Coronavirus gave me the opportunity to discover my other self - Efya Songwriter, Efya has expressed that while the COVID-19 pandemic came along with many negative effects, it gave her the opportunity to discover another part of herself she never paid attention to. She explained that for someone who had been travelling in and out of the country for the past 15 years, the COVID-19 period was “the first time in a year that I hadn’t left the country in the past 15 years or so”. Speaking at the #YHavoc Twitter Spaces session hosted by YFM, Efya shared that while a lot of shows were cancelled, the COVID-19 gave her the opportunity for self-reflection. She told YFM’s Winston on the Twitter Space: “It gave me the opportunity to go into myself and discover another side of myself. It made me stronger mentally because this was the first time in a year that I hadn’t left the country in the past 15 years or so. It was a lot of self-discovery for me.” The musician added that amid all that COVID-19 brought, she is grateful for her life and all those who continue to support her as well as the personal growth she has observed. “With everything that I went through, I’m just grateful for where I am now mentally, spiritually, physically. Also, because you know, a lot of people died,” she added. Efya is known for her many hit songs such as ‘One of Your Own’, Little Things’, ‘Best In Me’, among others. Among the many awards, she has won seven Ghana Music Awards, two City People Awards, a Best Female nomination at the 2014 MTV African Music Awards and an Artist Of The Decade nomination at the 2018 VGMAs. Swagger Entertainment, a party and marketing organization he founded, was also founded by him. He used this forum to publicize campus activities. When he was 23, he earned a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and returned to Nigeria. After that, he used his entrepreneurship expertise to launch an e-commerce company and even worked with Schlumberger for a short time. He has dabbled in a variety of industries, including soft drink importation, gold mining, and food delivery. Since an artist refused to turn up for the biggest party he tried to hold in 2014, he stopped being a show promoter. In July 2013, Mr. Eazi released his 13-track debut mixtape, About to Blow. Mr. Eazi collaborated with producers such as Magnom, Peeweezle, Klumonsta, Nshona, D'Tunes, and E-Kelly prior to the release of the mixtape. Mr. Eazi has appeared on songs by Stay Jay and Lousika, including "Baby Lace" and "Knockout." The mixtape "About to Blow" produced two hit songs, "Pipi Dance" and "Bankulize." Klu produced the mixtape, which was released within a week of its recording. DJ Juls was responsible for the hit song Bankulize. Pappy Kojo, a Ghanaian hiplife rapper, contributes vocals to the album. “Banku Music” was born with this record. Banku music, according to Mr. Eazi, is a combination of Ghanaian highlife and Nigerian chord patterns and progressions. In September 2016, Mr. Eazi officially launched the Bankulize remix, which featured African Giant Burna Kid. Bankulize was a dancehall success, and it helped Mr. Eazi gain popularity in the industry, along with the other tracks on the mixtape. Mr. Eazi released another dancehall-influenced single, "Skin Tight," in August 2015. DJ Juls recorded the single, which featured Ghanaian singer Efya on guest vocals. Nigerian rapper Cobhams Asuquo, DJ Caise, and Terry G, who collaborated with Mr. Eazi to release a version of the album, are among the artists and producers who have covered and remixed the hit song. In April 2017, Skin Tight was used in a commercial for the vodka brand Ciroc. Mr. Eazi was included in Eugy's 2016 hit single "Dance for Me," which was directed by Gabriella Kingsley and Vertex. Mr. Eazi collaborated with Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie on the R&B track "Anointing" on June 17, 2016, and the artist has continued to make hits on both collaboration and personal ventures since then. Following his appearance at the 2016 Ghana Music Awards, where Wizkid revealed that he had signed Mr. Eazi to his record label, there were rumors of a recording deal between Mr. Eazi and Starboy Entertainment. However, in a July 2017 interview with Star FM Ghana, Mr. Eazi clarified that he is not formally signed to Starboy and that he is just doing business with the imprint. On February 10, 2017, Life Is Eazi, Vol. 1 – Accra To Lagos is Mr. Eazi's