Ok so this is Tom's family, I headcanon that Toms parents turned into the objects they are right before having Tom, explaining why Tom is fine human, half bowling ball, half pineapple, the other girl is Tom's older cousin, don't have a name for her yet, but her and Tom were really close through-out his childhood.

Matthew Hargrove - brief history (EW! roomies)

Okay, guys.. I have to admit he’s my favorite character in both eddsworld as well as the Roomies AU.

His background with Edd started when he was very young. Their parents knew each other a bit, and they went to school together, forming a friendship as toddlers. Matt has never really been shy, so he made a lot of friends in his early years of school, but after a few sleepovers he was glad to call Edd his best friend.

Ever since he was about 14 or so, something clicked in him that made him realize he wasn’t quite as masculine as other boys. He definitely didn’t want to be a girl or anything like that, but he did start experimenting with how he presents himself depending on the day. His parents didn’t really mind. In his teens, figuring out himself, he came upon the realization that he was bisexual, or maybe even gay. Really, his first ever crush was Edd. That never really went anywhere.

It wasn’t until he was 17 that he met Tom. Tom was more-so one of Edd’s friends, and a surprisingly close one at that. Matt really liked Tom at first, even thinking they were extremely close friends at first, until he met Tom’s ruder side (when Tom drank, which was becoming increasingly common). The three started renting a house together when he turned 20. One day Matt just “realized” Edd and Tom were together. It sort of annoyed him, but it quickly became normal-ish.

Tord isn’t exactly close to Matt, but they did talk a bit before Tord moved in. They would chat online sometimes, mostly talking about movies and video games. Tord met Edd first, yes, but Matt felt like Tord and him had a sort of connection. Both of them were sort of snarky online and made fun of each other when they talked (in a friendly way). He sort of thinks Tord is cute in a .. nervous rat way?

While Matt is queer, his family doesn’t know. He isn’t “scared” to tell them, but they don’t exactly like change and he just doesn’t want to get into it. Part of him also just has a hard time acknowledgment his sexuality himself. It stems from confidence issues. Don’t get him wrong, he thinks he’s an absolute bombshell, but he worries he’s not as smart as everyone else.

I do need everyone in the fandom to know that having his friends continue Eddsworld was literally Edd's dying wish. Matt doesn't make the show for the fans, he makes it for Edd. Tom also didn't make the show for the fans, he made it for Edd. Edd didn't make the show in order to get fans, he made it cause he wanted to and then it happened to gather followers. Edd's sister and brother voice characters and his parents have the final say on everything that's produced. There's also animators and other VAs and comic artists and social media runners, Matt is not running the show all alone.

This is for anyone who thinks either that EW should just be left as it is without any new content or who has ever commented on something new with some version of 'Edd wouldnt want this' (which is my least favourite thing you could ever say to someone. I'm sure you know Edd better than all his irl friends and family, random internet user who likely wasn't born when the show started yet).

This is also not a personal attack or me claiming either of these make you an irredeemable bad person if you've done so. I also could not care less about Matt H either way, but I see so much hate on him all the time for seemingly no real reason (matt plushie uglier than tord plushie for real but nobody gave a fuck cause its not tord). There are also totally valid criticisms of the way the show is run, but I don't really ever see those, I only see people complaining about innocuous choices. This is also mostly about Twitter and Tiktok tbh cause those are hellscapes but it's here sometimes too.
