if i sporadically change this list dont worry about it. i have more edgycute songs in my head for rusame but i have to be specific w caname or i DIE but then i just make things up anyways so whatever. i love close and sentimental things. so all these songs make a somwhat sweet image of caname?  just for fun lets do this: a few games i played in 2022 that i have a like steam library record of or something. bc my memory is bad. i’m 100% sure i played more games than this. Oh i found this in my drafts, forgot to edit and post, sure here you all go!

-umineko ep8 - im still rereading this. ow.

-disco elysium - i’ll keep trying from time to time and one day it’ll click with me. 

-bfd secret weapons dlc - i played part of this! i think it adds some really big improvements to the original game! ill let you know what i think of the new characters’ arcs later.

-needy streamer overload - indulgently edgycute. maybe a little too flippant about things to really seem like the sincere “social media hurts your mental health” game it wants you to believe? i would love to watch a 6 hour documentary on the translation and localization of this game. also the text is very small and game me a huge headache jmfvhnfchnfvhj

-huniepop - surprised me by the gameplay being fun and the music being chill, also surprised me by the game being like really really racist (YIKES). incredible to play as a girl MC because it changes nothing except pronouns (sometimes when it forgets you get some he/she lesbian swag), and so you come off as like, a horny guy who is a girl. the sex minigame is the only minigame where time limits matter and it makes it so that you cant even spare a second to look at the naked anime sprite, in some very funny irony. some of the voice acting is REALLY fun. 

-stanley parable DLC - just the two of us. :) when i told my friend i was playing this game she said “you really like stories about obsessive relationships, don’t you?”. well i do. i think the dlc is less of a parable and metaphor about work, free will, monotony, etc and more of a story about the relationships between the characters. i cant quite tell if i think its sillier because i’ve changed or the game’s tone’s changed.... anyway i love narrator’s cottagecore aesthetic

-return of the obra dinn -im in middle of this with a friend! i couldnt get through it alone but together its GREAT. scary scary scary game. aaaaaaaa

-psycholonials - i honestly can’t say whether i think this is “good” or not and i think id be eaten alive if i tried to pass judgement. i think it’s compelling. i immediately replayed it after finishing it. really really really enjoyable game. 

-ladykiller in a bind - i couldn’t get past the ‘telling ur brother about ur sex life’ gimmick i genuinely had to return it. i admitted defeat i literally couldnt put myself thru more. sorry if it was actually good later or smethng

-kiss off demo - idr it but steam says i played it. probbly i had fun!

20/10/21 - Work in progress - Ideation and Distilling Part 2

These are images I took of books in the library, we were sent to find books that link to the work we've done so far in the lesson and that we find intruiging...

I chose this book initially for the interesting cover and spine, but once I opened it I was intrigued by the different styles and colours, they reminded me of tim burton films and a series of unfortunate events, which I love.

Saylor, H., 2009. Edgycute. New York: Mark Batty.

I chose this book based on the plant illustrations, I love illustrating plants, and although these are more realistic compared to mine, they are similar to my illustrations so I knew I could draw inspiration from them.

Gill, R., 1990. The Thames and Hudson Manual of rendering with pen and ink. London: Thames and Hudson.

These are experimental illustrations I created inspired by the work in the books, the first is based on an Illustration in Edgycute, which was a different style for me but very fun, and the second is my usual Illustration style but with more drastic contrast and negative space, inspired by the foliage drawings in Pen and Ink.

I already knew I wanted to do Illustration in this project, but this exercise has solidified it for me. I've done witchcraft themed illustrations before (see below) but this has confirmed that I want to develop that.

I want to develop my tower drawings that I mostly did in 2018, which are some of my favourite pieces of work that I couldn't develop develop my fine art courses. I also started a character illustration project this summer that I didn't find the motivation to finish.

So my main focuses are towers, witchcraft illustration and characters, I'll start to develop ideas in these areas by doing a mindmap...

Next I will:

Stick in or redo mindmap

Moodboard (or leave space if I can't print)

Stick in and evaluate experiment drawings

Second mindmap focusing on towers, witchcraft and characters

Research spanning out from mindmap

Select object to bring to next lesson

Figure out how I'm presenting all my work between digital and physical
