Ok I LOVE our unintentional osanwe because I was JUST fawning over Carina Nebula, the first photo in your reblogged James Webb Telescope post! I was googling and thinking, so carina is latin for the keel of a ship and Carina constellation is part of the ship-shaped Argo Navis constellation inspired by, as you know, Jason and the Argonauts, so basically Carina Nebula is in a cosmic ship…doesn’t that remind you of I Vene Kemen? Earendil sails there to explore the ocean landscapes and he’s on a tiny spaceship sailing in an enormous space ship (matryoshka ship your and Aerlinn’s collection braincells <3 <3)

Called the Cosmic Cliffs, the region is actually the edge of a gigantic, gaseous cavity within NGC 3324, roughly 7,600 light-years away. The cavernous area has been carved from the nebula by the intense ultraviolet radiation and stellar winds from extremely massive, hot, young stars located in the center of the bubble, above the area shown in this image. The copper-haired Noldo sheathes his own blade and brushes a few strands of hair out of his face before resting his hand on Elrond’s shoulder. There’s a slight glimmer of pride in his eyes. 

He hadn’t been certain about the young peredhil at first. But Maedhros can see now that raising them has brought a new sense of purpose to his life– after losing almost everyone, it’s good to have a reason to keep fighting this forsaken war. 

He gives Elrond’s shoulder a little squeeze.

Hi!!! I've been wondering, and I'm curious, if Maedhros calls Elúred and Elúrin silver stars, how he would call Elrond and Elros? :) <333 Just random question haha, have a nice day or night!!💓💓

Heyo anon!! Goodness, that’s a good question, and one that I haven’t thought about before! In my head, I always imagined that Maedros would refer to them as his stars (regardless of whether Eluréd or Elurín were found). But that does sound a bit boring, and now I’m really curious if he’d give Elrond and Elros an endearment/title! Thinking about Maedros’ relationship with the twins is always fun for me, so I’m glad you asked!! XDDD

This got pretty long though loll so I’ve moved it all under a read more tag! ^^;;;

Elrond and Elros’ names technically refer to stars already (star-dome and star-foam respectively), so maybe Maedros wouldn’t need to give them an extra star name. Then again, I’ve also considered the version of canon where Elrond and Elros are found in a waterfall cave and named for that. I really like that version, because then I can headcanon that Maedros and Maglor were the ones to name the twins Elerondo and Elerossë :D

I’d imagine that Maglor started it first; Maedros initially didn’t want to get involved, but then at one point he calls the twins by name without thinking, and after that, it sticks!

But as for a title similar to Elin Gelebrin ... I have a few star names that I’ve gotten translated, like Elin ‘Lorin (Golden Stars in Sindarin) which was initially used for an AU (now abandoned). I also have Hrávelen and Lindelen from my time travel AU fic (Wild Star and Gentle Star respectively in Quenya), so maybe I could reuse those??

I’m likely getting ahead of myself now, but I just love coming up with endearments or titles that a character could give to another! ^^;;; Maedros might call Elrond his farseeing-star (because Elrond has the gift of foresight) ... Or the both of them are his stars of hope/faith (because they give him hope of a better future / he hopes that they will have a better future, and that he can protect them long enough to give them a chance, vain as his hope may be at the time) ... And Elros could be his star-heir (I headcanon that Elros is the eldest, and so Maedros sees him as the heir to the Noldorin/Sindarin throne, etc.) ... Or would it be too much to make the names more ethereal, like in reference to Varda’s stars / their Maian heritage?

Of course, the names don’t always have to be related to stars loll But I think it’d be fitting given how much the Elves revere the stars ... And for Maedros to see them as such might be a nice hint to how much they mean to him (rather like his silver stars) XDD and now I want to have all of these translated into Sindarin siiigh but I need to choose which to translate first!

list 5 of your muse’s favorite sensations. 

One. Touch. He’s touch starved and eternally struggling with the knowledge that people could be lying, he appreciates real physical affection, it’s his love language, right next to Acts of Service. 

Two. Cold. Which, ironically, he also hates sometimes. The cold reminds him of home. If he’s in a bad mood, then that’s bad, and if he’s in a good mood, then it’s comforting. He’s particularly fond of snow, and not just the floofy white powdery stuff, sleet is also good. As long as he can warm up at the end of the day.

Three. The burn of muscles, exercise. He spent a lot time not being able to push himself ( or, rather, having to push himself, all of the time, to do the most basic things. ) He likes the sort of meditative trance that he can get into while working out, of giving the body something to do and letting the mind rest for a bit, or work out a problem while he’s busy.

Four. The smell of books, coffee, an office. It’s associated in his mind with the ability to think. To analyse and consider problems, to solve them.

Five. People singing. He doesn’t have to know them, and they don’t have to sing well, but if there’s heart in it, then he wants to hear.

Sandman comics, Neil Gaiman. He started reading them as a kid as a kind of escape, he still rereads them sometimes. 

if the book they are reading turns out to be shit, do they push through just for the sake of finishing it, or do they move on and find something else? 

Vin vc: you can finish a book? No, jk, he finishes book sometimes, it depends on the mood he’s in. He’ll either read it in a couple hours or leave it on the shelf for a month. If a book starts to be bad, he’ll give it a chance to redeem itself first, read another chapter, maybe, and then if it’s still bad, he’ll give up.

their comfort tv show / film

Doesn’t apply. Wouldn’t want to watch a show to calm down or be comforted. Probably just stress him out more. Goes for a walk instead. 

His favorite movie is Howl’s Moving Castle. Amazing animation, he loves Ghibli.

Hm. Curiosity. We both crave knowledge, particularly about people. Vin and I love noticing things, and knowing people. We both find a lot of joy in remembering the simple things about loved ones. He’s more fond of psychoanalyzing, while I do psychoanalyze it’s less of a joy, and more just . . . . knowledge that I have, a thing I do. Also childhood trauma, lmao

what brings you the most joy about writing this character, right now? 

Eleven feet tall. I like, I suppose, Vin’s inevitablility. He stumbles, he has moments where he questions, or even feels like he is going to crash, or does, but he’s still okay, and good. He’s meant, essentially, to be a hero. There is something calming about the idea that it’ll all be okay in the end, no matter how shaky he is throughout the story. ( Which is curious because Ingrid said the exact opposite. Interesting, lol. )

Aside from that, he is just a nice sad dad, and I love nice sad dads. His anxiety makes him endearing to me. Calm down u funky little man <3

who would win in a fight, you or them?

Him, absolutely, every damn time. He is far more trained than I am, and stronger, and quicker. I think he would appreciate my viciousness, though. I fight dirty, but so does he.

any advice from your muse?

Love each other, but love yourself first. You can’t carry everyone else if you’re the one falling. Some things hurt you, but they make you better, don’t be afraid of a little pain. Some things hurt you and they make you worse, learn to recognize the difference. He could give you millions of anecdotes or pieces of advice, but in the end, the biggest one is this: knowledge is power. Recognize the situation you are in, and discover what to do about it in your own time.
