Me vs Pokemon Blaze Black

Of course, as I always do, I’ve created a new hacked team for Pokemon Blaze Black.

Visibly, the biggest change from previous teams is the removal of... basically all set-up moves.

This was due to the realization that I’m impatient, and don’t really like hurry-up-and-wait strategies. It works, but it’s just not fun to play with.

As a result, I gave Sableye Swagger/FoulPlay instead of DragonDance/BatonPass. A change that has made it a lot more situational, since I can’t really use it against things with high Def and low Atk, and it’s kind of weak to someone just switching out. But in compensation for that, it’s a lot more fun to use.

Kingdra remains unchanged as my anti-weather and general sweeper, because it’s bullshit-good and I love it lots.

Mienshao enters the field, because it’s pretty much the fastest Fighting-type you’re going to find, and with a 100%accurate 130power STAB-move? Ain’t a lot of things that can survive that. (I also included Foresight, because without PerishSong I need some way to kill an enemy Sableye.)

Now Swanna and Pachirisu are a readaptation of an old dual-battle idea of infinite healing, except instead of healing, they just boost each other’s Sp.Atk into eternity. It’s ludicrously strong. I went through the battle-train twice over and never had to switch in another pokemon. They have some weaknesses (Ground-types, Water/Electric-absorption abilities, and Grass-types aren’t great either), but they’re still terrifying.

Smeargle on the other hand... Well, I needed an HM-slave, and after having gotten more than a bit sick of tinkering with trying to get one that would be useful in a fight (a Prankster Lopunny with HealingWish was an alternative), in the end I valued the integrity of the other pokemon’s move-pool more than that kind of super-situational utility. So, instead I turned it into my egg-hatcher and simply didn’t use it in combat at all.

As for names...

Sableye has been named Mayoi (after a certain troll-happy girl in Acchi Kocchi).

Kingdra’s name remains Toto (for understandable reasons, considering that it brings the rain).

Mienshao has been named Sinon (named after a certain sniper from SAO).

Swanna has been named Harribel (after a certain Espada from Bleach, due to the flying and the massive amounts of bullshit-water).

Pachirisu has been named Negi (after the main-character of Negima, because absorption-powers and bullshit-lightning).

And Smeargle has been named Hayate (after a certain Combat Butler who just so happens to be filled with useful skills to exploit).
