"I don't like the forest. What if I run into another monster?"
He's supposed to be scouting ahead, but he's not very good at it...

"... barbarians...Didn't even use a bowl..."
@polarized-bell-goat (I loved this, especially Skink! That fae is terrifying)

NOTE: THE FOLLOWING LORE CONTAINS MENTIONS OF EATING EGGS. Beyond that, there isn't much graphic-ness contained within it. For the sake of everyone, I will be including the small story that goes with this in a read-more, and I will not be main tagging it. Take care of yourselves!
The specific Egg-Eating lore I'm using here belongs to @hypergryph! If you're in to this sort of semi-horror stuff, go look at their stuff!
Myfi had been traveling for weeks.
He knew why he was somehow still alive, despite the hunger gnawing at his stomach.
Months ago now, he had sought out a rare delicacy that he had only heard of one group of dragons indulging in-dragon eggs.
The aforementioned group was gone at this point, most likely either locked in a prison, or dead somewhere, but hey, Myfi was curious. Curious as to why they'd do that. Why they'd eat another dragon's eggs.
But once he'd managed to crack open that Arcane egg and partake in the wonders beneath that shell, he understood.
Since then, he'd been running through the lands, stealing whatever eggs he could, constantly partaking in that forbidden ambrosia-and not once had he been caught.
Not once until now, his head pinned to the floor by a Fae far too large to be normal.
With a creak like his bones weren't in right, the Fae turned over the ice egg he'd taken from Myfi's grasp.
"My my, friend," the Fae spoke in a way that matched how he moved, "now what were you just about to do?" Spiraled eyes flickered to a nearby sharp rock, and Myfi swallowed hard.
"Hungry," Myfi croaked out, deciding to take the route of pretending he was desperate for food. Somewhere else, his Dreadwolf was being kept at bay by the Fae's Pronghorn. The Fae's smile creaked open wide, needle-like teeth poking out of drawn back gums. At that moment, Myfi realized this very much was not a normal Fae, if his size was any indication.
"Well I suppose we should introduce ourselves, hm?" the Fae fluttered his crest and chuckled, the birdskulls around his neck clacking together, "my name is Skink," he paused for a moment to step back off Myfi's head, "and yours is....?"
"Myfi," Myfi shook himself off, deciding to play through the lie, "I...I've been lost for ages, and I was so hungry that one time I...I ate a dragon egg," no one else was around, and it was clear if this...'Skink' wanted to kill him, he'd already be dead, "But now...gods, if I don't have them, my body gets these....awful aches, and I...I have to. I have to eat them or-"
"Hm, addiction is a nasty thing," Skink seemed to glare through the shell of the egg he was holding, "but I suppose magical ones can't be fixed, can they?"
Myfi caught the egg as it was tossed back to him, and he stared at it, then at Skink, who waved his talons.
"That one tries to kill me when he's older, have at it, consider it a gift."
The Fae turned away, and Myfi immediately turned to whack the egg against the rock with a CRACK, slurping up the minty fluid inside. Clearly his false story had been taken face-value, and he wanted to laugh to himself, not even thinking of what Skink had said when he had given Myfi the egg back.
"When you're done with that, feel free to follow me home," Skink offered, "My clan is very fond of misfits. Oh! And one more thing, Myfi,"
Myfi looked up from his meal, allowing his Dreadwolf to take her fill, seeing Skink staring over his shoulder at Myfi.
The Fae's face had dropped, bright red eyes staring right towards him.
"Don't ever lie to me again."

Was inspired by @hypergryph EggEater lore and well it fits in the new lore I’ve been building up.
So to intro my first place is Puck (¬ω¬)
Somewhere hidden in the Ashfall Wastes is the entrance of a ‘cave’ that doesn’t lead underground. Instead it traps any who wander in into a strange lande called the Yonderlan, in the center of the Pyrewood Forest. These dragons are not the natives. No the natives were only the landscapes themselves, a few tribes and packs of beastclan, and the two swarms…
Puck lives in this very forest. She hatched alone, in an abandoned nest. The predators being a unique swarm of Veilspun, had only left the skeletal remains of her parents encircling her.
A tiny hatchling could not forage or fend for herself in anyway, Puck wandered as her hunger grew. What she found was that when the Veilspun swarm overpowered any dragon that had a nest, they didn’t touch the eggs. Desperate she made any egg she came across her diet…
Tumblr media
With a surprisingly steady enough supply of eggs she slowly grew and found her form changing with the magic of the strange land as well as from the concentrated magic from the eggs themselves. Soon enough she was a strong and very fast young dragon and could steal eggs any time she needed a meal, eating one or two eggs every day at the least…
Tumblr media
For as dangerous as it is for dragons with Puck and the swarms around Pyrewood is the only safe place the non-natives can dare try to live in the hostile land of Yanderlan…

Are you okay with other people using your egg eating lore? Canonically my clan is full of monsters and other beasts and I thought it'd be fun if there was an egg eater in the clan, perhaps directly inspired by hearing tales of Matthias.

