There's this article in which the director of Persuasion 2022 expresses frustration over the fans' reaction to the trailer and here's two things that I have Opinions™ about:

The director said she grew up with Jane Austen's novels, and Persuasion is her favorite

She suspects "that the trailer possibly skews more towards that comic quality in the film."

So. You say you love the novel. That you grew up with it. That it was important to you to keep that longing and heartache, but where is that longing? Shouldn't that longing be woven into every scene? Shouldn't I get a taste of her heartache in my own chest? Where is it? Where's Anne? She's neglected, she's ignored - that is so central to her story that the narrative directly mimics it in the beginning! It's part of the reason why no one suspects the love story happening right in front of their salads! And yet here we are, with Louisa Musgrove noticing how often (or not) Anne looks at Captain Wentworth. In a story that is so dependent on looks, that is a big deal! That's not a simple bias of perception, suggested by a highly edited trailer, that is a fundamental change to the story itself. And that doesn't even include what you've done to Anne's character or the hair or the very much not friendship with Wentworth! You cannot change everything that makes Persuasion Persuasion and expect us to love your OOC fanfiction like it's the original thing! How is that so hard to understand?

(And "comic quality"? Darling, comic quality implies humour and quality. That trailer is Mr Collins in video form, and we all know it)

It fucking baffles me how there are antis in the Rick and Morty fandom. Why tf are you even here?? Have you even seen the show??? It's not exactly a wholesome fucking watch. Rick is the farthest thing from a good person, and Morty ain't exactly a sweet angel boy, either. Rick has quite literally destroyed civilizations (including his own), and both these mfs have killed a shit ton of people and aliens (some who did shit all to deserve it), but you're mad that people irl ship them?? Just shut the fuck up.

Nobody in this show is what's considered a good person. Nobody. They either have toxic traits, or are just straight up toxic af. But that's the fucking point. This show isn't meant to be Steven fucking Universe, ffs. It's an Adult Swim cartoon that's about an old alcoholic asshole of a scientist and his horny naive 14 year old grandson who go on or get sucked into dangerous adventures every episode. So if you're gonna be that pressed about people shipping them, or literally any other characters together, then maybe you should stop watching the show entirely, since everything that's said and done is SO far from being the "uwu I love my family and feel nothing but wholesome love for them" good morals that you fantasize every show and movie catering to.
