Venti himself feel depressed, that's why he drink so much alcohol, to not think about it, but contrary to you he mask it with his playfulness, and things started to get better for him since he started dating you

The first time you got your monthly depression he freaked out, since you stopped talking to him he assumed you got tired of him and wanted to push him away

But to his surprise you still spent time with him, you just, didn't talked whilde doing so

He waited for you ti come to him, he may be a bit of a pushover but he know boundaries, and when after a week or two he saw you getting better and talking again he thought it was just a phase, something must have happened and it got better

But then next month it hapoened again, and you got better, and down again

At this point he realized it was just a monthly depression, when it would it you he would just let you know that if you wanted to vent to it he was totally there for you no matter what, but understood if you didn't wanted to, he got extra clingy during this time too, making sure you know you're cared for

He might even go as far as to not spend some evening annoying diluc at the tavern to be with you, and for venti, that say that you have a very special place in his heart

After a few times he becomes really good at it

If I had to rate genshin men on this one, I'd gave venti a 8,5/10 he might not figure it out immediately but get really good at comforting quickly

Xiao :

Xiao is busy most of the time due to the nature of his job, and when he isn't fighting he struggles with his karmic debt

This isn't exactly like a depression, but it's not far from it, and it's not pleasant either

During some of worst day he refuse to acknowledge anyone, even you his significant other and is unable to say anything

So the first time your depression hit you he thought his karmic debt might have tainted you too and he freaked out

He asked you if you were okay first, he didn't wanted to seek out zhongli to check on you if it wasn't something serious

And you wanted to tell him everything you felt, but the guilt of being a burden to him was too much, you ended with a small "I'm ok" and turned back being mute

He was genuinely concerned but decided to wait and see how things evolved

And a few week later you were back to normal, you talked with him as if nothing happened

He was relived but a part of him knew it wasn't over

And he was right because the next month you became your silent self again

He looked at you with sadness, he wasn't great with words, and you didn't talked anymore so he decided to rely on physical affection such as holding your hand or putting his head on your shoulder to let you know he was there

And each morning on your bedside you would find a quinxin (if I write it correctly) on your bedside

Overall a good companion who know how you feel, I give him a 9/10

Kokomi's life is full of high expectations for her from others

And as everyone she is going to get stressed over it, the fear of not being enough, even more when she occupy a position as important as the divine priestess of watatsumi island

When her energy is at it's lowest she just seclude herself in her little hideout to read a book and sleep a little, just to relaxes

And when she notices you started to feel depressed she was ready for it

Not that she wanted this case to happen, but still, she has a plan for any situation, she had to be ready

So the second she saw you feeling bad she first asked you if you wanted to taok about it, and when you shook your head no she nodded and asked you to follow her

You did as you were told and soon found yourself in a little cave with a desk, a few chairs and a lot of books

Kokomi told you it was her safe space when she felt down, and if you ever feel down again you can come whenever you wanted, not many people knew about this place anyway you would be in peace

So each month, when the depression hit you, you would come there, to read a good book with your girlfriend and sleeping at her side, it was comforting in a sense

I'll give her a 9,5/10 because everyone need a caring fish-girl in their life

First I want to say this : he is the best big brother ever

And what the best big brother would be good at?

Comforting his siblings of course!

Whether it be tonia or teucer he'll do his best to cheer them up when they feel upset

So when he see you upset he try some of his own methods

But unlike his siblings a few jokes and tricks weren't enough to give you back your smile

That's when he make use of his backup plan

He took a week out of his harbingers duties to be with you, all your days during this period are about shopping, dates, quality time

When he see you getting better and got back on his job mbut made sure to check on you through the day

He thought it was over but the next month the pattern repeated, but this time he wasn't able to escapte his duties so instead he propose you to pass the day at his office, and the days would pass with you sitting on his laps ou hanging around with him

If teucer were to be in Liyue while you're in your depression episode childe would send him to spend the day with you

With his little brother as a ball of sunshine you wouldn't feel alone even if he can't be physically with you

Overall 7/10, he can't always make time with his responsibilities but he is trying his best and that's what matter!

