[ad_1] GG News Bureau Hyderabad, 19th Oct. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched a series of raids on Saturday at multiple locations in Andhra Pradesh, including the premises of former YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP and Telugu film producer M.V.V. Satyanarayana, in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to a land grab case. Officials reported that at least five sites in Visakhapatnam, including those of Satyanarayana and an associated auditor, are under scrutiny. Satyanarayana, who lost the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Visakhapatnam constituency while contesting on a YSRCP ticket, has produced numerous Telugu films. The money laundering investigation is based on a police FIR filed on June 22, alleging that Satyanarayana and others unlawfully acquired government land intended for constructing a residential facility for senior citizens and orphans. The complainant, Ch. Jagadeeswarudu, who, along with his wife, promoted Haigreeva Infratech Projects Ltd., claimed that the Andhra Pradesh government allocated them 12.51 cents of land in Yendada village in 2008 for the project. Jagadeeswarudu alleged that he engaged an auditor named G. Venkateswara Rao, who then introduced him to Satyanarayana and a man named Gadde Brahmaji for the development of the government-sanctioned project. In 2020, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed, but Jagadeeswarudu contended that their signatures were “fabricated” and that they were coerced into signing blank papers, leading to the alleged misappropriation of the documents. He described the situation as a “criminal conspiracy” to seize their land, stating that the accused had “threatened” them with severe consequences. The ED is currently investigating these allegations, prompting the ongoing searches. ED Conducts 25 Raids in Rajasthan in ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ Money Laundering Probe
ED Raids Rajasthan in ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’
As part of their money laundering inquiry into the Center’s “Jal Jeevan Mission” execution in the state set to hold elections, the Enforcement Directorate searched 25 locations throughout Rajasthan on Friday.
The Additional Chief Secretary’s office in the Public Health Engineering Department, Subodh Agarwal, is one of the locations targeted by the raids in the Congress-ruled state of Jaipur and Dausa.
Some engineers, contractors, and former state government officials whose properties are suspected of having connections to the affair are also being covered. The Prevention of Money Laundering Act’s (PMLA) guidelines are being followed when conducting the searches.
Similar raids were also conducted by the Enforcement Directorate in a number of Rajasthani cities on September 1.
The Rajasthan Police’s earlier First Information Report serves as the foundation for the ED’s money laundering probe.
In June of current year, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Lal Meena claimed that the central government’s “Jal Jeevan Mission” in Rajasthan was a ₹20,000 crore scam.
In 48 projects under the plan, he had claimed that two firms had been awarded tenders worth ₹900 crore on the basis of forged experience certificates.
Implemented by the Rajasthan Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ seeks to supply safe and sufficient drinking water through household tap connections.
In the meantime, the state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasara’s homes in Sikar and Jaipur’s capital city were raided by the ED last month. Vaibhav Gehlot, child of the state’s main priest Ashok Gehlot, was additionally brought in for cross examination in an Unfamiliar Trade The board Act (FEMA) issue.
The choice Congress rebuked the movement, examining the “timing,” “objective,” and “point” of the public government.

Former TMC MP K D Singh arrested by ED in money laundering case
NEW DELHI: K D Singh, founder of the Alchemist Group and former Trinamool member of Rajya Sabha, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday in a money laundering probe initiated in 2018. A special court in New Delhi has remanded him to three days of ED custody for custodial interrogation after the agency claimed that he was not cooperating with the investigation and was making contradictory statements. Singh was elected to Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand as a nominee of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha amid allegations of bribery, but soon crossed over to Trinamool Congress which made him in-charge of organisational affairs in the north. His switch to Mamata Banerjee’s outfit was facilitated by the fact that he was the lone JMM member of Rajya Sabha and, hence, immune from the disqualification proceedings laid down under the anti-defection law. He fell out with Mamata and was not re-nominated. He was once seen as a successful entrepreneur with interests ranging from media and real estate to frozen poultry where his Republic of Chicken soon became a leading name. The ED has been investigating Singh’s Alchemist group since 2018 for alleged money laundering and its case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) is based on an FIR registered by the Kolkata police. The anti money-laundering agency had in January 2019 attached the group’s properties worth Rs 239 crore in another case against Singh’s Alchemist Infra Realty Ltd, based on a SEBI prosecution complaint, In September 2019, ED officials carried out searches at 14 of his premises in Delhi and Chandigarh. Incidentally, ED’s action coincided with Mamata’s visit to New Delhi. The agency had then claimed it picked up digital documents and other evidence from Singh’s New Delhi residence that indicated circular transactions and huge investments in properties. The Kolkata police in its FIR had accused K D Singh, his son Karandeep Singh, Alchemist Township India Ltd, Alchemist Holdings Ltds and various other group companies and directors of cheating thousands of customers by falsely promising them high returns against investments in plots and flats. The ED said its own probe findings revealed that funds collected from the public were siphoned off to various other group entities. The banking transactions were layered through several shell companies to mislead the investigation. Various shell companies, replete with dummy directors, were created to launder these funds, the agency had said after the 2019 raids on his premises. When questioned by the ED, the “directors” denied having any idea about the transactions or the purpose for which the money was collected.