second mixtape. The mixtape debuted at #4 on the Billboard World Albums chart, despite the fact that it was supposed to be released on February 11, 2017. There are 14 songs on the mixtape, including three bonus tracks. Tekno, Olamide, Phyno, Mugeez, Medikal, DJ Cuppy, Falz, and Big Lean were among the guest artists who contributed to the album. Maleek Berry, Young John, Masterkraft, and Legendury Beatz were responsible for the album's production. Pre-orders for the mixtape surpassed 200,000. On December 2, 2016, E-Kelly released the mixtape's first single, "Leg Over." The video for the song included celebrities such as Eddie Kadi, Maleek Berry, and Wizkid, and it sparked a slew of dance videos. Mr. Eazi hasn't shied away from making hits or spicing up partnerships up until this point. Coachella and Empawa Africa are two of the most anticipated events in 2019 in the United States. Mr. Eazi is one of the few Nigerian artists set to play at Coachella in 2019; his appearance was confirmed in January of that year. August of the same year. Mr. Eazi signed a record deal with Diplo's Crazy Decent label in March 2018, prior to his Coachella performance. He has reached a licensing agreement with Universal Africa, a Universal Music Group affiliate, shortly after. Mr. Eazi founded emPawa Africa, a non-profit organization dedicated to cultivating and promoting African rising stars. The program provides artists with a stage to perform and promote their talents, as well as funding options. Thirty artists will be participating in the first edition, and they will be eligible for a grant and mentorship to help them further their musical careers. Best of 2020: Ghana music
In 2020 I kept following new GH music closely, as usual, and hoping that there would be awesome songs that could go really far. Probably the biggest GH song of the last few years is still ‘Akwaaba’ (2018) by Guiltybeatz. And of course, Shatta Wale feature on ‘Already’ (2019) by Beyoncé was huge as well. Sadly, none of this year’s songs seemed to have that kind of impact. There were some good songs though. The most played GH songs of 2020 at our parties were most likely ‘Putuu’ by Stonebwoy, ‘Say Cheese’ by Kidi, ‘Nominate’ by Stonebwoy and ‘Fa Hooki Me’ by Sarkodie. Personally, some of my favorite artists were Fameye and Gyakie. Fameye released a pretty good album titled ‘Greater Than’ and Gyakie also released an EP titled ‘Seed’. Those two deserve more attention that they got! One of the most interesting moments in GH music was #BringBackAzonto. Or it could have been! It was spring 2020, we had lockdown, nightclubs were closed. Sarkodie released ‘Fa Hooki Me’ and people started talking about bringing back Azonto, and soon some other artists also made a few Azonto-style songs. Initially I was pretty excited about it and hoped that the ‘Azonto revival’ would become real, and that it would bring some new energy to the table. Sadly, it didn’t go far. Maybe the songs were not that good, maybe it was not pushed seriously. Will there be another opportunity for a real Azonto revival in the future? I hope so, because that sound was original. But it needs to be done well. There were a couple of other ‘retro’ moments too. Lord Paper and Bosom P-Yung released a ‘borga highlife’ style song ‘Asabone’ and it seemed to be popular in GH, at least for a moment. The beat was sampled from Daddy Lumba. Then there was also #BehindDaHitz: Instagram 'battles’ between producers like Appietus, Da Hammer and Jay Q. They went through their massive catalogue of tunes, which include some forgotten GH hiplife and GH hip hop classics. DJ Breezy also released a song titled ‘Vintage Flow’ featuring Tinny and others. That song was dope but seemed to go under the radar. 2020 was also the year of ‘Kumerica’ and the rise of GH drill. The good thing about is that they are rapping in their own languages. The biggest track of the genre was probably ‘Sore’. GHANA SONGS - 2020 1. Stonebwoy - Putuu Freestyle (Pray) 2. Stonebwoy feat. Keri Hilson - Nominate 3. Kidi - Say Cheese 4. Fameye feat. Kidi - 247 5. Sarkodie feat. Tulenkey - Fa Hooki Me  6. Kidi - Next Time I See You 7. Larruso - Gi Dem (+ remix)  8. Gyakie - Forever 9. Killbeatz, King Promise, Ofori Amponsah - Odo Nti 10. Kofi Kinaata - Behind The Scenes Other notable tracks: Lord Paper & Bosom P-Yung - Asabone Efya feat. Tiwa Savage - The One  Kofi Kinaata - Things Fall Apart Wendy Shay feat. Shatta Wale - H.I.T (Haters In Tears) Bosom P-Yung - Attaa Adwoa Yaw Tog feat. O'kenneth, City Boy, Reggie, JayBahd - Sore Dead Peepol & Rich Kent - Otan Hunu (+ remix) Fameye feat. M.anifest - Asem Gyakie - Vacation Gyakie - Nana Nyame Gyakie feat. Bisa Kdei - Sor Mi Mu Bisa Kdei feat. Sista Afia - Ofie Nipa Bisa Kdei feat. Gyakie - Sika Sista Afia feat. Fameye - Party Fameye feat. B4Bonah & AmakyeTheRapper - Unbreakable Mr Drew & Krymi feat. Sarkodie - Dw3 (+ remix) Kurl Songx feat. Medikal - Snapchat Kuami Eugene - Open Gate Medikal feat. King Promise - Odo Joey B feat. E.L & Pappy Kojo - Too Hot E.L feat. Sarkodie - Revival E.L - Azonto Gaza Strongman feat. DopeNation - Walahi Stonebwoy - Sobolo Stonebwoy - African Party Keche feat. Kuami Eugene - No Dulling Kuami Eugene, Shatta Wale & Samini - Ghana We Dey Kidi - Enjoyment Sarkodie - Bumper Tulenkey feat. Kelvyn Boy & Medikal - Ghetto Boy DJ Breezy feat. Tinny, Okra, Kwaw Kese, Dogo & Bollie - Vintage Flow Some of the most played Ghanaian songs were from 2017 ('Hosanna', 'Ayoo', 'Date Ur Fada') and even older: 'Adonai' (2014) and 'Go Higher' (2015). I personally tried to avoid playing 'Akwaaba' (2018) because it feels so overplayed. The most played 2019 song was probably 'Kpo K3k3'.  Did I miss some awesome song? Let me know!

Best of 2019: Ghana music
I’ll start my traditional “end-of-year” lists by listing the Ghanaian songs that were most relevant to me in 2019. I try to make all these lists based on how much I played the songs, what kind of impact they had and how much I liked them personally. Comparing 2019 to two previous years in GH music, I think there was a lack of real catchy, standout hit songs and club bangers that would make waves outside Ghana as well. In 2018, there was the club banger “Akwaaba” and also a few other big songs like “Do The Dance” and “Adiepena” - the songs that came out this year don’t really match those. The closest to “Akwaaba” was probably “Omo Ada” by Medikal, produced by Unkle Beatz. However, the biggest song featuring a GH artist was Beyoncé’s track “Already” which featured Shatta Wale. It would be on the top of my list if it counted as a Ghanaian song. The funny song of the year was “Daavi Neba” with Patapaa’s “Skopatumana”-verse. There were a few new names that got my attention in 2019: Fameye, J. Derobie and also Gyakie. I hope that we get awesome new songs from them and other GH artists in 2020. 2019 GH songs  1. Stonebwoy feat. Medikal, Darkovibes, KelvynBoy & Kwesi Arthur - Kpo K3k3 2. Medikal feat. Shatta Wale & Fella Makafui - Omo Ada (Remix) 3. Kwesi Arthur feat. Shatta Wale - African Girl 4. Stonebwoy feat. Teni - Ololo  5. Tulenkey feat. Eddie Khae - Proud Fvck Boys 6. J.Derobie feat. Mr. Eazi - Poverty  7. Shatta Wale - Melissa 8. DopeNation feat. DJ Enimoney & Olamide - Naami (Remix)   9. Medikal x Agbeshie - Wrowroho 10. Bisa Kdei feat. Fameye - Meka + King Promise & Wizkid - Tokyo Kofi Kinaata - Things Fall Apart Gyakie - Never Like This Sarkodie feat. Efya - Saara Shatta Wale - Borjor  DopeNation - Zanku  R2Bees - Yesterday Fameye - Mati Tulenkey feat. Quamina MP, Fameye & DJ Vyrusky - Goodnight Remix (Mada) Kawoula Biov feat. Patapaa - Daavi Neba KiDi - Gyal Dem Sugar Kwesi Arthur feat. Mr. Eazi - Nobody   Fameye - Nothing I Get Shaker feat. Joey B - Who Dey Eat Fameye feat. Sista Afia - Nobody Stonebwoy feat. Beenie Man - Shuga Kwamz & Flava feat. Medikal & Joey B - Shooooo (Remix) R2Bees feat. Wizkid - Straight From Mars King Promise feat. Kojo Antwi - Bra Kwesi Arthur - Porpi 2018 songs that stayed relevant in the parties 1. Guiltybeatz - Akwaaba 2. Eddie Khae - Do The Dance 3. Ebony feat. Brella - Hustle 4. KiDi - Adiepena 2017 songs that stayed relevant 1. Shatta Wale feat. Burna Boy - Hosanna 2. Ebony - Date Ur Fada 3. Shatta Wale - Ayoo

Weekends are for extreme moods, right? It’s either partying like a crazy animal or just lazying around all day, without lifting a finger throughout the day! For me, especially, there is no in-between. Also, I have noticed, as I grow older each year, I like the concept of partying at home than going out more and more. And fortunately, my friends’ circle is of the same opinion, so it’s always a win-win situation for me. But the one thing that we almost never seem to manage is the songs playlist for our house parties. And so, we did a little research and listed down some of the best songs that you too can play at your house parties. Read on to find out.
