Gaelio’s in wheelchair bcs all this time, he’s only able to walk bcs of his connection to Type E AV/Ein. Once Ein’s no longer functioning, Gaelio loses his ability to walk.

It’s been 5 years yet Gae’s still in wheelchair means it’s not his legs that got damaged; it’s his lower body.

meaning it’s futile even if he gets prosthetic or mechanical legs

it means all through season 2, Gaelio’s perfectly aware it’s only a matter of time before half of his body becomes disabled permanently yet he never even mentions or talks about it.

esp to mcg

like, even in all his confrontations with McG, Gaelio never once tells him that bcs of him Gae would never be able to walk again.

even in s02e24, Gae only mentions how McG destroys Carta and Ein, never about Gae’s own real condition

Gae’s trying to spare McG’s feelings

McG probably thought he only damaged Gae’s status and face, and nothing more serious.

Despite all the horribble things McG had done, Gae actually still wants to forgive McG

All that, and Gae never tells McG ‘I wish I had never met you’

he’s not only complimenting Ein on a jod done well and saying goodbye, he’s also thanking Ein for giving him legs to stand on all this while

it’s a total throwback to ep 19 when Ein told him the exact same thing

If Ein’s been helping Gaelio walk, does that mean Gaelio’s literally never alone? Meaning Ein’s with him ALL. THE. TIME. and not only when Gae’s inside Kimaris/Vidar?

So does that also mean Ein has access to Gaelio’s brain all the time too, or only his body? Considering, you know, to walk Gae still has to command his limbs to move, meaning he still has to communicate this to Ein in order for Ein to help him?

I feel like Ein would be angry at himself for letting Gaelio get hurt like that in the first place (I mean he was kinda busy but still) even if Gaelio wouldn't blame him and Gaelio feels guilty for Ein ending up like he did but Ein would just be happy he can still help him and neither sees how much the other cares past their guilt...

I think after, Ein’d be the one to make a move/reached out to Gae first bcs he was way more familiar with anger and guilt and all those would entail, including the uncertainty and the numbness and just everything it encompassed. While he himself was not really equipped to help another person through it, esp since he was still struggling and everything, but more than anything I think he’d realize if he didn’t do anything then gae would never come to him - not even to apologize, bcs he was that ashamed of himself, bcs mcgillis was *his* friend and yet he hadn’t seen mcgillis for what he was, couldn’t see how blinded he was by everything, and he wouldn’t try to apologize bcs he didn’t think he deserved to be forgiven, all the more since he knew Ein would forgive him in an instant.

I think this self-hate and self-deprecation was a new emotion to Gae, who, with all his brutal honesty was more of a forgive and forget kind of guy, who used to believe owning one’s own mistakes would fix everything in the end, who used to believe there was a positive solution to everything–and had to find out the hard way sometimes there’s just no fixing it, there’s no fixing what happened. He needed to change his world view and this was the hardest thing to do, esp since there would be no outside help–just him and Ein. He would lay down his life for Ein and die for Ein but he still couldn’t fix him and this was a problem bcs he couldn’t bring himself to face Ein, couldn’t bring himself to accept what Ein had to offer.

and Ein would be so kind and patient with him, just like the way he wished someone had been kind and patient with *him* then. For a while he’d probably let Gae be, though eventually he’d force Gae to get out of his shell and let him in, let him help him, let him face what they have to face together.

I need to talk about his hair bcs I also couldn’t stop pondering about it.

He has that scars on his face, so at first I thought his hair got burnt in the same incident and he just doesn’t have the time to fix it. But such a state of hair could not have been fine for a guy who was raised with a certain (probably strict) grooming standard and used to have his hair styled all nice and tidy (down to exact millimeter probably) all his life. Also, in two years the hair should have grown back to its former length, so I think he purposefully keeps his hair that way: short, untidy, with some random bangs being longer than the others.

short - just like Ein’s hair, to remind him of Ein, so that he would never forget how Ein looked like before he lost his body.

untidy - so that he would not forget how he came to be this way, who did it to him, and how he still has things to finish before he allows himself some peace.

some random bangs being longer and get in his face - to remind himself not to lose his own sense of self. Judging from the length, he should be able to tuck it behind his ear, but chooses not to. So far, the only times his hair got in his face were when he was in distress (losing to Mika in s01e19; facing mcgillis is s01e25). While it may not mean he’s always in distress now, it’s more along the lines of him acknowledging he’s not okay, but he’s trying, please give him time to recover. It’s dramatic as hell though. But then again he’s always been dramatic, so. Also, It’s worth noting that when it (him in distress) happened, it always happened in private; so I think the Vidar mask he wears for two reasons, 1) to hide his identity as has been stated before, and 2) to isolate and hide himself from the world without actually being a recluse. Which is why, him showing his face and his actual state to the world at large is significant: he finally found his resolve, he eliminated his doubts, he’s finally ready to face the world not only physically (like when he went as Vidar) but also mentally.

Uh by for gae or mcg, do you mean whether the staff ever mentioned this in interview, or whether the song is actually the personal theme of either gae or mcg? If it’s the former, unfortunately I rly can’t help you; but if it’s the latter, I *think* it’s probably intended to be mcg’s; this song’s playing during mcg/gae’s confrontation, right? I need to check if this song’s playing during mcg’s solo scenes, but i’m pretty sure this song’s not in gae’s solo scenes (I could be wrong tho).
