Prince Edgar falling in love with someone but he wont say WHO even though he's next in line and NEEDS to have a partner to rule his kingdom. Not because of heir shit but uh. Traditions ig.

His friends (VAL) are tasked by Edgar's cousin, Princess Emma, with finding out who has stolen the prince's heart so Edgar can finally inherit the throne properly. God knows what the council is rubbing their grubby hands all over while Edgar isn't king yet

And they do! A commoner, nicknamed "Lucky," who doesnt look anything special until they find out that he makes Edgar smile. The prince's smile is usually smug or mocking, but with the young man who waits for him by the river, he smiles and looks at him like he hung the moon and stars

Theres a bit of a problem with Edgar's lover being a commoner, but then they quickly figure out the people. Wouldn't give a fuck. They'd be ecstatic honestly, finding out that someone who actually understands their struggles will take the seat next to the prince

The real problem is this: they're not lovers (yet, if Edgar has anything to say about it) (He's painted Lucky looking like fucking Aphrodite and gifted it only to be hit with "This is really sweet Edgar 🥰 You're a great FRIEND."). Somehow, despite hiding Lucky's existence for over a year, Edgar has made no progress on actually making the man swoon for him.

Another problem! Lucky doesn't know he's the prince.
