headcanons. mai's prophecy + cecil's death
years before the actual event, mai castellan predicts cecil's death in a prophecy given to @nosestealer. mai warns lou that cecil's death will be at the hands of one of lou's family line-- in this case, lou's sister lamia. cecil's death breaks something in those he loved, and his life is cut short in the fight against lamia that leads to his death.
lamia's attempt to kill lou is stopped by cecil, who catches her before she can find lou. cecil tries to raise the alarm, and fights lamia in an attempt to buy time for backup to arrive. cecil is an amazing fighter and able to hold his own. however, as mai's prophecy foretold, lamia strikes him and breaks his glasses. blinded, cecil is powerless to defend himself, and lamia kills him before fleeing.
nico avenges cecil's death by hunting down lamia and killing her. it is a brutal and bloody fight, and one that nearly kills nico. it won't bring cecil back, and nothing can ease the pain of losing him, but nico can at least be sure that lamia will never, ever hurt them again.

"good. she shouldn't have to, and neither should you. nor i. nor anyone for that matter."
REESE USED TO THINK LIKE THAT, clinging desperately to the truth and her rage with bruised fingers, hoping that if she just kept it up a little longer, fought a little harder, then peoole would finally have to shut the fuck up and LISTEN.
But then the one person who's ever cared enough to listen to her, to love her despite her edges and the boiling snger she can never quite hide, fell victim to the same shitty curse that stole her brother, nearly taking Reese and the rest of her family down with her. (Had managed to kill her mom and Reese still has a ball of confusion and hurt in her chest, because Dorothy had never really been her mom since Nightwing but she'd never wanted her to experience the curse like that, to die like that.)
“I should've kept fighting for the truth, i know that. I just-” Breathes come out shakey as fingers thread through her hair, trying to keep some measure of control. “I couldn't lose anyone else, you know?”

The woods sparked with magic as the Silent One walked past the trees and into the grove she called her home. People came to her when they needed advice or any form of assistance. She never spoke a word, but somehow everyone could tell what she meant. Her silence spoke volumes, and even the air carried her meaning. But no one mortal had ever heard her talk. Spirits and gods, however, were a different matter entirely.
The god who cursed her was long dead if anyone asked her. Some would then respond with the fact that the very same god had been spotted in her grove. She would always say that this much time creates entirely new people out of old ones. No one would dare say a word when rumors came of loving glances and secret kisses between the Silent Wanderer and the girl who looked like the god who cursed her.
She would answer questions of the ghosts of her past. Spirits often became protectors of the civilization they were once a part of, and frequently needed advice. She always managed to give wisdom and hope, even if others said it before, she could give answers that were believed, not just heard.
The girl who looked like the god who cursed the Silent Wanderer once asked her if she remembered the curse. When she responded, she claimed that she never felt like the girl did anything. Not anymore. So many millenia had passed, that any language she knew was long forgotten. Even if she could speak to mortal creatures, she'd have no one who she could speak to.
When the time came that gods lived among the creatures of the earth, they would come to her as well. Others who went to the Silent Wanderer for advice were careful to not upset anyone, for fear of provoking an angry god. Sometimes the girl who was the one who cast the curse upon the Silent Wanderer would help. Some said she did it out of debt, out of fear, out of love.
Over time, people forgot the Silent Wanderer's curse. It felt as if it was never there, so why bother? The girl beside her was referred to by name, Eais. Something people heard from spirits, and spirits heard from the Wanderer. When people asked her if she had a name, the Silent Wanderer would never answer.
The Silent Wanderer was what she had become. A name was something left of who she was before. Change is what keeps a river of time flowing. Eais once suggested a name to her. She shrugged it off. She was there because time was there. As long as that was the case, there would always be a bit of wisdom and compassion in the world.
You are known as the silent wanderer. Ageless because of time magic. You have lived longer then the oldest of dragons. Cursed to never being able to speak or talk in a way people can understand. But thats OK. Action speaks louder then words ever will.

elle is just going to gently clutch sonny's arm, whispering: "oh my gosh, look at that baby deer go! look at the zoomies!"
"it's the cutest baby ever!" sonny couldn't help but squeak in a hushed tone as she sat watching the baby deer run back and forth.

#1923 - Eleusine tristachya - Three-spiked Goose Grass
Photographed by @purrdence in Waipukurau, NZ.
AKA American crows foot grass, and Crab Grass. The genus is derived from Eleusis, a Greek city where the goddess of grain, Demeter, was worshipped. Tristachya refers to the three spikelets.
Originally native to South America, but now a weed in many other parts of the world, including SE Australia. A coarse, tufted and usually annual grass with slanting shoots.
Eleusine indica, the Indian goosegrass, is an even more invasive weed of agricultural land, lawns, and golf courses, thriving in disturbed areas with compacted soils in full sun. Some populations have also evolved resistance to gylphosate herbicides. Eleusine coracana, or finger millet, is grown as a cereal crop in the arid and semiarid areas in Africa and Asia. It is a tetraploid self-pollinating species probably derived from its wild relative Eleusine africana. Finger millet is native to the Ethiopian and Ugandan highlands, and can be grown at altitudes over 2000 m above sea level, has high drought tolerance, and excellent storage times. Unfortunately growing it is much more labour intensive than less nutritious crops, and cultivation has dropped significantly in many parts of Africa.

@nosestealer : close your laptop. i'm mandating you take a break.
"I can't sleep," Annabeth insists, brows furrowed in concentration before she finally brings her gaze to Lou's. A small, reluctant sigh escapes her. "Taking a break feels wrong. There's so much to be done...."

