1stPencil Desking vs. Integrated CRM Solutions
When Dealers meet in a 20 group or with a consultant they often start hearing the sales pitch from the CRM providers saying: “Your Dealership needs a solution that is fully integrated to streamline your processes and save time”. Here is the other side… The majority of Dealerships that leave 1stPencil to go to one of the “Integrated” solutions end up coming back to 1stPencil fairly quickly. There are a couple issues: They see Profits and Close Rates decline The Desking solutions provided by the CRM are not as user friendly and actually slow the process. We often find that the Managers end up reverting to a “G-Screen” or green sharpie presentation because the CRM Desking is so complex in comparison They do not provide the strategies that are provided in 1stPencil like Target Payment that help close the Customer that doesn’t agree to the first offer Most Dealerships only close about 20% of their opportunities. The critical key is to do a better job on the 80%. 1stPencil provides the strategies to do that. The biggest casualty with the CRM Desking solutions is Leasing because it is typically in a different tab and requires a lot more steps They do not provide our Renewal feature None of them have a report like our Presentations Report that shows exactly how the Deal was worked from beginning to end Typically the ones that don’t come back are only because the GM or Owner won’t admit they made a mistake. The Managers want 1stPencil back again but get overruled. Crazy that the Dealers sometimes don’t listen and end up undermining the people that are responsible to actually sell the vehicles and close deals. A good CRM is very important to make sure that the Dealership has the means to follow those Customers that either don’t buy or have bought in the past. Still, the bottom line is that the most important factor in a Dealership sales operation is to “Sell the Vehicle while the Customer is in the Dealership”. We do a better job of that than any other solution on the market. The main focus of CRM providers is to create the best CRM so that they can stay ahead of the competition. Desking tends to be an afterthought similar to the way CRM and Desking are an afterthought to a DMS provider. They need to have a solution but it’s just not their focus so they end up creating a sub-par solution. Keep in mind that we have over 120 VinSolutions CRM clients, over 50 DealerSocket CRM clients and a number of eLeads CRM clients. The reasons are all of the above.