1. Party Rock Anthem, LMFAO ft. Lauren Bennett and GoonRock
2. What Is Love, Haddaway
3. Skintight, Mr. Eazi Ft. Efya
4. Congratulations, Post Malone Ft. Quavo
5. The Flute Song, Russ
6. Missin You Crazy, Russ
7. HUMBLE, Kendrick Lamar
8. Habits (Stay High), Tove Lo

New Post has been published on LivingVibes.com
New Post has been published on http://www.livingvibes.com/where-are-these-ghanaian-celebrities-who-have-lost-their-shine/
Where Are These Ghanaian Celebrities Who Have Lost Their Shine?
Samini, Tictac and Asem
Many of these celebrities have tried to make a comeback, but they are not actually accomplishing anything significant for the industry. When a celebrity hasn’t starred in an award-winning TV show or movie for a while or produced any good music, Ghanaians tend to forget about that celeb.
Even if the famous person tries to make a comeback, many entertainment bloggers would say that that star is only hanging around, but not actually accomplishing anything significant for the industry. Of course, it can be very difficult for a celebrity who was once an A-lister to come to the realization that they are not as famous as before. Many are therefore forced to do some crazy things just to get attention from the entertainment industry and former fans. But the thing is: they are just not going to make it like they used to.
Asem
Asem jumped on the music scene in 2007 with his famous hit track “Give Me Blow” produced by Richie of Lynx Entertainment. His style of rap was so appealing that he got the attention of many young people in the country and featured on many songs. However, his fame came to an abrupt end shortly after his controversial rape saga. He has since tried a comeback but it seems not to be working.
Irene Logan Her first major hit single was “Runaway” which featured Asem. She had before then won the maiden edition of “Stars of the Future” and recorded a joint album with second runner-up, Jane (now Efya). But after leaving Lynx Entertainment, Irene does not appear to be doing so well as her colleague, Efya in the music scene.
Eugene (Choirmaster)
Choirmaster of Praye fame and his wife Beverly Afaglo
Following the breakup of the group, Praye some four years ago, the leader and most visible member of the group Eugene Baah Boadu aka Choirmaster has struggled as a solo artist. He released songs like “Pull Him Down”, “Ghana’s Most Beautiful” and has also tried a couple of unsuccessful collaborations.
Tinny
Tictac and Fella Makafui
The ‘Makola kwakwe’ hitmaker was a trailblazer in his day with his stunning litany of songs and mastery of the stage. Then followed the dark days of anonymity. He has tried to stay relevant with a couple of decent songs but it is all too obvious his best days are behind him
Tic Tac
Tictac
The original boy wonder of Ghanaian hip hop. It seemed every song the Labone Sec alumni dropped was a chart topper. His unwillingness to adapt to the new generation has seen him fade into near obscurity.
Samini
Samini
The biggest music star in this country of the last decade has had a pretty tough couple of years. The emergence of several talents in the dancehall genre scene has affected his shine and where he was once the undisputed king of Ghanaian music, he is now part of the general population.
