I bought my cats drugs. 😎 So at the Otaku Flea Market at Colossal, I bought a catnip kick toy from @rainbowkitty_designs, and my girls LOVED it. The fabric is so beautiful, and the 'nip inside is A+. Rosa immediately went to town on it. She was even aggressively sniffing my suitcase for it shortly after I arrived home, and Edwin later swiped the bag for herself and destroyed it. Rosa has actually resumed playing with the toy as I write this (after a couple hours have elapsed), so I think it's a new favorite! Rainbow Kitty Designs does have an Etsy shop, so you can order your own catnip kicker for your little felines. They're great quality and only $5! Plus, they come in a lot of fun, geeky fabrics. Today is April Fool's Day, but it is also Edwin and Rosa's 9th birthday! I sometimes post about them here and share their antics more often in my IG story. Edwin and Rosa were both abandoned as kittens: Edwin at 2 days and Rosa at 3 weeks (same litter, just abandoned at different times), so I raised them. Now we're all pretty inseparable, as you can see in some of the photos. 😂 They can't figure out how to leave me alone. For newcomers, Edwin is the fat, goofy one, and Rosa is the little, creepy one. They are both female since I thought Edwin was a boy when she was an infant (for reasons I won't detail here). Rosa's face, y'all. HER FACE. I'm feeling a bit under the weather, so I thought I'd pet a cat while waiting for my drugs to kick in. Then Edwin happened. She obsessively has to suck this blanket (and only this one). I mentioned that quirk of hers when I streamed the other night. It's called woolsucking, and it can happen if a cat or dog is weaned too early. They will be 8 in April, and Edwin has done this since she was a few months old and never grew out of it. Rosa was weaned at the same time as Edwin, but she never developed this habit. As Edwin was abandoned at 2 days old, and Rosa was abandoned at 3 weeks old, Edwin never really nursed on a mother cat. As mentioned before, Edwin will only suck this blanket (it's the nicest one we have; years ago, she was content with polar fleece, but I guess she's too bougie for that now). Can we talk about how gorgeous Edwin is when she's not being a total freak? She's not an Egyptian Mau (that I know of), but darned if she doesn't look like one. Her sister, mother, and grandmother look the same, but the grandmother was a random stray my mom picked up at her school. Looks like I'm doing the thing where I'm busy and overwhelmed so I just don't post at all 🙃 Anyway, they had a bake sale at my church for Mother's Day, and the plate I bought came with a fake flower, so I stuck it on Rosa when she was too tired to care. Fun fact: while I dislike plants in general and have a deep loathing for gardening, the main reason I don't keep plants in my home is that Rosa is a gremlin and always eats them. Since I moved to IL, she has eaten a pot of garlic chives (that I actually grew myself under much duress), a bridal bouquet I caught (that made her sick 😤 ), and two palms from Palm Sunday. Yikes. So yeah, no more plants for me. (Vegetables and fruits don't count.
