Such an unexpected and good discovery.
The music is so unlike what one expects from Progressive Metal.
If I remember right, this album was referred to in a review of Pain of Salvation's 2020 album Panther. It contains so much keyboard sounds that make it so hard to fit it into all my past experience and expectation of Pain of Salvation albums.
So, this album is another great discovery today.
And I have been reluctant to explore this band because the name made me think it could possible be some doom/bleak themed band. Maybe they started off as that. (After all, Anathema started off as a Doom Metal band. BUT it also created an amazing mostly/often acoustic and introspective album titled Weather Systems.)
No, I'm not claiming I can use logic from one place and force-fit it in another place - and make claims about things.
And Pain of Salvation's album Panther is another point supporting the change in sound and 'so unexpected from them'.
But, digressions apart - please do listen to the album.

Passionate singing in many/most songs and most songs do not fit in the usual expectations of prog-metal. (I am now only repeating myself...)
Ah, before I click Add to queue: The lyrics for this album are mostly from their singer, who developed a health condition and had a 1.5 year experience of struggling with depression. Lyrics weave off such introspection.
Song #1 (Below) is an amazing starting point... check the vocals at 1:20 for some idea. This is the very first song I heard from Leprous. Changed my (previously ignorant) opinion of the band.
Though no Net/AI gave an answer as to why they chose the name Leprous. The one nugget I got from AI chat/search was 'maybe it is intentional to contrast the band name with the music which is so experimental' (as in, unexpected).

Einar Solberg - 16
Tumblr media
Leprous-ukkelin eka sooloproggis. Tsekkaa Remember Me, A Beautiful Life, Home, Grotto, Splitting The Soul ja Over The Top.
Lätty julkaistu kesäkuun 2, 2023. Spotify.

EINAR SOLBERG Releases Special Performance Video for ‘Within My Fence’, "The Congregation Acoustic" Album Out February 16th
EINAR SOLBERG – frontman of Norwegian rock mavericks Leprous – released his debut solo album ‘16’ earlier this year. But back at the beginning of 2022, he took on an entirely different solo endeavour. For a special live streamed performance, he reinterpreted the Leprous album ‘The Congregation’ in full, just piano and voice. Now that performance will see an official audio release as ‘The…

I love songs that are about scientific discoveries or a human studying something way beyond his understanding or the end of the universe , but then you realize it's actually a love song

For the music ask!
6 and 28^^

Alright let's do this!!
6:A song that makes you want to dance I'm not a big dancer? XD But I will, like, hover / wiggle / stomp / crabwalk / air-a-variety-of-instruments and I guess that's movement to music so it counts as dancing? *insert meme picture of unsure grandpa here* Ok so let's see, a song that makes me move.

Spiritbox - Holy Roller Yo, this groovy bass and guitar line? The shoulders are going already. I hop to this. I hop a lot. To be fair, a lot of Spiritbox gets the shoulders and chest going. These guys are stupid groovy.
28:A song by an artist with a voice that you love I have so many choices for this question oh my god what torture to pick one!! Let's shine a spotlight on Mr. Einar Solberg, voice of an angel, absolute powerhouse at the helm of prog masters Leprous.

Leprous - Castaway Angels This is off of Leprous's album Aphelion which was my album of the year in 2021. An absolute perfect album from start to finish, and beyond Baard Kolstad on drums, the mastermind behind this band and one of my biggest drum idols of all time, this album and band overall shine because of Einar's vocals. His voice moves me to my core. The vulnerability, the cracks, the flips into head voice, the crescendo, the mindblowing power (he is not even close to pushing in Castaway Angels guys, nowhere near his range, 'tis just a fav of mine because the build of soft voice to full voice brings me to tears and gives me goosebumps all over). This man is a treasure, protect him at all cost. He's also one of my fav vocalist to sing along with :D Not that I can replicate, but dear god is it fun to follow xD