With all his paperwork, his shift at angel's share and his daeknight hero duties, I highly doubt he will notice before a few episode over months

I mean yes there were times you didn't talked much, but he wasn't a fan of idle chit-chat anyways, and yes you might have looked more sad recently, but everyone have up and down

It had to be adelyne who avert diluc about your state for him to acknowledge it

But once he does

You aren't going to hear the end of it

Date, gifts, playing chess, you name it he is already preparing it

He can and will treat you as royalty, but he is still busy

But when he saw that what you need is not just being treated nicely but ALSO to have your boyfriend around

For once in a long while et don't go for his darknight hero duties, for your date he started to cancel his shifts at angel's share and now hero dutie's cancelled too

He pick up the hint of a mensual period of depression quickly and each time it hit you he put down everything down to be there

I'll give him a 7/10, as ironic as it his he's a knight in shining armor and he got the spirit!

But at first he will take it lightly

And if you don't feel well, he is going to help by any means possible

He throw out of the window his night at angel's share until you get better, instead opting for a dinner at good hunter, he don't care you don't feel like speaking, he can speak for hours about the gossip he heard through mondstadt and during his nights searching for information

After a week or so, when you started to feel better, he didn't let go of you immediately and he was right because the following month you felt bad again, he then started to understand it will go by phase and he'll have to deal with it for the time being

He will accompany you during every one's of your episode and never letting go, he love you and won't let you believe otherwise

Even if it mean getting both jean and lisa angry because he isn't as much there for his work than he should

But for him that's okay if it's for the love of his life

You only meet her from time to time in her plane of euthymia because she rarely ever visit human world

And the rest of the time you're with the shogun puppet, who might obey to ei, but isn't as nice, or cuddly or who can't even understand human basic emotions

So ei noticed only when you were visiting her, during your episode until now you dealt with it alone, but it hit you when visiting ei

And the first thing the notoced about you is how lost and a shell of yourself you looked

Immediately directing yourself to her you let your head rest on her lap while she gently stroked your head and asked if you were okay

The only few responses she got was different types of grunts and a few nod

She knew right there something was wrong with you because usually, even when something bad happened you used to tell her everything

After going back to your world and your life you were surprised the next morning to find ei at your door

But ei

She convinced you that since she's here for the day you might share a few dango and sweets together

And since she wasn't a good cook and you were unable to, but because of your sadness, the meals for the day were mostly candy and desserts

Ei promised to be back and until you got better the shogun was ordered to check on you and provide you the things you enjoy doing and eating

Over the month it became a ritual, when you started to feel bad you spent a day cuddling with ei in her plain of euthymia, and the second she came to pass the day with you to make you feel better

Ei even made yae miko promise to tell her if she saw you in distress

It's canon that he is searching for a heart, so he don't have one, and usually heart are associated with empathy

But he can be nice, with children or elder people

And with you, but right now not really

When he asked you to talk, and you just couldn't tell him what was wrong he started to ask again, louder and louder

And of course the guilt of not being anle to answer to your partner was accumulating and your eyes became glossy even if you didn't wanted to cry

When he saw that

He became silent for a moment

The next thing he did was to sit down at your side and grab your hand

He mumbled about being sorry for raising his voice, it was so low that if the room wasn't silent you wouldn't have heard it

But you did

Resting your head on his shoulder he tensed up before relaxing and patting your head awkwardly

You closed your eyes to be fully in the moment and while doing so scaramouche smiled before placing a kiss on your forehead

During your episode he made sure to not raise his voice in your presence and to make the paperwork part of his job with you either on his lap or in his company

He was definitely relived when you started to feel better, and all the more desperate when an other episode of depression started

But that's okay for him, he has all the time in the world to make you feel better, and he don't mind doing so

I give him a 5/10 because he is a gremlin, but an adorable one

It all happened when you met him outside of the city. His beautiful music blessed your ears and not to mention he looked so graceful playing on the lyre while sitting with his back resting against a tree.

As a harbinger you shouldn't fall in love so easily but your heart couldn't help but skip a beat here and there.

Of course you were in denial but when you got to talk to him it got worse and you weren't oblivious enough to deny it.

You were fully aware of who he was, but you didn't care enough to leave Mondstadt and your feelings behind.

Before you knew it you started paying for it. Literally.

