top 5 pets that got DESTROYED by the conversion, and top 5 that got BETTER from the conversion.

Destroyed:

Wocky: The eyes going from triangular to rectangular and the addition of giant eyebrows (plus the different mouth shape) makes this pet look absolutely terrible for literally no reason. There's not even an excuse for why this one looks bad; they just changed it Because.

Kyrii: While there are some improvements here (the mane), the entire head shape of the Kyrii went from narrow at the bottom to wide, making them look strange and loosing most of the trickster vibe. The underbelly going up higher also screws with the ability to read the mouth.

Kiko: The pre-conversion Kiko was very dated and badly needed new art, but this ain't it. Things like the eye spacing, muzzle, and very wide mouth ruined any of the cute aspects of this pet.

Poogle: A more subtle one, but the change in shading and removal of most of the lines on the face/chin really screwed it up, going from a cute fat creature to something really off-putting. Also, unlike the above examples, the converted version is also just straight-up worse with no improvements.

Lutari: Outside of losing the fun, dynamic pose, the Lutari's anatomy and details got really messed up conversion—foot size changed, markings changed, eye shape changed, etc. The converted isn't the worst-looking pet or anything like that, but like the Poogle, nothing was improved.

Improved:

Chia: I don't know if it's just me, but I always really disliked the weird lower lip of Chias and was very glad to see it go. The artwork was also in bad need of an update, with most of the janky linework being fixed (look at that foot on the pre-conversion one).

Peophin: The old Peophin art had some weird stuff going on around the tail and was very under-detailed, so the new version just cleaned it up and improved the anatomy and shading without altering the design much.

Tonus: Another one with dated, poorly-shaded art. However, the big improvement here to me is the expression, with the pre-conversion face looking weirdly detailed in all the wrong places. Once again, just a nice clean-up that doesn't alter the pet too much.

Elephante: Similar to the Tonu, this is once again a pet with badly dated artwork that just cleaned things up and greatly improved the weird expression. The anatomy has been fixed (look at that wing on the pre-conversion art and you'll see what I mean) and the design is also much easier to read. The head piece is also now removable, which is a nice option to have available.

Aisha: The pre-conversion Aisha wasn't terrible or anything, but it had very dated, hard-to-read art that needed an update anyway. The converted version is just the same thing but overall better, and as a bonus, the collar can now be removed if desired.

the customizations are finally done! (or at least at a place where i feel more finalized lol)

i ended up changing Tomorrow into a Shoyru and that really worked out well as i still wanted to keep the winged creature theme

Today is more of a ruler of the day (like princess celestia) and Tomorrow is more like a nightwatch man or someone who leads other through the dark times (either literal or metaphorical)

they are siblings too!

i also really lucked out with some cool nc items that are available- real shame that Tomorrow's heterochromia is very evident from his species angle but he has one yellow eye and one blue eye

my current neopet situation- there are so many of them now. ouagh

i should probably get petpets for the guys who are missing them. at one point i wanted to get a matching petpetpet for everyone i have, but idk if that's still something i want now that i have uhhh. 46 permanent pets. maybe just for specific ones

the ogrin and moehog on the middle account are missing NC wearables that i have on my main, but i'm not 100% sure if i want to move them to different sides, so i haven't sent the wearables over yet

i have like 8 other pets i'm considering making but god, i already feel like i have too many. do i really want these that bad....

pink lenny, blue skeith, faerie... Some species that's yellow ig, since that oc is a light faerie so this would be like, a neopet disguise or something (robotics team that built varn)

Day 10 - Sketch elephante

Never had an elephant but they're charming guys too. I love the sketch brush ideia and I love to just sketch messy drawings so this was very fun to make!

Could you please review Zombie neopets?

Zombie was a logical choice for Neopets to add as a color, as zombies had already appeared in the lore before. However, while the concept is solid, I do find the execution to be a bit lacking at times. It's usually just taking a Neopet, making it a very light green or sometimes blue, adding stitches and mottling, and then giving it a less happy expression (if they even bother doing that).

Sometimes zombie pets will at least have some torn clothing, but it's not a consistent feature, and the amount of clothing tends to vary between full outfits and just a single item. All of this is fine, but underwhelming for the most part. It feels like a color like this really needs to be pushed more in terms of gore and rotting-ness, and minus a few exceptions listed below, Neopets vary rarely dares to go that direction.

Zombie was released after customization, so there's no pre-conversion art to talk about.

Favorite Species:

Elephante: Like I said, a lot of zombie pets play it very safe, so the zombie Elephante is a much needed breath of fresh air. It's surprisingly gory, and all the lacerations and details make it feel cohesive and very fleshed out. It not only comes with a full outfit, but it also has a chunk of exposed skull in place of the usual headpiece that can be removed to reveal its brain. It's by far the best zombie pet out there, and I only wish more zombie pets looked this good.

Flotsam: The zombie Flotsam is not nearly as impressive as the Elephante, but for whatever reason I find myself liking it quite a bit. I think the reason is just the outfit—the expression is perfect and something about the twisted glasses really adds a lot the design. I wouldn't have minded seeing more color and scarring like the Elephant has, but this is one of the better examples of the standard look.

Jubjub: Another one that's more colorful and gory than most zombie pets, the zombie Jubjub not only has a bandage, but most of its skin has fallen off to reveal its flesh underneath with only a few staples holding it in place. It's a really cool concept, and the colors and gory bits really come together nicely. There's no wearables, but given that Jubjubs can't wear clothes very well anyway that's not a huge loss.

BONUS: I don't actually think the zombie Poogle is all that impressive from a general design standpoint, but I have to give it a shoutout just for that masterpiece of an expression.

Least Favorite Species:

Jetsam: Zombie is one those colors where there's no truly terrible options, just mediocre ones. This applies to the zombie Jetsam, which is a very standard zombie pet with nothing to make it stand out. The main reason I picked it for this spot, however, is that the body texture is a really unpleasant polka dotted look with a few way-too-evenly placed small stitches. Most zombie pets are at least decently textured, but I can't say that here. Also, the shading of most of the body feels weirdly low-contrast.
