A historic #guitar from a great Canadian jazz player.
This 1965 #Telecaster, was owned and played by the late Toronto jazz legend, Ed Bickert. Just search "Ed Bickert" on YouTube to hear it in action.
Ed passed away in 2019 and @thetwelfthfret, Toronto, with whom he had a decades-long relationship, now has the privilege of presenting his iconic #Tele for sale on behalf of the Bickert family.
Some of the details that make this guitar so special, and personal to the man that owned it, are the Allen key on the pick guard (taped there by the Twelfth Fret so Ed would always know where it was!), the pick taped to the back just under the neck plate (just where Ed left it), and his last name in Dymo-Tape on the ashtray.
The guitar has been left exactly as it was when Ed last played it.
From the Twelfth Fret's website: "For many years, the late, world renowned Canadian jazz guitarist Ed Bickert used this mid-1965 blonde Fender Telecaster on countless sessions, club dates, and recordings. This guitar was his main instrument from 1965 until his retirement in 2000. Ed Bickert died on February 28, 2019.
This iconic guitar was not a stranger to The Twelfth Fret, as Ed Bickert was a customer and had The Twelfth Fret maintain and modify the guitar, adding a Gibson humbucking pickup in the neck position. As Ed used this guitar constantly, it periodically required refretting (Deebs' note: they guitar has been refretted as many as FOUR times!), and this work was performed by Grant and Russ Lackey at the original Twelfth Fret Repair Shop on Kingston Road.
This historic instrument is now available for sale. It is a #Fender Telecaster with blonde finish, dated to June 1965, and retains most of its original finish. The six-saddle bridge and Gibson humbucking pickup in the neck position are the non-original parts."
Please check the shop's website for full details and a video. And thank you to @moreguitar for allowing me the privilege to photograph it!

Ed Bickert – Bye Bye Baby (Full Album)
“The sophisticated guitar soloist Ed Bickert can be overly relaxed when playing with a trio, so it is a joy to hear him matched up on this quartet date with the driving swing pianist Dave McKenna. Their unaccompanied duet version of “Bye Bye Baby” is a delight. The other particularly memorable performances include “You’re In Love With Someone,” “Barbados,” “Nobody Else But Me” and “Things Are Getting Better.” Recommended.” – Scott Yanow/AllMusic.
