also utterly fascinated by the movie adaptation changing the gay kid Ove lets sleep on his couch (and whose father Ove goes to to bitch at him for kicking his own kid out his house) to being trans guy, who still is allowed to stay in Ove's house and who he wordlessly starts mentoring

#like i'm guessing it's just to consolidate the adhd kid in his late wife's class and the gay kid's roles #unless they were the same in the book?#FULLY do not remember its been a bit since i read it #either way since the movie had no scene of ove/otto going to the kid's father and berating him for still treating malcolm like a girl #im forced to assume that ove/otto either continues to let malcolm stay in his house or that the neighbor jimmy does #either way. utterly fantastic. you can see how otto/ove approves of the kid's work ethic and spirit #the only thing he bitches to the kid about is that he's throwing newspapers on ppl's lawns which otto thinks is useless #things i've read #the movie is just really good also ghjhbkj
