Listening to Eidolon: Ska episode 11 and got an image in my head

hey jake! what was your childhood like before naomi locked you away? did you two ever get along, or did she always resent you for "causing problems"?

We would compete on the swingset to see who could do a 360 first. We did moves on the slide, each with their own arbitrary style points: 300 for backflips, 200 for handstand, 400 for balancing on your head. Naomi was prone to sourpussery and I took it upon myself to cheer them up.

whats eidolon playtest disco and ska about? Ive never seen homestuck so unfortunately no point of reference for that, but I love media people say is "x but good" so Im curious

(found your old posts on pop and rock though so no need to talk about those two)

in eidolon disco, 4 teens in 1979 start a mystery solving club and end up getting drawn into a mysterious competition for unfathomable power that their whole town is secretly in on

...in eidolon ska, 4 teens and a bug in 1999 try to solve the mystery of the inexplicable disappearance of the original members of the mystery solving club

they both lean into a small town high school setting a lot and spend a lot of time delving into characters' psychology and interpersonal drama -- compared to poprock there's definitely less of a focus on fighting. really great podcast and the second season goes some wild places

Getting gradually Ska pilled due to Eidolon playtest and because those are just hanging out in my liked songs I'm getting a lot of swinging between that and like, the usual brutal metal or whatever I'm generally into and it is really having me wonder if there's any bands I can find that are doing the chocolate and peanut butter on that

everyone please go listen to eidolon playtest right now. this truly is like homestuck but good. and i truly love homestuck. the things this this podcast does with the format of an actual play are insane Disco/Ska has so many incredibly cool things going on. this is truly a story that you could not tell by any other method. please, please listen to this podcast
