^ I was gonna reply directly to this comment but I don’t wanna start shit but I still feel the need to say, that isn't solely a catholic or even christian thing, most people like making the place that they spend their most spiritually significant moments in look nice. Buddhist and Hindu temples and mosques and synagogues are all filled with art too. Even pagans who woship in private like making their space look nice. You can criticize the wealth of the catholic church but to act like they're the only religion that gets a lil fancy with it is absurd. Also, protestants are just uniquely dedicated to making themselves miserable.
