The 2nd Date

I was really awkward, but of course did my best not to show it. We walked to Anodyne first, one of the local bars/pool hall. This was my first time at a bar and I had no clue what to order. He got a vodka tonic and me being me said I’ll have the same. We grabbed our drink and headed to the a pool table. He asked if I knew how to play and said, “ yah but I terrible” which was a lie. I was pretty good and have been playing since middle school.

He sighed with relief and said he was terrible too. We both laughed and began to play. I got the first ball in and was doing pretty well, and he was kind of struggling. I kind of felt bad and also insecure because what kind of guy wants to loose to a girl? So I started taking large gulps of my vodka tonic so I would be off my game. T worked and he won the first round. We started another round which he also won, and I did especially worse that time because of all the alcohol I consumed.

We then hit another bar down the street which was kind of an artsy scene. There we had our second drink and a snack. We sat, drew little pictures with crayons, and chatted for a bit. Once I was done with my ale I started to feel tipsy. No not tipsy, drink. You know that feeling between tipsy and drunk... yah that’s drink.

We walked to a night club called Effex for dancing and fun, and oh boy it was. Throughout the night he didn’t dare touch me, not once. That all changed when I grabbed his hand. The night club was drank and crowded, and me being drink was not good. I felt like I would either loose him or look like a drunk fool and fall over. I reached out and grabbed his hand for support and he held on to me tight.

He held onto me and lead me to the middle of the dance floor. He turned me around so that my back was against his chest, and his hands were wrapped around my waist. It took us a while to get into sync with each other because me being half Colombian I’m used to going to the beat and him being a white boy he was used to going at his own pace. Once we were in sync I started thinking. “Why is my back to him? Is my ponytail hitting him in the face? Why is there a grandma here?”

I made the confident decision to turn around, look him in the eyes, and wrap my arms around his neck. When I did he went in for a kiss. And my oh my what a kiss! We ended up making out right there on the dance floor for... I don’t even know how long! All I know is that it felt like time slowed down and that we were the only ones in the room. Even though it was crowded.

The anxiety struck when my mouth started going dry and I came back to reality. I could feel the other girls brushing against his back and I pushed them away. I started to feel dizzy, but didn’t want to stop kissing him. But I did. I pulled my head away and said I needed to sit down. He took me to the nearest couch and got us some water. I chugged my water and couldn’t stop smiling after. He asked if I was ok and I responded with “yah I just haven’t made out with a guy in a while” he laughed a said “me too.”

After some refreshing water we headed back onto the dance floor. This time we bumped into a few of his friends. We said hi and continued to dance. And of course he turned me so I was facing away from him and my back was against his chest. I tried to enjoy the dancing and the music but could stop thinking of kissing him.

At one point a guy tried to take me away from my date to dance with me but I refused. Later, a girl that I didn’t know tried to do the same thing. This encouraged me to turn around and dance with my date face to face. Once again, as I turned around he kissed me. And again it felt like we were the only ones there. I could feel his hands on my waist, and I used my Colombian genes. I could tell he liked it because he became more passionate. He pulled me close, slid one hand into my back pocket and the other lifting my shirt. I could feel his warm hand on my hip. I didn’t want this moment to end. I wanted it to last forever.
