Liminal Amity Park

Danny is being crowned Ghost King soon. The entire town, as they are protected members of his Haunt, is invited. Danny has told his parents about him being Phantom, they set up a press conference for Phantom to tell the town they were invited.

This is an Amity that has come to terms with the fact the dead float along the streets. An Amity that realized around the time the town was pulled into another dimension that their lives were never going to be normal again. The Fenton's build a portal large enough for a tractor trailer to drive through in the center of the city that lets out in a newly formed town in what previously was the wasteland in front of Pariah's Keep. It's the new capital of the Ghost Zone and Phantom's Keep.

The newly formed ghost town and Amity essentially evolve together until they're essentially the same town but half of it is in another dimension. The human residents start to notice they're a bit more durable. Their eyes glow and teeth sharpen when angry. The realize they're ecto-contaminated.

So, to keep it from happening elsewhere, the Fenton's put a giant shield that filters out ectoplasm so it doesn't contaminate the air, water or ground outside of the bubble. They have a giant wall built around the city and distribution centers set up just outside of town so shipments can still be received so they don't run out of supplies.

There are shops in the newly dubbed Ghastburg that sell things thought lost to time. Dishes that people have only ever read about are available at little mom and pop shops run by ghosts whose obsession is cooking. Ghosts whose obsessions were collecting rare plants had seeds that they now could grow in Amity because the Ghost Zone didn't have proper sunlight. Fiber arts and blacksmithing techniques that died out now have new people learning them. A ghost with a similar obsession to Skulker but instead basically ran a zoo now has people they can infodump on about the rare or extinct species they have collected throughout the centuries.

Just, humans and ghosts thriving together and building a community and accepting that they are just a bit different and that's okay.

I really want to write a Danny Phantom dissection/vivisection fic (and the characters will decide if it's a vivisection or a dissection inside the story), as an excuse for ecto-biological exploration, in which we really learn everything about ghosts, and it's more about science than about the angst or whatever, and it has like, no ending, just infodumping about ghost anatomy, and anyone there will be like "is Danny dead?!" XD (But I don't have time, booooooo 😒 )

H(a)unted - Weird, angsty little Ghost Hunter Danny AU. Separate Danny and Phantom. ALT ending. I have some ideas percolating to continue off the alternate ending. The Hazards of Being Hot High AF - Shippy Popular Psychology (Jazz/Dash) oneshot I found in my fics folder. Jazz visits Dash in the hospital after a football injury. Elementary, My Dear Fenton - Ecto-Implosion fic. A goofy comedy-mystery where Danny and the trio try to track down who left an anonymous gift in his locker. They get WAY too into it.

WIPs:

Not So Bitter Reunions - AU, canon divergence, badger cereal. The college reunion goes decidedly less off the rails than in canon, leading to some nefarious consequences. I'm just kind of vibing with this one. High School's a Beach - **AGIT SPOILERS** Dan's in high school. This one is so very unserious, but I think I've got a few more chapters left in me. Needs Must (When the Devil Drives) - Canon divergence. AU. Vlad and Harriet reconnect at the college reunion, but since Vlad's technically an evil spirit, he's adversely impacted by things like salt, windchimes, running water, etc. Bad News (Vlad/Harriet) shipfic. I just...I think they're neat. Bearer of Bad News - Post Phantom Planet (not AGIT compliant). Bad News fic because I have an illness and these two live in my head rent free. The GIW enlist Harriet's help in preventing Ghost King Danny from destroying the earth.

DannyMay 2022 - I don't remember any of these being particularly good, but they do exist. I very much did not last the entire month. Drabble Dump from Tumblr asks - this is just what it sounds like. Though, in general, I'll probably start trying to post oneshots and/or collect the separate, individual Tumblr ask ficlets on this post now instead of just clumping them in a drabble dump on ao3. Monsters Don't Exist - horror vibes. AU. Vlad didn't peace out after the accident and he's keeping his enemies (Maddie and Jack) close. Jazz suspects their babysitter, Uncle Vlad, is more dangerous than everyone else in the family seems to think. Cheese Melt ficlet - Outsider POV. Dani has a parent-teacher interview. Cheese Melt ficlet #2 - Dani doesn't like the toy she got at Nasty Burger. Vlad gets her a new one. Badger cereal ficlet - No one knows AU. Quickies

Artificial soul that looks like a poloroid. Tether that clips soul to body is physical part of body. Soul can live without body but body will dust unless certain precautions taken.

