Ediz Hook in Port Angeles

We made a drive down to Ediz Hook to watch the sunset. It is this little jut of land off of Port Angeles (I like to say it An-gee-lees, but I am pretty sure that is the redneck pronunciation) where you can see seals, how they load logs for shipping, possible an orka and watch the sunset.

This brought up a discussion on the different types of water and land we have seen… what is the difference in a hook and a spit? How about a lagoon, bay, channel or a port. Is port actually a type of water or a place that boats dock?

1. Volunteer for causes I care about: 18 hours (goal: 25). 2. Camp under the stars: 9 days (goal: 12). 3. Finish more books, cover to cover: 5 books, 6 pending -_-; (goal: 12). 4. Reduce landfill waste: established new zero-waste routines (yay), but did not complete Plastic Free July. :( As 2017 draws to a close, I've been feeling an unusual amount of angst about not meeting my new year's resolutions. Maybe it's because we have a racist sexist climate change denier running the country. Or maybe it's because our public lands are under seige. Maybe it's because I moved up here for the opportunity to make a difference for students of color in a beautiful rural community and I constantly question if I am doing enough for them. Am I doing my best job? Am I living my best life? I've never felt more urgency to do more, care more, fight more. I've never felt more limited as a single individual to make the world different from what it is. This work is hard on the heart, but the *only* choice is to keep at it.
