The figure of the artist has been attributed to man since long memory, this can be seen in film,literature,museums etc. It is the result of centuries of religious and social oppression, which in return generated gender inequality,still suffered today. European history, which I have learned from early years of my life, heavily influenced by Christianity, has always been obsessed by the all-powerful fatherly figure of God and the importance of the holy son, Jesus. Emphasizing the holy virginity of Mary, supreme figure of the Mother. These three statements resumes the following; The Patriarchy, male-preference in families and the only purpose of womanhood; motherhood. In my opinion, those societies who have lived through this for  more than 2020 years have serious emotional problems. What we today call phallic-egocentrism and male toxicity, as well and internalized misoginy.The role of women in art changed according to culture, social class, time and place. We tend to forget that apart from creating life and breastfeeding, women are already born with the gift of creation. Quite a literal one as we all know. Creativity is born of women. We create creators, artists and art. And yet our education has limited us to being the object of representation. There is an unequal power in how history is written and the same is true of art history. It has been subject to the preference of the privileged vision: European societies who have dominated and shaped for centuries continents and cultures like Africa and America.
