What an album! Soon after the release I went to go see him live at The Troxy, it was crazy how everyone had already learnt the lyrics so quickly! His production skills are out of this world! You can always tell if its a kayranada tune as well, he's got his own flavour that he adds to his music and makes it his. He's owning it at the moment and I am loving all his collabs with SYD/The Internet.

Dense & Pika - Calf EP 

Every song on this EP gives me chills, a wonderfully produced techno EP under Adam Bayers label Drumcode. I saw the two DJs in play at "fabrics sister" Beam in Bangkok. The venue was so small, a few of my friends and I got a chance to talk to the guys after the party, some of the most laid back people in the industry and genuinely really​​ nice people. After praising their EP  I managed to get a cheeky selfie with the both of them.

Elay Lazutkin - Evil 

I discovered this artist on a night out in Bangkok, his song El Dorado got dropped and I lost my mind. Luckily, Shazam saved my life and I bought the album the next day. I never usually like Techno albums, but this every song on this album is absolute fire. I recommend this album to all techno/minimal heads or people who just fancy learning more about it.

Elay Lazutkin’s Ibiza

This one goes back a solid 5 years, I’ve been in love with this tune for just as long. Ibiza is one of those techno tracks that can appeal to a pretty wide audience, a track made for fanatics and mild fans of the genre alike. It’s a piece that can bring everyone together and mash all their faces into a pulp at once.

I must say that despite the Ibiza name, it most definitely isn’t one of those tracks that plays off the fanfare of the island, also because in 2011 the big EDM bubble was just growing and your Mom likely hadn’t directly heard of the island yet. This roller isn’t the most complex tune ever created, yet each layer holds its own and stands out so clearly that you must admire the production. Straight forward, it’s fire so I’ma break this down quickly so you can move on with your life.

We have a fairly standard opening, a very light beat soons gives way as the bottom end kick and rolling bass frequences make themselves known. Slowly over the course of a mintue, you hear the lighter synths growing as the beat is entirely removed for a 30 second drop which leads to the rebuilding of the track once again. This is usually where I bring this tune in & leave out the intro. After the drop, the beat is now here to stay. It’s almost entirely bottom end at this point, a great (and rare) time for DJs to smash that beatmasher a couple times and combine it with some filter pops to have a bit of extra fun. At this point, I generally stop playing tricks and let the track play. I truly love the minimalistic pops & cracks to this one, you can feel the tiny hairs in your ears vibrating, it’s what makes this track for me.

The intensity keeps building until once again we get the 2nd drop, giving any dance floor a bit of opportunity to breathe until the insanity rebuilds. I really must say the energy at this point of the track is amazing, it’s hard not to really get into it here. As the beat slams in, you’re faced with every single layer at full force... It really is a moment of chaos, especially with that hard rolling bassline underneath. I often like when the peak of a track is right towards the end instead of the middle, it allows the DJ to really keep up the energy and slam in another roller or banger right after to keep the dance floor sweaty.

I played this track live for the first time this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised when people ran up to me, giving me props and compliments on how much of a fire tune it was. I’d definitely give this a listen if you’re a hardcore techno head or even more of a house music fan. I can’t see how any electronic music fan wouldn’t like this. Dance away!