Photography based abilities. Shown - Snapshot. Fingergun with left hand and snaps with right hand to create a "-graph" of something. Different graphs do different things.

Reverse eye lights -> usually fills socket with a ball of light with a variable pupil. Only has "normal" lights when terrified.

Bites his tongue when happy/excited/etc.

Trapped in the void for an extended period of time pictured lower right corner. Unable to summon chest-cavity flesh so took to holding self to feel more secure.

Usually summons ecto-flesh in chest cavity as a way to protect and keep soul from wiggling around. Fun fact: it goes away when unconscious but will come and go while dreaming.

Magic is meant to be grey w/ hints of blue/green. Sparkles/shimmers.

Fluff in coat is feathers / down feathers.

Has a bandana as a way to accessorize. Much of his fancier clothing here is gifted to him by his future SO. While doodling these I realized itd be fun if his bandana changed designed based on his emotions/feelings like Coffee (blackggggum). The standard is just bones (though he has a collection of different ones).

I love talking abt ectophobic materials and ectosignatures and ambient ectoradiation. Theres so many red squiggles on my fic docs bc theres so many words that i just. Slapped ecto in front of. Timothy Jackson Drake nee Fenton

Tim knows his family situation is… weird, when he thinks about it.

His baby brother (by five minutes) wasn’t a nicu baby, but he was. Aunt Janet took over his care in Gotham, while Danny clung to their mom and apparently tried to craw to Tim at any opportunity he could.

Tim did the same, according to Uncle Jack.

His dad and uncle having the same first name was weird, but Grandma Fenton blamed that on Aunt Janet’s business mindset and Jack Drake being content to let his wife run the show and be the arm candy in their relationship.

Danny and Tim know they’re alike.

By the time Tim was ‘safe’ to return to Illinois, Janet found out she can’t have kids due to an accident years ago, even though a surrogate like they’d been trying.

Mom and Dad had a long talk with Aunt Janet and Uncle Jack.

Uncle Jack suggested they keep Tim as their heir and raise him in Gotham while Tim and Danny and Jazz check in using video cameras daily to keep up their sibling bonding.

Mom and Dad hesitated, but Uncle Jack wore them down. Apparently paying for each kid’s college fund and helping out Mom and Dad with a government contract was the price for Tim’s custody.

On paper he’s a Fenton. But in Gotham they use the Drake name as he’s their heir.

He does have two legal family names. Makes it easier to stalk Batman.

Danny likes to talk about stars and circuits and whatever invention their parents let him look at the blueprints to. Tim liked to reas them and ask questions before showing Danny’s his best guess on various BatTech devices. They debated which grapple mechanism is being used and if they use wrists holds to minimize long term damage until Tim got one himself and showed it to Danny after becoming Robin.

Tim Drake is Robin and keeps the secret. Tim Fenton has no secrets with his siblings. Jazz would kill him if he tried, and Danny keeps toying with teleportation devices so they can see each other in person more often.

Tim’s civilian friends know about his twin, and he lets them argue with Danny about anything and everything. Bernard thought Danny was an AI program until Tim convinced them to fly up to see him.

Danny was nice until Bernard called their mom hot. Bernard learned the hard way Danny is Maddie’s SonTM and Tim mentions more creeps around their mom and sister for the last few months.

Tim hands him a handshake taser. Danny asks why they can’t stay with Tim more often and begins toying with it immediately.

Jazz sighs and the three continue to bounce off each other while their parents infodump on his friends about the various ecto-sciences.

Jazz and Tim compare notes on parenting tips, attachment styles and how to care for a severely depressed and violent individual.

Tim uses these while parenting Bruce with Alfred (when the man is up to it) and bullies Bruce into a semi-functional person. Enough he doesn’t have to worry about him killing someone—accidentally or on purpose—and dropped the excessive force (asking if Bruce was a cop in a disgusted tone and demanding he give reports explaining why his use of force and excessive force was Strictly Necessary and handing those off to the JL anonymously until Batman was forced into having his fellow heroes shadow him routinely even after he ‘graduated’ his anger management courses had Danny cackling. Jazz was just glad Tim wasn’t burning himself out to manage the Adult Vigilante alone.)