You weren't sure what to do so you decided to pay up his tab at Angel's share. Yourself you had no idea why you'd do it... But after you started you couldn't stop.

He was confused but he didn't mind. But hey since you were paying how about you join him at least? Having a drinking buddy is much more fun.

You were surprised he didn't keep his distance from you, especially since he knows who you are.

I'd be lying if I said he trusts you, but he didn't dislike you either. He wasn't so on guard around you since the Fatui already took from him what they wanted.

You however were fully after him but not in a threatening way, you just wanted to be his and be able to call him yours.

He wasn't totally uninterested. So he wasn't oblivious to your flirting. But for the time being your relationship didn't go beyond casual flirting.

Ei

How can someone not fall in love with her? Beautiful, strong, graceful, decisive, brave and yet she can be clumsy, clueless but that just makes her adorable- you could go on an on about her.

She wasn't sure what to think about you. But she didn't take the time of her day to see you.

Untill you started sending baskets of something that'll satisfy her sweet tooth. Various of tasty and often overpriced deserts were a surprise coming from you.

And as she isn't ungrateful she made sure to thank you for your gift. She thought that it was a one time thing but she was wrong.

She became slightly interested in you. So from that time she started spending some time with you. It was once a week but it was more than you could ask for.

She didn't pay attention to any of your romantic advances but she showed you hospitality each time you met up.

You made her smile more often, that's for sure. At first her expression wasn't changing at all as you talked but later it was noticeable that she's enjoying her time with you.

But in the end your relationship wasn't set in stone. She didn't know what she felt towards you so even should you confess she wouldn't know how to respond.

i haven’t played the new event but I do agree with you that Mondsadt characters are generally written better. Like out of the archons, while I do love Zhongli, i will admit it more due to being starved from guys in fgo than his character. And I could care less about raides since they butchered her arc and stuck all the interesting pieces in lore rather than showing us. But Venti I could see how him being the god freedom would affect the way he acts as archon but is still willing to be there when it counts. And despite being an absentee archon his people are genuinely happy. And out of nations leaders, while the overworked girlboss is overused for Jean it works cuz its not considered cute on her and there’s like actual affects on people around her like her relationship with Barbara and her friends worrying about her. But honestly I think out of what the nations represent Mondstadts characters represent freedom the most. Also I think they’re allowed to be more goofy than other characters. Meanwhile Liyues characters are good but I think they shine a little better on their own, they don’t play off each other the same way Mondstadts. either way really wish the other nations would stop ragging on Mondstadt since the writing made it a whole lot easier to care about mondstadt then the other two.

FGO really is quality over quantity these days, huh? And then they have the audacity to not let you roll Michael and Takasugi. (maybe next year.)

I find that Mondstadt is more grounded in general. The 'freedom' theme is very well integrated into Mondstadt's city and lore (and a lot less nebulous than 'contracts' and 'eternity'), and there seems to be a... better sense of what the characters are about, at least for the 'core' cast (Jean, Diluc, Kaeya, Lisa, Amber, Venti, etc - I think Eula and Albedo are the most dubious).

What I like about the Mondstadt cast is... yeah, they're kinda messy, aren't they? There's a sense of drama here that's absent in Liyue and Inazuma, where most (MOST) characters are pretty well adjusted. I LIKED seeing Diluc and Kaeya get snippy at each other over Diluc selling Crepus' mansion, and Kaeya's unsubtle desperation to reconnect. Jean getting annoyed at being dragged away from her work. Eula getting smashed, and is jealous and bitter of the Traveller's ability to make friends. I liked Albedo being a bitch in the Archipelago! I like that Jean can't control Klee, and that Kaeya is a bad influence! I like that Crepus wasn't a great dad, I like that Diluc is a trainwreck human that can't deal with loss, I like that Venti's approach to being an Archon is fueled by trauma, and that had real bad effects on Mondstadt in the long run!

