This is the beginning of a wonderful little business. #ededdgaming is a venture into buying and selling #mtgcards. As we are very recently new, we are setting up media sites first, then setting up shop. Follow the misadventures of our business on tumblr. Getting off the ground.
It has been a slow week, as far as productivity goes. However, it is of little impact. Getting started in this venture is talking longer than expected but it's really due to my own over thinking and over planning. I don't want to spend money on processes and then have too much downtime. So, I will be using Amazon as the main store for buying and selling stock of the Magic cards that I come into. I also plan on attending and setting up shops at open events that are near me. Looking for cheap shipping possibilities has proven difficult...or rather tedious. I ordered one card from an Amazon shop and looked at it closely. Findings: I bought a card for $.60. The card shopped in First Class mail, which is $.49 I believe. The card arrived 5 days after I ordered it and weighted 16 oz. The packaging the card arrived in cost the company approximately $.25. This includes a hard plastic top loader sleeve. The envelope itself, and the shipping tag. So....around $.75-$1.00 to send me a card that is worth $.60. From my one order that company lost $.15-$.40 from one transaction. The question is now....how is this sustainable? How can I avoid this from happening? I will let you know. #Ededdgaming
