thinkin abt the elric brothers on this day
#finally finished the anime last night and i. love them#i love them refusing to take what would arguably be the Easier way out of the situation#like once they learn the secret of the philosophers stone they just decide that they dont need to use it to get their bodies back#and in the end when both ling and hohenheim offer their stones#ed is like //no it's our fault we lost our bodies. i promised al we wouldn't use the stone//#and instead he sends himself back through the portal to get al. gives up alchemy - his life's passion - in exchange for al's body and soul#bc really- he doesn't need his alchemy anymore. life's all about the people you love and care for!#ed gave his arm for a chance to save his brother in any capacity. al gave up his tether to the armor for ed's arm so ed could save everyone#and did it so bravely- trusting that ed would come back#and when ed does come back he sacrifices his alchemy#the story begins and ends with the sacrifices we make for the people we love and the strength that it takes#im in my feelings rn </3