AND
2⃣ The arrest by ED of CC Thampi of Holiday Group & his 3 companies, Holiday City Centre, Holiday Properties and Holiday Bekal Resorts under Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 for an amount of Rs. 288 crores.
They both are interlinked. They both are the Benami Investors for the GANDHI FAMILY. Thampi is connected to arms dealers Sanjay Bhandari & Ravi Rishi who are also the Benami investor for the Gandhi family.
1⃣ Jyotsna Suri
Jyotsna Suri is the Chairperson and Managing Director of Bharat Hotels Limited, the Lalit Suri Hospitality Group (an enterprise of Bharat Hotels Ltd and one of the largest hospitality chains in India) with 17 five-star luxury hotels including one in London.
Jyotsna Suri is the benami investor for Sonia Gandhi/Dynasty. It’s a very old association going back to Rajiv Gandhi days.
Arun Jaitley was a good friend of Suris....so No raids till he was alive...!!
By the way “The Lalit Ashok” Bengaluru also belongs to the Gandhi family through her benami Ms. Jyotsna Suri, https://www.thelalit.com/management/
They also own a 5 – Star Hotel “The Lalit” in London https://www.thelalit.com/the-lalit-london/
During the UPA rule Sonia Gandhi & her entire family was travelling within India & abroad in an aircraft “Embraer Legacy 600 EMB” owned by Ms. Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson & Managing Director of The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group which is Gandhi family benami investment. The aircraft was purchased in July 2009 for Rs 120 crores for the specific purpose for use by Sonia Gandhi & her family including Italians (her mother, sister etc).
The interiors and the facilities provided in the aircraft were specifically designed according to the personal tastes, likings and comfort of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Robert Vadra & Priyanka Vadra. The dynast family thought it will be in power for ever.
Late husband of Ms. Jyotsna Suri was also made the Rajya Sabha MP by Rajiv Gandhi.

He is also the business partner of Robert Vadra.
Thampi is also linked to the Sunanda Pushkar murder case. Plot already known to agencies but now connecting the dots for successful prosecution. This will help the agencies join the dots to uncover the dirty plot and truth behind Sunanda murder. Sashi Tharoor did not kill his wife but he knows who the conspirators are. The details of conspiracy will shock one and all. The killers came from Dubai. Don’t understand how a husband can keep quiet.
Thampi is also linked to arms dealers Ravi Rishi & Sanjay Bhandari. Chidambaram helped Ravi Rishi & Sanjay Bhandari despite the warnings of Intelligence Bureau.
Sanjay Bhandari & Ravi Rishi are presently in London. CBI is on their trail. They will be brought back to India very soon.
The dynasty family has become very nervous and desperate now.
The dynasty family is trying all the tricks and resources at their command not only in India but all over the world to stop action against them. The Anti CAA manufactured violence in India was also a part of the dynasty tactics/strategy. But this is just the beginning for the dynasty family.
And Sonia Gandhi has already left for abroad after the arrest of CC Thampi.