But because of that, these characters feel just that bit more rounded, you know? They have problems. They're messy. They're not perfect people. They screw up. There are consequences for that. I... don't feel this approach, like they're genuinely flawed characters, in other regions. Keqing has burnout, but don't worry - she already knows and is working on it! Zhongli never did anything wrong, ever, in his life (fuck azhdaha tho)! Ei didn't actually do a bad thing, everyone forgave her and doesn't blame her (it was Kazuha's friend's fault he died anyway!) Ningguang and Beidou are flawless Girlbosses! Shenhe and Ganyu's problems are fixed now!

Like, are there flaws in other region's characters that the game is willing to point out and take seriously? The game doesn't seem to think Xiao grinding himself to the bone is a problem (thanks Lantern Rite 2.0), Itto's troublesome nature has been framed as noble OR a joke, Beidou's bitchiness towards Ningguang reads more as the writer's not being to manage their dynamic, Yae's bitchiness isnt treated as a flaw and... I can't think of anything else off the top of my head that actually reads as intentional and not just... writing choices that weren't thought through very well. Hell, they even do damage control on CHILDE!

But because these characters are flawed and messy (intentionally so), I feel like they get less respect overall? I remember people being happy that Eula was soooo mature about her family, but that just meant she'd had part of her character arc off-screen and, to me, that made her a less dynamic character. So I was really pleased to see her so blatantly unhappy in this event! It means she still has growing to do, and her issues are tangibly causing problems onscreen! Because that's what you want from characters, right? For them to grow and become better and overcome challenges? Not for them to be perfect out of the box?

He’d been sleeping for many moons now on account of his traitorous former confidant and younger brother who’d struck when he least expected it, injuring him until he was on the brink of death. Zhongli, better known as Yanwang Dijun, the youngest and most outstanding warlord this land had seen in centuries, was calculated by his own brother!

Now imprisoned within his own residence, he could do nothing but lie in bed and recover bit by bit while the white-eyed wolf took over his people on the pretense that he was unfit to do so due to his grave injuries.

“Really, it’s simply inhuman of them to not even feed you regularly when you’re so injured like this! Not to mention that they just allowed your wounds to fester as if you’re no better than roadkill…”

Though his body made no movements aside from his slow and shallow breaths, he was more than aware of your presence and clearly heard the sincerity of your words. For he is not just a warlord in name, but his skill allowed him to maintain a spiritual body for when his physical one was out of commission. Your regular meticulous care had allowed his self-healing to accelerate enough for his consciousness to awaken despite his physical body being way too gravely injured still.

Truthfully however, he’d been too busy trying to expand and stabilize all the territories he’d conquered during his campaign to even think about his carnal desires and besides, he can take care of himself should the need ever bother him too much. The chance that he could also be assassinated while either in the throes of passion or if his chosen lady might be an enemy spy also prevented him from seeking one out.

“Since even the servants refuse to give me actual medicine for your wounds, I’m at least thankful there’s a lot of guava trees just outside our house. Although my family could afford to buy medicine, we usually just use all the parts of the guava tree that’s been growing at our courtyard for decades now”

The dark-haired dragon’s heart clenches in spite of being only in his spiritual form, your unwavering kindness awakening feelings within himself that he never knew he was capable of experiencing. Though you were simply used as a way by Zhongchun to make a mockery of him, the fact that you never forgot to feed him, clean his wounds, and find ways to improve his healing spoke volumes of who you are as a person.

Especially now that he’d become more aware of who his true allies are after the battle that crippled and rendered him unconscious.

He will have his revenge.

He will take back what is his.

And...he will make sure to give you a proper wedding and treat you like the pearl in his palm for the rest of your lives.

As someone who’d never had a relationship in her past 23 years of living, the last thing you expected was to find or well, had a husband forced onto you at this age. Then there was the fact that said husband was the famed and also infamous Yanwang Dijun who could slay 100,000 enemies with just a swing of his mighty spear. Additionally, the war lord had been gravely injured to the point that everyone simply expected him to peacefully die in his sleep simply because of how severe his injuries were.

So in the end, you were only expected to take care of him until he inevitably passed away.

But you didn’t want to simply give up on a great man who’d done so much to unite the scattered tribes and cities of this great land. For all the atrocities he’s been said to have committed, you yourself know that the great general never ordered or committed anything that would brand him a monster in the eyes of the gods. A mixture of admiration and pity was what pushed you to do your best to slowly heal his body despite the lack of medical supplies and ample food to help sustain him.

