she barely knows she's treading a track on the floor, her feet moving in an effort to siphon her fury somewhere. she expects better of jamie. he has always been the responsible one, the sensible one, the one that chose stability over desertion. until now. has four years really changed everything so much?

taking in a deep breath through her nose, eliana forces herself to a standstill. her fingers curl and uncurl at her sides. " why are you even still with the brotherhood? " she asks. " especially if you're going to be ... stupid and get in arthur's face? "

even now, she must admit it smarts a little to see what arthur has grown to be; the same child who once pouted after she beat him in chess, running the entirety of the brotherhood only a short decade later. ( and running it to the ground, much to she and the renegades' chagrin. )

" well? " she prompts again, holding out her hands, palms forward. " i stopped pacing, so you better start talking, jamie. "

THERE'S A MOMENT where fingers run across his temples for a moment, her boots pattering back & forth as she practically BURNS A RING in his office with her pacing. Suffice to say there's something to be said about the fact that even after A DECADE she is still distinctly excitable when she is on the verge of losing her temper.

"I take it you are upset."

HE SUSPECTS she's probably still trying to process WHETHER or not she wants to be angry with him for continuing to serve, or maybe ANGRY that he could be so brash with his own life as to openly defy Maxson knowing how EAGERLY he'll kill someone who is insubordinate.

"––if you give me five minutes of PACING-FREE peace I can explain."

He doubts it'll PLACATE her, but at the very least maybe he can get some order long enough to elaborate on what he did and WHY he did it. She wasn't there so he couldn't expect her to know or understand anything beyond word of mouth.