via Today Bharat nbsp; But the Vokkaliga strongman may not have much time for state politics as he may be hounded by CBI and IT depts. Senior Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar after his release from Tihar Jail in New Delhi on Thursday. His brother and MP D.K. Suresh is seen.Bengaluru: The return of former minister D.K. Shivakumar to Bengaluru on Saturday after 50 days in judicial and Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody in Delhi in a money laundering case, is likely to charge party workers, whose morale is already high after the Congress' performance in the Maharashtra and Haryana assembly polls. While party insiders say it is too early to predict what effect his return will have on the coming Karnataka assembly by-elections in December, they believe he is likely to emerge stronger in the long run in party politics as he has demonstrated his loyalty by spurning the BJP's overtures at heavy personal cost. nbsp; Some believe he could prove a challenge to former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, whose hold on the state Congress has grown stronger with former Union minister Mallikarjun Kharge losing the parliamentary elections and the Income Tax raids on former Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwar's medical college. While Mr Siddaramaiah enjoys the support of former Congress president Rahul Gandhirsquo;s young turk brigade comprising of KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao, Krishna Byregowda and others, AICC interim president Sonia Gandhi reposed her faith in old Congress leaders in the recent Maharashtra and Haryana assembly polls. This is likely to continue in Karnataka with those who were sidelined over the last seven years being given more responsibilities, according to sources. Also, with JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and former chief minister H.D. Kumaraswamy gunning for Mr Siddaramaiah, the party may have to rely heavily on Mr Shivakumar, who is on good terms with both, to keep its former alliance partner in good humour and stop it from leaning the BJP way. But to his disadvantage, the former minister may not have much time for state politics or campaigning for the December 5 by-elections as if not the ED, he could be hounded by the CBI and income tax departments. The CBI has already registered an FIR against him in relation to some of his decisions as the state's energy minister and obtained the Yediyurappa government's permission to investigate him. Moreover, the ED on Friday filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Delhi High Court's decision to grant him bail, which is likely to come up for hearing on November 5 when the court reopens after a vacation. ...

Ramaphosa elected president of South Africa, vows anti-corruption fight

Ramaphosa elected president of South Africa, vows anti-corruption fight
CAPE TOWN (Reuters) – Cyril Ramaphosa was elected as South Africa’s president in a parliamentary vote on Thursday and pledged to tackle endemic corruption after scandal-ridden Jacob Zuma resigned on orders from the ruling African National Congress.
The road back to prosperity and self-respect under Ramaphosa, 65, who became ANC head in December, will be long and hard in a nation still polarized by race and inequality more than two decades after the end of white-minority rule.
Still, Zuma’s departure late on Wednesday provided evidence of the strength of South Africa’s democratic institutions, from the courts to the media and the constitution.
Ramaphosa, in brief remarks to parliament ahead of his first state of the nation address expected on Friday, said he would work hard “not to disappoint the people of South Africa”.
GRAPHIC – tmsnrt.rs/2o2wlJz
“The issues that you have raised, issues that have to do with corruption, issues of how we can straighten out our state-owned enterprises and how we deal with state capture (influence-peddling) are issues that are on our radar screen,” he said.
Ramaphosa was elected unopposed as Zuma’s permanent successor by parliament, and confirmed in the post by South African Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, who had earlier read out the former president’s resignation letter.
Ramaphosa was expected to be sworn in later on Thursday, and to make any changes to the cabinet after his address on Friday.
The rand, which has gained ground whenever Zuma ran into political turbulence, soared to a near three-year high against the dollar on word of his resignation.
South Africa’s main stock market index jumped nearly 4 percent and headed for its biggest one-day gain in more than two years as investors hailed Zuma’s exit after nine years in office rife with allegations of sleaze and mismanagement.
Ratings agency Moody’s said it was closely monitoring developments in South Africa, focusing on the policy implications of Zuma’s political demise.
The S&P Global agency said South Africa’s sovereign credit ratings and outlook will not be immediately affected by the change of the country’s leadership.
UPHILL CHALLENGE
Ramaphosa, who will be president until elections next year, faces an uphill battle to earn back public and investor support.
But his stated commitment to boosting growth and stamping out graft has gone down well with foreign investors and ANC members who felt Zuma’s handling of the economy could seriously damage the party in the 2019 election.
Africa’s most developed economy needs faster economic growth if it is to reduce high unemployment – currently at 27 percent – and alleviate persistent, widespread poverty that aggravates inequality and stokes instability.

