combined with their low interest in her studies due to never having strong connection to any subject or career choice and thus less than sub par grades became the cause of her father to be much more disappointed in her than he already had been. This only fueled his hatred and resulted in Jae going through years of hurtful words being thrown at her, always being reminded that she was worthless, a screw up and didn’t amount to anything. It was tough on the girl because she did struggle with not knowing what she wanted to do with her life since nothing traditional seemed to interest her and made her wonder if she did have meaning or importance but this had only steeled her heart, not letting those words drive and instead looked towards support of her friends and pushed her into the ultimate plan that they had during their later teenage years. The moment they had all graduated, they were all packing their bags and leaving for the open roads to see where life would take them left and living impulsively, not letting anyone but themselves tell them what to do.

Before leaving, Jae learned the truth of why her father had even dealt with her for so long. Her father screaming at her not to leave and when asked why because he had never cared a bit before, it was drawn to her attention that her father had only kept her around for her mother’s memory and so that she could help with the company as soon as she could. Hating the idea of solely being wanted as a useful asset and being cooped up in this city, they leave in a heartbeat, traveling all across North America with their friends. The road trip goes strong, their group of friends becoming their own family of sorts but once Jae and the gang had taken a pit stop at a small town in California, Jae couldn’t help but feel the oddest sensation of not wanting to leave for the first time in her life. She felt something was here for her to discover, something big and meaningful that she was searching for but her friends did not think the same, seeing it as a boring old town with nothing significant to it. They had all made up their mind and told Jae they were leaving at the break dawn with or without her and for the first in years, Jae had once again felt that feeling of being unwanted. Her last push was trying to convince her best friend and long term girlfriend, the most important person in her life that had always been there for her since they had met, to stay with her and not leave with the rest of the group. It was emotional for them both but in the end, Jae was left alone and newly broken up since the chances of ever seeing their friends ever again was little to none. So, with just her and her belongings, she decided to blindly try to start something new in the small town of Angel Grove and find that something she had always been searching for. She hopes that she hadn’t made the biggest mistake of her life by staying but whereas her heart may seem empty now, standing in these streets, her heart couldn’t have felt more oddly fully. Or at least, nearly. Throughout her life, Jae had learned many things but the only thing that runs through her head is that the world is complicated and there has to be meaning out there for her somewhere and that in the end, she’d always end up alone. Good thing she can manage taking care of herself.

Your first RP: It was a roleplay on GAIAOnline called Aything Goes, it was a multi-fandom, multi-muse rp. But here on tumblr I think it’d either be the PJO RP Prophecies where I played a daughter of Hecate or Ashworth RP the big supernatural rp where I played a young shapeshifter I think.

Other RPs you were in: Prophecies, Ashworth, House of Wolves, Yesterday, MuddyWaters, and like a dozen other HP rps that crashed and died rather quickly.

Your first character: While I’ve had alot of characters, I think the first one I ever really did alot of work with, development, para’s and not one I had for a couple of weeks and then the rp crashed and burned would actually be Katie Thorne from OL.

Your favourite character that you’ve ever RP’d as: Again, Katie, she was such a versatile character who could go in a dozen ways. Her development was strong, and I did a lot of work to change her from just a troubled prankster to a valiant auror that she became in my mind of her timeline.

Your favourite FC to use: Ellen Page or Eliza Taylor honestly, they have alot of versatility in their range, and lots of resources. For men I’d say Jack O’Connell or Zac Efron or Diego Boneta because they are extremely versatile, lots of resources and easily accessible for multiple tropes and plot lines.

Your dream RP/an RP you’d like to join or make: In the works ;)

Do you prefer to admin or be a player? : I’ve done both, I prefer being a player, as long as the admin is someone I trust to do good work and isn’t an ass hole. But I like admining as well!

What personality type do you think you play best?: Characters who are quick. Now what I mean is characters who have sharp minds, they are quick in their reactions, even if mentally they pace things out or plan. Dani & Katie are good examples of the a-typical character I play- though they are hot-tempered, troublesome, or even just plain annoying there is a methodology to their madness and their ability to change. I don’t like characters that can only go one way, I want a character that can straddle a dozen different paths, someone who could as easily change courses with just a new interaction or a new idea. I like characters who are ‘gray’ in their morals or ‘gray’ in how they go about things. Penny could end up being a good example of this-- choosing radicalization, putting aside her own morals for the benefit of her people but to tarnish herself.

A character (or character type) you’d like to play in the future: There is a character I’ve been wanting to bring back, sort of, he was always in the back of my mind and I’ve slowly developing him and combining him with other traits. He’s the muse that escapes me, probably cause he is a lot like me. I don’t know if I’d ever bring him back, but a down-to-earth, solid, loyal and a character who is more of a cornerstone than a key-player in the overall world is what I’d like to play and that I’ve played.

Do you think your writing has improved through roleplaying?: Oh my God yes! I still have Katie’s original blog, it still exists, and so do al the threads, and the shit tagging, and my writing from way back then! From the first drabble I posted to Penny’s writing I’ve developed and changed my writing style so dramatically.

Gif chats or paras? : Paras, as an overtyper I love Paras, I like gif-chats but you don’t get as much development or mind-work with your character in gif-chats. 

Open starters or planned threads? : I prefer planning threads, but open starters always first to play with characters dynamics.

A memorable roleplay moment: You know, Operation: Riot from OL’s original run really was a high-point. I had developed my character so much, it really felt like a war, it was a turning point, it was a change. I did some great para’s with Anna with her then character Tuesday & Katie, there was some drama between Katie’s girlfriend Cassidy (Lisa’s character). But I think the most memorable moment when I was rp-ing was a thread I did with Carlie, when Katie and Keller broke into the Ministry of Magic. It was there I really got to work with Katie’s strengths, it really showed what she was able to do, and how she could be more than just an orphaned abused Gryffindor prankster. She needed all her ability to lie, to sneak, to make and create potions. It really gave her the thing she needed to become the person who went charging into battle during Operation: Riot, or the girl who developed a spying network within Hogwarts walls. 

Have you made any friendships through roleplaying?: Oh hell yeah, Lisa, Carlie, Bee, Kari, Maggie. Guys, some of the original crew from OL I love, I talk to all the time (looking @ Lisa who I text constantly). They are great friendships, great people, and some of my favorite in the world.

Why did you start roleplaying, and why do you continue to roleplay?: I like to challenge myself, I like to work with others, I enjoy reading other people’s work and see how they write and change even parts of my style to aspects of theirs. I’ve really grown as a writer, as someone who liked world-building, character development, plot making. I don’t think I’ll be stopping anytime soon either!

Ok let’s take this a little further.

Let’s say I‘m out to most of my friends and parts of my family. A rumor starts spreading that I am gay and a person who‘s close to some of my friends asks them for confirmation.

Is it ok for them to say yes?

Is outing someone ok?

I‘m doing a presentation in class about outing someone as LGBT and if it is ethically acceptable or not. Personally I am totally against it but I‘ve read some articles online that imply that it is ok in many situations.