What you did, you did out of your own free will without expecting anything in return.

Yanwang Dijun is tall and broad of shoulder, arms rippling with solid muscle and decorated with smatterings of scales and other markings that glowed as a testament to his dragon’s blood.

And he stared down at you with such intensity that you were sure you’d melt on the spot as if you were a block of ice left upon the courtyard during a sunny day. His amber eyes shone, long and majestic dragon tail swishing lazily behind him while his arms caged you against the wall.

It’s almost like the cat that caught the canary.

You gulp down the invisible lump that seemed to have formed inside your throat, trying to look anywhere except for the dragon himself before you finally found some semblance of courage.

Before you could finish, you find yourself pinned beneath the larger and undeniably sexy form of your husband, heated amber eyes staring into your own with unabashed want.

I personally don't enjoy Raiden's characterisation because she is all about "tell don't show" if it makes sense. Childe's is probably what I envisioned for her.

Her storyline just has a lot of wasted potential and corners cut short for the sake of simplification. Her actions lack consequences as it seems that even if a civil war happened because of her carelessness, NO ONE will complain or question it. The Fatui were just shoved in the role of main villain of the story once again because everything is THEIR fault. You could argue the Kujou Clan also fell in dishonour but that's really it, though it probably was my favourite part in her story quest.

Her story quest just was nothing like any of the other archons'. Both Zhongli and Venti show their circumstances and stories through beautifully written moments. Venti reminiscing in silence contrasts very well with his usual loud and funny character, and Zhongli just being completely done with stories of Rex Lapis and being very honest to and serious about contracts ground him even more into the status of "Gnosis or not, he is a god." And shows that back in the day one could say he was friends with the Gods he ended up sealing away.

Childe is from the get go still suspicious, and we aren't told to personally meet him of our own will. We see how he keep pretenses up for Teucer and indulges him, something you'd think is completely stupid at first, but the way he dedicates himself to his family is admirable, and he touches a cord with the traveller by going all "we both want to protect family".

Ei is just :| I get what they wanted to say about change and everything but it felt very superficial, and they really missed a beautiful moment by not giving the Kujou heir a vision despite the strength and perseverance he showed. Especially if it was an electro vision since it could be the first electro vision granted in a long time. Also where was Sara it was literally about her clan >:| They could've shown how Ei keeps they new people by her side at arm's length to not get hurt by their passing, and her and Yae's friendship isn't shown at all either so a lot of the story that should be relevant to her isn't, aka her relationships with others.

More Genshin Impact Headcanons I’ve Been Thinking About Lately: Barbara x Venti Edition

When it comes to Barbara and Venti, there are 2 things that seem to be clear: 1. While she might not be able to recognize Venti for the God she spends all her time in the church worshiping for, Barbara still seems to see him as a friend of sorts AND 2. She, much like Venti in turn with herself, seems to respect him as a musician in his own right, going even so far in one of her voice lines to suggest that he is leagues above her in talent and that there's much she could learn from him.  As such, considering Venti himself considers Barbara a talented musician, and is overall quite friendly with everyone he meets, I can imagine that if Barbara ever took some of her free time while not busy with her Sisterly duties to approach the bard as a friend with the suggestion they practice their craft (I.E.: Music) together, he would be extremely overjoyed~  After all, while the blonde may simply view him as she would any other human being, if anything this isn't such a bad thing per say (especially after he loses his Gnosis).  In other words, it's rather BECAUSE she's able to see him on her level (again biology wise as opposed to talent wise) that he's much more willing to host these little jam sessions with her if only to let loose and be himself, something I think he's probably been concerned about ever since the Gnosis incident in question.  Sure, he may not be able to vent (pun not intended) to Barbara like he would be able to with another Archon like Zhongli, but just spending time with the nun is enough to relax his soul so that he can make peace with his current situation much easier.