Kamado nods and follows, listening intently for Eleusine's explanation.

this is an incredibly random ask & something i'm not sure if i've ever told you before but i just wanna say, i really really really love & appreciate your worldbuilding you do, not even just with flori but across all your blogs. the passion, the way you think of so many npcs, complete with fcs, to weave into your muses lives. & just the dedication generally you have to the smaller/background characters. like khione & eleusine - you've breathed such life into them. & your original characters too, of course. but just the way you make these characters & their canons feel so - real? & like idk i just love the work & dedication you have truly, it's something i enjoy every time i see it on my dash. i love going through & reading what i can, tbh multiple times i've gone down rabbit holes - just being lost in your worldbuilding tag(s)! you're literally doing an amazing job out here & i just - we love to see it, truly. i know we don't talk a whole ton but i am here silently admiring you & rooting you on, i hope you know that. & i hope you know how much your creative brain is appreciated <3
thank you so much, @theha1r, for the kind words! it means a lot! honestly, i've always loved minor characters because they have such potential and i find it fun to unearth that potential and turn it into something cool, together with all of my friends. shoutout to all of them, they know who they are! <3 and i think that's the beauty of it: a lot of my characters wouldn't be as well developed as they are right now, if i hadn't met the people i met across all of my blogs. truly though, this blog would not exist without arrow / @founderscouncil. i remember making a list of supernatural characters i wanted to write: some wolves, some vamps and a huntress. and then i saw arrow's dynamic's call for j/ed specifically: an inter-faction romeo and juliet type of thing where neither of their respective groups approve but they're drawn to each other anyway. and i was like: that dynamic is perfect for my new vamp baby! literally, it's been the fastest i ever came up with a fc + name + personality in my life. flori would not exist, as she exists right now, without arrow's j/ed and i will die on the hill that jedibeth is basically f/orwood 2.0. but it's not just j/ed. it's also loren bennett, arrow's take on a bennett daughter, shrouded in mystery. sincerely, i would have loved to watch a spin-off about loren figuring out life and who she is and where she came from and what her magic can do and then ultimately getting together with penelope ;) and then there is king's mia hirsch / @fellvespers. and mia is just a beautiful character study in regards to resilience. mia's story starts when people vanish on her. first, her parents and then, her uncle. and then things just go from bad to worse. mia's story is one of escaping harsh situations by the skin of your teeth and running towards the things and people you need, even if you don't yet know you need them. i also would have loved to see a mia spin-off, diving deeper into werewolf culture as a whole. reading king's writing across the board is just a masterclass in and of itself. flori loves mia and loren so much. in her eyes, this friendship saved her. they kept her upright through so much ranging from family drama to crushes drama. they are her heart and lungs as much as they are her backbone. mia, loren and flori are as much b/arolena 2.0. as h/ope, j/osie and l/izzie are imho. those three fit into this world so perfectly and i feel like they balance out the main l/egacies girls while still standing on their own. but i also want to give a seperate shoutout to tina / @troubleah because i never expected the leah and flori dynamic to blossom as it did but i am so glad it did. i think leah, unknowingly, became a dear friend and taught flori to not only make peace with what she became but to love it and to embrace it with open arms. and i also want to give a shoutout to z / @soulmateprinciple for not only writing a lot of the night world characters excellently but also for getting me into the night world books as a whole. they're very 90's and perfectly imperfect but i do so adore them and z for introducing me to them.

sure lydia has never dealt with what eleusine has, but the banshee was never one to back out of anything. tossing her hair over her shoulder and crossing her arms in front of her chest, "i'm positive."
"i know - i know you've been through worse, and i do trust you. and i know you can handle everything life throws at you. thing is, though, attending the lampadion celebrations? a whole 'nother ball-park. you sure you want to do this?"

"Hecate," Lilith repeated, her tone deadpan in her near-disbelief, far from expecting that of all the parentage this...seemingly random witch would have, that it would be the very goddess Zelda Spellman most recently dedicated her coven to. The same coven that protected Lilith and her son. "The Goddess of Witches is your...mother." Her eyes flickered over the girl, gauging the truth, and her blood, from a mere...visual perusal.
"Huh," she said simply in conclusion, still studying Eleusine even as she accepted the truth. "And were you aware of this coven's...recently acquired loyalty?"
#set this in a verse where lilith has had her son#because then the coven is dedicated to hecate. but also lilith and her son were protected by hecate in birth#and lilith has started calling out to her#so you have the hecate connection. but she's a mother who might therefore be more empathetic to lou's history#nosestealer#v; witch of hecate

Stargazing Underground!
I got @slushrottweiler to do character art for Iris and Verona in Stargazing Underground a while back. I've gotten Slush to do all my sci-fi characters so far and love them so much!
This sci fi romance is available on smashwords and amazon!
Strangers to everything. They should never have met, but now they can't survive alone.
They should have never met.
They have nothing in common.
But when they’re trapped in an underground prison on a no-tech planet together, Verona and Iris bond in ways they could never have imagined.
Iris Eleusine is a Stargazer. He’s traveled the known universe and experienced just about everything worth experiencing. He should have known better than to take a job from a group of synthetics to go to the only anti-tech planet in the galaxy. He should have known there would be a catch.
The catch was Verona. She’s the quiet killer sent with him. The one that got him arrested and thrown into the worst prison he could imagine—without stars or any promise of release. But that won’t stop him from trying. Iris was born looking at the stars and he isn’t going to die underground, even if that means teaming up with the person who got him locked away in the first place.