Danny booed Tim complaining about Superboy’s stupid everything and demanded he introduce him to Spoiler later.

Tim told him only if he managed to become a vigilante too.

Danny becomes Phantom a month into Tim forming Young Justice, and two months into dating Stephanie.

Danny only tells him when they’re alone and asks if Secret would have any clue on the ‘new powers every day’ management as he was starting to lose it over spontaneous power acquisition.

Tim called Young Justice and introduced them to his baby brother.

Kon didn’t believe it until Danny transformed back with a sheepish grin as “Fenton luck strikes again as Schrödinger’s boy strikes again!”

Tim smiled at the team as “Batman said i can’t out myself. No rule against my twin outing us both while he failed to see if i had more than one family name.”

His team lost it at that.

Danny and Greta began comparing notes while Bart was intent on seeing how fast Phantom could run. (Not fast) but did a lot better when he dropped tangibility while flying.

Tim had a picture of Kon coming in last while Danny and Bart tied (according to them. Bart won by a few milliseconds, but didnt take the win.)

Tim brought over his friends when he realized he missed Christmas dinner and his parents would still be arguing over Santa Claus’s existence.

“So, who wants to drag my twin into this and visit my mad scientist parents?”

Cassie allowed it.

Dad whooped at being right while Bart explained how Santa is a speedster… and Tim recruited his parents to help them drop off Darkseid’s coal.

Jazz re-organized the presents ruthlessly and made it so the presents were out by mid January.

Tim rightfully fears her. And is still certain if Jazz found Batman how he did, she would have had him on a schedule and less depressed in half the time. But 50/50 if she would have tied him to his bed to psycho-analyze him.

Danny did laugh at him almost becoming a Teen Dad before Tim reminded him Danny could count as one given the Dani situation.

If Tim began actively spreading rumors to avoid Vlad Masters in high society ranging from ‘killed the mother of his child’ (Dani enjoyed that one) to his daughter running away as Vlad was a controlling piece of shit, to he will actively try to steal your wife and your business?

Well, he is the evil twin raised in Gotham. And Dalvco’s stagnation was music to his ears.

Tim stayed at the Tower when Red Hood began and asked Danny if he could check the Zone for Robin’s ghost—not the egrigore—again. As it could be Jason Todd, or he may have skipped sleep for too many days.

Danny gave him his report after Jason wrote on the wall using a mix of paint and his blood. Danny handed him a few artifacts to manage it if Todd was a revenant. Mostly dead man chains that did calm him down when he managed to use them.

His fake uncle plan to avoid Bruce’s ‘formalize into the Legal Family and make my contingencies make sense to the public’ plan failed.

He agreed to stay in the penthouse as a ward to avoid leaving Gotham without a Robin. And to avoid starting over in Illinois as his friends live in decent distance of Gotham.

Danny complained he should have moved back home, and gotten away from Bernard, who has not made up for his disastrous introduction.

When Damian showed up, he and Danny debated if nepotism or Tim being Bruce’s second/third father would stop someone from de-Robin-ing him as everyone kept dying but not appearing in the Dead Areas of the Infinite Realms.

Aunt Janet and Uncle Jack being there helped somewhat. His dead ex girlfriend not being in any of them was concerning as one revenant was enough, but also Lazarus Pitts exist and was she a zombie like Grundy now? Kon and Bart vanishing was…

It was Bad for Tim, okay?

A green stickynote with ‘don’t worry, back within a year’ did not help much.

Danny clarified it was the same guy that helped him defeat and contain his evil future self, and dubbed himself the evil twin.

Tim began arguing his three evil selves made him the evil twin. It was. Nice, honestly. A welcome distraction.

Dealing with the battle for the cowl and telling Jason the Revenant ‘No, i will not be the Robin to your murder Batman. I am against killing as i am not a cop’ was a trip.

Catching the nepobaby in his suit was worse than abdominal bleeding.

Finding out his family was stuck between dimensions at the same time?

Only to get a ‘if you find a clue to where Bruce has been through time, i will help your family defeat Pariah Darhk’ on a separate sticky note…

Tim left Gotham in a rush, and only found out after that Dick told the hero community that Tim had some grief-madness from losing everyone so fast.

Tim made a note to inform his co-workers to butt out of his business.

He managed to find the first clue in an art muesum while being hunted by Ra’s al Ghul’s ninjas.

The glowing green sticky note confirmed it.