Furthermore, by allowing himself to let his guard down, albeit a little bit while around the blonde, I can picture the bard's own carefree energy eventually rubbing off onto the nun who, while not overly serious all the time, is constantly overwhelmed either with her work at the church or dealing with the Barbara Fan Club's rather pushy members, and is thus able to relax in a way she is probably not used to.  As such, by continuing these little jam sessions with one another, eventually over time I can also see these 2 warming up to one another until, one day, they realize that they are not only now meeting up at the same time, place, etc. without having to plan ahead, but are also in sync with each other musically as well~

It is only once they get to this point that their relationship has gone from casual to something much more meaningful.  Barbara might not be an Archon, but she is truly a great friend, and Venti couldn't be prouder to consider her as one of his own.  On that note, while he knows that ultimately getting so attached to a human again is probably a bad idea in the long run (especially after what had happened to his last human companion), he also knows he'd be a complete jackass if he just up and dumped Barbara and her kindness to him down the drain for no reason other than to spare his own feelings.  So.  Even though his common sense might be calling him an idiot every time he remembers her birthday, or decides to give her a gift during a special event celebrating her work at the church...or even writing her a poem for her eyes only during Windblume, he will always tell that little voice inside him to zip it because he's Barbatos, the God of Freedom, and he should have the freedom and peace of mind to be happy...

After all, he can't keep himself from missing out on something special in life with the excuse of it being a temporary thing because there's no such thing as eternity (even though Ei might disagree).  That said, once Venti is finally able to convince himself of this, I can imagine him putting in the actual work towards a relationship with Barbara for better or worse.  After all, Venti has been around for longer than the blonde's been alive, so to say he has baggage would be a gross understatement.  However, once he finally opens himself up to the idea of being together with Barbara, both platonically and later romantically, I believe their relationship will be much better off for it :)  Yet, on that note, part of this openness is getting Barbara to see what's been in front of her eyes all along...

To be fair on Barbara's part, although she may live in a world of mystery and intrigue, of dragons and monsters and magic, she spends the vast majority of her time in a church where she seemingly devotes her heart and soul to worshiping the God she believes to have created everything she knows and cares about.  As such, while on the one hand you might think meeting the physical manifestation of said God might be a dream come true for her, in reality it might be the complete opposite. In short, by meeting a man who claims to not only represent the physical manifestation of all her hopes and dreams in the form of a bard who likes to drink a bit too much, in the event said bard is telling the truth, then she must now come to terms with the fact said hopes and dreams have a concrete form, and as someone with a lot on her plate all the time what with her family issues and her personal responsibilities, the idea of her hopes and dreams being concrete as opposed to abstract sometimes might be a bit too much for her to handle knowing all the time.  However, if Venti actually takes the time to breach the subject with her slowly as opposed to dumping his entire history on her all at once, I believe it will be much easier for the blonde to handle, and will overall be much better for their relationship overtime (especially if said relationship takes a turn for the romantic).

Indeed, once the 2 of them are able to work out these issues in their relationship, so long as they continue to communicate with each other openly about their problems, respect each other's boundaries in terms of physical and emotional concerns, and are consistent about what they both what out of their relationship, then said relationship would be not only incredible for both of them once they start dating, but would also be incredibly cute :3  For example, once they officially start dating, imagine the 2 of them performing mini concerts as a fun activity together away from the city, as well as composing songs or poems to read to one another during special occasions (or in Venti's case lol, whenever he feels inspired by his cute girlfriend)~

Most importantly, however, once they start dating Venti will be able to expand Barbara's worldview in ways she could never expect, and she the same vice versa.  Whether it be introducing her to the other Archons or Adepti, or showing her the wonders of things like Serenitea Pots, Barbara will find herself learning all there is to know about the world of the Gods (with Venti taking his time introducing all of this gradually of course), while Venti himself will find new insights into the lives of the people of his nation he may not have noticed before.   Such as how truly involved some citizens are with the church of Mondstadt, or how much the very idea of Barbatos means the world to Mondstadt's citizens.  Venti knew just by looking at the statue carved in his image that the people of the nation he was meant to watch over saw him as great deity, but it's only with the help of his girlfriend Barbara that he is truly able to appreciate the prayers, hopes, and dreams offered to him not just because he's a God but because he's the God of Freedom - the freedom to hope and dream for whatever your heart yearns for.  As such, with Barbara by his side, she knows as well as him that he's just as thankful for that freedom as everyone else, because, without it, he might not have had the courage to go after what his own heart desired...