The economy, Africa’s most advanced, remains largely under the control of whites who held power under apartheid.
The 75-year-old Zuma said in a 30-minute farewell address to the nation he disagreed with the way the ANC had thrust him toward an early exit after Ramaphosa replaced him as party president, but would accept its orders.
“Zuma did the right thing to resign. Yes, let’s see what Ramaphosa is having for us, thank you,” said Hlengiwe Mswazi, an office worker in the capital Pretoria.
Tshepo Kgobane, also in Pretoria, said: “So it is a good thing that he resigned. We must have a party, a big party, we must throw a party because he resigned. We wanted to see that.”
Zuma bowed out hours after police raided the luxury home of the Gupta family, the Indian-born billionaire allies of the former president who have been at the center of corruption accusations against Zuma and his circle for years.
Zuma and the Guptas have always denied wrongdoing.
GOING, GOING, GONE”
“Defiant in defeat” and “Going, Going, Gone” were among the newspaper headlines that captured Zuma’s unwillingness to leave.
“South Africa’s long nightmare is over,” read the headline from online political news website Daily Maverick.
Julius Malema, leader of the far-left Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), led his party in a mass walkout from parliament on Thursday, saying it would not take part in the election of a new president so as not to legitimize an ANC candidate.
The EFF, which has six percent of the seats in parliament, had sponsored a no-confidence motion in Zuma that would have gone ahead on Thursday had Zuma not jumped.
The foundation set up to guard the legacy of the late anti-apartheid icon and first black South African president Nelson Mandela said Zuma’s departure brought to an end “a painful era for the country”.
“One chapter in South Africa’s political soap opera has finally ended with the resignation last night of President Jacob Zuma,” NKC African Economics analysts wrote in a note.
“It would be gratifying to see the dedication and purpose the ANC put into ridding itself of Zuma now be directed into rebuilding the economy, dealing with the corruption still residing in the ANC and improving its shoddy governance record.”
South African police said officers had arrested eight people so far in its investigations into high-echelon influence-peddling revolving around the Gupta family.
Chief prosecutor Shaun Abrahams declared Ajay Gupta, one of the three Gupta brothers, a “fugitive from justice” after he failed to hand himself in. Abrahams provided no further details.
State broadcaster SABC said a Gupta family member was among those detained, while a senior judicial source said police were expected to arrest up to seven more people and that Gupta family members would be among them.
Police said the raid on the Gupta estate was in connection with a state-funded dairy farm, which prosecutors last month called a “scheme designed to defraud and steal”.

MVA govt can’t be intimidated by ED, CBI probes: Thackeray
MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has hit out at the BJP for indulging in “politics of vendetta” and said his Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government cannot be intimidated by the ED and the CBI probes. He said this in an interview to Sena MP Sanjay Raut, who is also the executive editor of the party mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, on the occasion of the MVA government completing a year in office on Saturday. “This government has the blessings of people and it cannot be intimidated by ED and CBI probes,” Thackeray said. “There is no end to vendetta politics. I am not in favour in taking this path. Stop this political perversity,” he said. His statement comes three days after the Enforcement Directorates (ED) conducted raids at the premises linked to Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik in Mumbai and neighbouring Thane in connection with a money-laundering case. The chief minister expressed confidence that his government comprising Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress will complete the next four years in office and said that it is up to the people to decide after that. Thackeray said NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Congress president Sonia Gandhi showed political courage to join hands with the Shiv Sena to form the MVA government last year. “Some people thought these three parties will not come together and that the Shiv Sena had no option but to go behind them,” he said without naming the BJP. The Shiv Sena and the BJP had contested the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections together, but the alliance fell apart after results following differences over sharing the chief ministerial post. The Shiv Sena, which won 56 seats, had said the two parties had reached such an understanding before the elections, a claim denied by the BJP. The Sena then joined hands with the NCP and the Congress to form the government. On the BJP’s claim that it would wrest the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) from the Shiv Sena in the 2022 civic polls, Thackeray said the BMC, which is controlled by his party, was a strong fortress of trust for the Sena. “Mumbaikars will not allow the fortress to crumble,” he said. Slamming the BJP out without naming it for targeting his son and state minister Aaditya Thackeray in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, he said, “When I am challenged, I am encouraged. Don’t misjudge my demeanor of composure and patience.” “Even you have families and children, and you are not clean. Not just me, but the people of the state will teach you a lesson,” Thackeray said. “Politicisation of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death was cheap politics…worse than perversity,” he said. He admitted that he had no experience of running a government and administration, but his family had a history of serving the people. “There is excellent cooperation from allies in running the administration. While presiding over cabinet meetings, what surprises me is that all colleagues from Congress and NCP give me so much respect, although we were political rivals till recently.” “There is no tightrope walk. We have gelled with each other very well. I was never under pressure of power. I had seen power from close, even though I had not experienced it,” he said. Replying to a query about him driving to Mantralaya (state secretariat) and his official bungalow ‘Varsha’ from his personal residence in Bandra, he said his feet were firmly on the ground. “The clutch, break, accelerator and the steering wheel are firmly in my hands,” he said. On the criticism that he had remained indoors during the pandemic, he said, “I am working from my office. If I had not ventured out, the Shiv Sena wouldn’t have grown. Even during the lockdown, investments worth crores of rupees were brought to the state.” Speaking on “love jihad”, a term used by BJP leaders to describe religious conversions in the guise of marriage, Thackeray asked whether the BJP’s alliances with parties and leaders of different ideologies like PDP, Chandrababu Naidu, Nitish Kumar and Ram Vilas Paswan weren’t “political love jihad”. Thackeray said that being in the government he got less time to spend with Shiv sainiks in the last one year. “Then there is coronavirus, due to which political gatherings are not allowed,” he said.