Keeping trained assassins from murdering people is a lot of work. He does manage to get attached to Pru, Z, and Owens.

Danny flies to him when they’re in the Cave, and he grabs Z and Owens’ ghost, promising to bring them back when they’re in the stabilize.

Tim lets Pru know once they’re alone. She almost cries when Tim shows her the video Danny sent of Owens running into a wall and screaming he was scammed out of his proper ghost powers. Danny reminding him in the ghost zone, he cannot walk through walls while Z was seen standing perpendicular to the floor and aiming a gun at someone off screen.

“My twin has it handled—not alive but he can stabilize them enough they can haunt you. Think you can follow me while we take down these stupid spiders?”

Pru accepted.

Tim broke his no kill rule. Possibly. He thinks they evacuated in time… probably.

Danny hasnt told him otherwise atleast.

And he would.

Tim did piss of Ra’s again by blocking the WE takeover and keeping all of Bruce’s loved ones alive. He should demand a raise for that while iced out of the hero community.

Kon and Bart were back at least.

He did get Danny’s help at the tail end of getting Bruce out of the Time Stream.

And once Bruce was reuniting with his family, Tim had Phantom being him home where the Fentons and YJ and his assassin trio were waiting.

He had a good rest and a party to celebrate.

His co-workers kept spamming him asking for location. Including his not-so-dead ex.

He left all but Cass’ on read. She knew he was with his family. He texted her he was home and taking a break.

The alarms for his Nest went off. Dani gleefully took to kicking out his coworkers and testing the ‘newbies’ (Owens and Z) on invisibility.

They won.

Once things settled down and Tim was informed he severely maimed but did not kill anyone (yet) he went back to work in his Neat, stalwartly ignoring his boundary-pushing co-workers. Jokes were for people who don’t fake die on him, and don’t isolate him from the hero community and do not try to maim him for fun.

He’d talk to Bruce to stop him from losing his mind, and Alfred to confirm Bruce was not off the deep end again.

Other than that, he stuck to his teams and family unless the JL needed him.

When one of his cases became relevant to a major case under the JL’s jurisdiction, he grudgingly went up to give them a presentation and hand over his file on it.

Danny catching him at the end was a pleasant surprise.

“Sup Bitch, mom and dad demand you at family game night. They need more non-liminals to join their team.”

“Game day or night, you know i work nights twerp.”

“Day—even Aunt Alicia’s coming up for this one. My team claimed your dead assassin buddies, and Pru came with us.”

“Oh you are trying to beat me at the evil twin thing again, huh? I’ll see how much of my team will come and we’ll beat your ass you little shit.”

“Up yours condom cowl! Oh, and here’s the fudge—got it before Dad and the ecto-weenies got to them. You’re welcome.”

“This is why you’re the good twin. How’s Jazz and Dani doing?”

“Jazz may kill her research professor, and i am supporting her.”

“Boo, grow a backbone and argue with her on why she shouldn’t.”

“Need i remind you, you worked with the spleen stealing bastard.”

“Only because his cult is atrocious and someone had to fix it. Plus your Clocky put me up to it.”

“Hey, i do not claim the guy who keeps evil me in soup time. I just avoid pissing him off enough to release him.”

“Rewrite the timeline like the rest of us you stupid slut.”

“Hey, i do not control the school deeming my dead body a legit snack, be glad i dont copy your son and become the town whore.”

“Like you would try��i have seen you and Val together your ghoulishness. You’ve been go e in her for ages. Is she joining team ‘Living a vida loca’ or ‘dead girl walking?’ For trivia?”

“Unfortunately i know she will choose your team just because her dad is coming this time and he likes to pick your brain.”

“What can i say, our aunt picked the tinier terror out of the two of us.”

“Red Robin,” cyborg interrupted, “not that finding out your secret lore isnt great, but how long have you two known each other?”

Tim grinned, slinging an arm around Danny as to pull him to his actual height. “We were wombmates, so conception.”

“Hey, we did get separated by the doctors and in-house adoption as frankly our aunt and uncle are great at pressuring our parents into letting them adopt this guy,” Danny pointed to Tim. “But we talk daily regardless. Like, adoption requirement was daily three hour calls for sibling time minimum.”

“Family that plays together stays together,” Tim confirmed.

“And Batman approves?”

