I think El would enjoy Shania Twain and Will would learn her discography by shared wall or car ride osmosis. I'm not sure what artists he'd like personally, but I just know in my heart he heard I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack on the radio one day, cried and it changed him forever probably. It's has the ache of Landslide, but Much More.
(FIRST OF ALL ! while we’re talking willel music bonding this is my friendly reminder/plea to everyone to read i think there is someone (you love) by @fireflywitch you will not regret it i Promise)
OK YOU ARE SO SO RIGHT !! i hope you dance is one of those songs that changes u down to ur bone marrow and i simply have not been the same ever since so i KNOW will byers had a short but extremely potent crisis immediately following this experience 😗 also idk how u read my mind abt the shania twain but i've had this image in my brain for months about older byler listening to this years down the line on their anniversary or at their wedding or like. even just slow dancing in their kitchen whatever u get the idea !! but the concept of el introducing will to it makes me want to just. just. just.

For the ask away! #24 💕
Loved this question. Thank you! Well here are some which I grew up listening to. Some of this lyrics - if not most - are originally in spanish so I had to translate them (sorry for inaccuracies) but still the songs, I think all all worth listening. Also this are all - almost - oldies cause they are what my parents listen to and hence what they passed on to me in my childhood. We still listen to this songs on the weekends together so they are the songs that bring the most memories from me. Probably I am leaving out so many lyrics I truly love but here are some;
“Dream a dream slowly in my hands until the sun rises through the window. Rayon skin girl, don’t run anymore. Your time is today.” - Muchacha Ojos de Papel by Almendra.
“There was a time that was beautiful and I was truly free. I kept all my dreams in glass castles. Little by little I was growing and my fables of love faded like soap bubbles.” - Canción para mi Muerte by Sui Generis.
“Everything finally happened only that time didn’t wait for them. The melancholy of dying in this world and to live without a stupid reason.” - Mariposa Tecknicolor by Fito Paez
“Your clothes fall slowly. I am a spy, a spectator. And the fan tearing you apart I know it excites you to think how far I will go.” - Persiana Americana by Soda Stereo
“Friends from the neighborhood can disappear. Radio singers may disappear. Those in the newspapers may disappear. The person you love may disappear. Those in the air may disappear into the air. Those on the street can disappear into the street. Friends from the neighborhood can disappear. But the dinosaurs are going to disappear.” - Los dinosaurios by Charly Garcia (This has to do with the people that disappeared during the militar dictatorship in my country so it still give me chills every time I hear it)
“It is easier to reach the sun than your heart. And I'm dying for you, living without you. And I can't stand it, it hurts so much to be like this. Scratching the sun.” - Rayando el Sol by Mana
“I work hard every day of my life, I work 'til I ache in my bones. At the end I take home my hard earned pay all on my own. I get down on my knees and I start to pray til the tears run down from my eyes.” and “But everybody wants to put me down. They say I'm going crazy. They say I got a lot of water in my brain. Ah, got no common sense, I got nobody left to believe in.” - Somebody to Love by Queen
“'Cause love's such an old fashioned word. And love dares you to care for the people on the edge of the night. And love dares you to change our way of caring about ourselves.” - Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie
“I know it's hard to keep an open heart. When even friends seem out to harm you. But if you could heal a broken heart. Wouldn't time be out to charm you.” - November Rain by Guns and Roses
“Do you think I'd crumble, did you think I'd lay down and die? Oh no, not I, I will survive. Oh, as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive. I've got all my life to live and I've got all my love to give and I'll survive.” by I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor.
“Leave me one thing before we part, a kiss to build a dream on. When I'm alone with my fancies, I'll be with you. Weaving romances, making believe they're true.” A Kiss To Build a Dream On by Louis Armstrong
“Why she had to go, I don't know, she wouldn't say.I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday.” - Yesterday by The Beatles.
“The girls need a break-tonight we're gonna take. The chance to get out on the town. We don't need romance, we only want to dance. We're gonna let our hair hang down.” - Man! I Feel Like A Woman! by Shania Twain
“'Cause darling, I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream.” - Blank Space by Taylor Swift.
“Well, thank you, ladies and gentlemen! Thank you so much! You've been so wonderful to me I don't know how to thank you. And thank you to God for making me so fantastic!” There She Goes / Fame by Steve Margoshes (this was my first important role in my middle school Drama Club Production back on 2014 so I treasure it with all my heart - besides this is the spoken part so I loved it, I could do a whole list with just lyrics from musicals)
Extra one, because it remins me of one of my bros. “Because I, I do not want to work, I do not wanna go to study, I do not want to get married. I want to play guitar all day and for people fall in love with my voice.” La Guitarra by Los Aunténticos Decadentes (He’ll hate me if he knew about this but, yeah, we sang this chorus all the time when we were 5-7 years old, he is two years younger than me and we played with a little red-wooden quitar we had at the time)