So if the raw magic inside of eggs comes from the deities what would happen if someone, say , drank one of the deities blood? (Assuimg they dont die instantly)(and that deities have blood)
Talosian Researcher Aurashira:
Your question is an unusual one indeed, and required quite a bit of digging in the Talosian Archives! After scouring and scouring, I managed to find these texts hidden within a false page of Sol'Aurii's private journal...
{"The gods aren't merely flesh and bone,
The gods aren't blood, nor bane, nor stone,
Nor fire, water, lightning, air,
nor light nor shade, nor nature's fare.
Not even magic doth compare...
To forces vast and cosmic.
Yet should a bug-like paltry thing,
from cosmic layline latch and cling,
and thus indulge in hubris deep,
and taste from blood forbade to seep,
impossible a drink to keep...
To forces,
vast and cosmic..."
-So'lAurii, the Aurum Poet}
Aurashira: Well, that's ominous... That last line almost seemed like part of a toast...The next one's not so frightening, if you don't think about it too much.
{In terms of the sheer power held by the Eleven, what could be attributed and what could be described isn't something dragon language is equipped to do. They are majestic living black holes who, through the sheer inexplicable weight of their existence, warp the universe itself.
What can be described-magic, blood & flesh, the elements, ect- are merely byproducts. Specks of dust in a shockwave hardly aware of their mother supernova. Dragons, life, magic, it's all mortal fallout from the never-ending blast-event that IS the Eleven. However, should a piece of this fallout try returning to its point of origin, should a being decide to indulge in insanity and sip from the vein of god...well... The consequences can only be described as eldritch...
-Sol'Aurii}
Aurashira: Hmm...this is a mystery we'll have to solve quietly. The public-not to mention the gods* shivers*- might not take kindly to the nature of this research. A few trusted friends of mine are looking into our oldest & most protected tomes, and will meet with you soon to discuss our findings. Hopefully the results aren't as terrifying as these texts imply.

(Reblogging for my convenience, I want to finish/redo this animatic)
ALSO NOTE: Matthias' ghost sister was SCRAPPED as an idea for EggEater Lore a long time ago so...lets just ignore that part haha. No ghost sister. He's just a bad egg.
Matthias’ backstory has now been packaged into a neat little WIP animatic! I hope you enjoy!
Time to overexplain the story and maybe cringe a little, but  who cares ^^
Tumblr media
OK LET’S GO:
This is actually an unreliable narration from Matthias’ point of view. To him, he was only able to gain the trust and love of his Mother, while his Father and brother shunned him.  Overwhelmingly afraid to welcome another sibling into his home(and therefore another person that would inevitably hate him) Matthias, out of pure fear and impulse, ate his unhatched sibling. Upon doing so, he felt that he was not only undeserving of his Mother’s love, but also haunted by the murderous spirit of his sister.
In reality, Matthias’ family loved him completely. His father found Matthias, among other things, mercilessly pillaging birds’ nests to collect eggshells, and would scold him for such behavior. Matthias’ brother would argue constantly about the horrid things Matthias would say, sometimes to the point of desperation. His mother did love him unconditionally, but was extremely worried for his future. And finally, the ghostly apparition of the sister is entirely imaginary, and only serves to encourage Matthias’ habit of eggeating.

“NO YOU DON’T!!”
In response to this comic and @coatlscoatlseverywhere ‘s amazing meme skills, I present  Matthias about to face the wrath of God. Idk how I missed the mention, but I’m glad I found it!

IDEA What if there was a type of 'egg-eating in nature flight? But not the way others think or might fear. Parent wait till AFTER the baby hatches and settles. Then they may feed the plant bits to the baby? A way to gain valuable nutrients? The egg basically is a giant seed. Same with plague. The first real food a hatchling gets is the most valuable defense they get to survive in their infested wasteland.
Tumblr media
Blowing my mind right now with these connections!
Since the actual body of the dragon doesn't appear until the very last stages of incubation, it would make sense to have a 'yolk' that stores elemental energy beforehand. Looking at (very basic) seed anatomy there's a good amount of 'stored food' for the embryo, so maybe an elemental 'bud' could be found in nature eggs with a similar function. Great way to tie plant and animal concepts together!
I don't see why this bud couldn't be fed to hatchlings, especially when it's probably filled with residual energy and natural nutrients! Nature is resourceful, so this waste-not behavior fits perfectly!
Wonderful ask!

Character Portrait for the Webcomic! I thought a series of these would look cool at the beginning of the chapter, sort of a character index type deal. ^^ What do you guys think?