Fertilizer scam: ED raids Ashok Gehlot’s brother
JAIPUR: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted raids at the properties of Agrasen Gehlot, the elder brother of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, in connection with the fertilizer scam. Agrasen Gehlot is the owner of a company named Anupam Krishi, on which the Customs department has levied a penalty of Rs 7 crore for alleged violations of rules in exports. The ED also conducted searches at six places in Rajasthan, four in Gujarat, two in West Bengal, and one in New Delhi in connection with the scam, sources said. According to sources, raids also being conducted at the residence of former MP Badriram Jakhar. The BJP had earlier accused Agrasen Gehlot of being involved in a scam during the UPA regime and claimed that his company allegedly exported subsidised fertiliser. This comes at a time when the Rajasthan Congress is in crisis after simmering differences between Ashok Gehlot and his former deputy Sachin Pilot came to light. Rajasthan Assembly Speaker CP Joshi had sent disqualification notices to Pilot and 18 MLAs under the anti-defection law. However, the notice was challenged in the Rajasthan High Court and is pending order on July 24. Pilot was, on July 14, also sacked from the posts of Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister and state PCC president. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has blamed the BJP for attempting to destabilise the state government by poaching MLAs.

via Today Bharat A month ago, he was at the centre stage of national politics, making hectic efforts to prop-up a non-BJP government at the Centre. Today, with four of his Rajya Sabha members defecting to the BJP, Nara Chandrababu Naidu is staring at perhaps the biggest crisis of his political career. Till May 22, a day before the counting of votes, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief was shuttling between Delhi, Amaravati and other state capitals, using his political experience to cobble together an alliance as he was optimistic about chances of a non-BJP coalition taking shape at the Centre. The results were devastating for many regional players, hoping to play a crucial role in the formation of next government or at least emerge as kingmakers. For Naidu, it was a double whammy as he could not even retain power in his home turf. In its worst-ever poll performance, TDP finished with just 23 seats in 175-member Assembly. The massive majority secured by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha upset all calculations by Naidu at the Centre. The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) juggernaut in Andhra Pradesh bagged 22 parliamentary seats, leaving just three for thenbsp;TDP. With his friend-turned-foe Narendra Modi retaining power at the Centre and bete noire YS Jagan Mohan Reddy storming to power in the state, 69-year-old Naidu was staring the biggest challenge of his four-decade-long political career. Just as he was coming to terms with the new reality and was holidaying in Europe with his family members, came the shocking news of defections by four Rajya Sabha members of the TDP to the BJP. TDP MPs defection a ploy by Chandrababu What rattled Naidu is that his close confidantes YS Chowdary and C.M. Ramesh were among the four, who not only switched the loyalty but also requested Rajya Sabha Chairman to merge the TDP parliamentary party with the BJP in the upper House of Parliament. A shrewd politician, Naidu is known for his political master strokes. That's the reason, many of his rivals see in the defections by four Rajya Sabha members a ploy by Naidu. All the four Rajya Sabha members who joined BJP are businessmen and TDP leaders say they defected for their 'vested interests'. While YSRCP leaders claim that Naidu asked the MPs to join the party to save themselves in various cases opened against them by the Central agencies, others said that the TDP chief perhaps wants to mend fences with the saffron party. Political analysts say with the TDP out of power in Andhra and Modi back at the helm in Delhi, the MPs were not only looking to secure their political future but two of them also wanted to save their skin. Chowdary, who served as a minister of state in the Modi government till the TDP pulled out over the issue of special category status to the state, has been facing probes by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax for alleged for defrauding of banks by his firms. Chowdary denies the charges maintaining that his decision has nothing to do with the cases. Ramesh, another right-hand man of Naidu, too faced I-T raids with regard to the financial dealings by a company in which he is the director. TDP calls it a BJP conspiracy A group of TDP leaders even see anbsp;BJPnbsp;conspiracy in engineering the defections. Rammohan Rao alleged that the BJP and YSRCP are working in tandem to put the party in trouble. Since the YSRCP has 151 members in 175-member state Assembly, it is not keen on luring the TDP legislators. However, the BJP has gone aggressive. The TDP leaders suspect it may try to woo their remaining two MPs in the Rajya Sabha and the three Lok Sabha MPs. They alleged that BJP was also trying to woo the MLAs to deprive the TDP of the post of Leader of Opposition in state Assembly.(IANS)