“Ah, the problem nephew,” Danny sighed. “Red says he’s the Bat Nanny, so we don’t talk unless he’s touch and go. Then i get to throw his soul back into the body as i am not dealing with secondhand Battle for the Cowl Part Two.”

Cyborg choked as he tried not to laugh. “And do the other bats know?”

“If they fail at a simple background check, that’s my co-workers’ problem, not mine. Speaking of which, did you have time to look over the blueprints i showed you for a revised flight mechanism for my suit?”

“Got it, and the fashionista ghosts are having a field day. They also believe you need to drop the cowl condom and use helmet.”

“Aesthetics.”

“Death, dismemberment and double vision.”

“I will allow them to design. I will not guarantee use if it is not practical and aesthetic.”

“Excellent! See you later?”

“Yeah, Dani and Jazz have tonight’s joint call. You skipping?”

“Skulker gets to try to skin me and fail or he goes after endangered species again.”

“Bring Beanie with you—he is the master hacker between you two.”

“Not all of us can hack and be the pretty distraction at once when our opponent phases through walls.”

Tim blew a rapsberry before zetaing out.

Tim Drake’s Coworkers (ft. The Fenton Family)

It’s not that Tim doesn’t like the Batfamily. He tolerates them just fine. Damian is great for sparring (if you like sparring with a tiny murder machine), and Jason’s brand of dark humor isn’t too bad once you get used to it. Dick’s a bit too much sometimes, but overall? Fine. Totally fine.

But the thing is… they’re just his coworkers.

And it never really clicks for the Bats until Danny Phantom joins the Justice League and everything starts unraveling.

The revelation comes during a League meeting. They’re strategizing about some ghost-related chaos, and Danny floats into the Watchtower, bright and glowing.

“Oh, hey, Tim,” Danny greets casually, giving him a little wave.

Tim doesn’t even look up from his tablet. “Sup.”

Superman looks between them, confused. “…you two know each other?”

Danny grins. “yeah, he’s my brother.”

Dead silence.

“WHAT?!” Bruce’s bellow shakes the entire room.

Tim finally looks up, unfazed. “What? Did you think I just spawned into existence?”

“You have a brother?!” Clark sputters.

“Two siblings, actually,” Tim corrects, utterly nonchalant. “Danny’s the younger one. Jazz is the older one. She’s great. Super organized. Kept me alive in middle school.”

Bruce’s eye twitches. “Why—why am I only learning this now?”

Tim shrugs. “It didn’t seem relevant.”

“Relevant?” Diana repeats, incredulous. “You’re the brother of Danny Phantom and it’s not relevant?”

Danny, who’s been munching on some ectoplasm candy, jumps in: “Honestly, Tim’s always been kind of private about his personal life. We just figured it was his way of coping with the whole ‘raised-by-rich-neglectful-aunt’ thing.”

“Yeah, about that,” Tim interjects, glaring at Danny. “Thanks so much for dumping me with Aunt Janet, by the way.”

Danny shrugs sheepishly. “Mom and Dad panicked! They thought you’d get ghost-napped next!”

“Uh, correction: Aunt Janet left me to raise myself, so that plan was awesome.”

Bruce, trying to keep up, interrupts: “Hold on. Your parents left you with Janet Drake?”

“They didn’t know she sucked at raising kids,” Tim deadpans. “And to be fair, they did call. A lot. I just didn’t pick up.”

Jason, who has been cackling this entire time, leans forward. “Wait, wait, wait—so you’re telling me that the Replacement’s entire family is a bunch of ghost hunters?”

“Yup.” Danny pops the “p” with a grin.

“You’re kidding me,” Steph says, borderline hysterical.

Tim sighs, clearly over it. “Look, it’s not a big deal. Jazz keeps the parents in check, Danny handles the ghost stuff, and I… stay out of the way. It’s fine.”

“FINE?” Damian glares. “Drake, you’ve been fraternizing with ghost hunters while working with a vigilante group, and you think that’s fine?”

Tim raises an eyebrow. “Dami, chill. It’s not like it affects work. You’re my coworkers. They’re my family. Separate categories.”

Cue collective Batfamily malfunction.

Later, Danny is chilling in the Batcave, feet kicked up on the Batcomputer, chatting with Alfred. The rest of the Bats are still spiraling.

“Tim, we’ve lived together for years!” Dick exclaims, sounding genuinely hurt. “How are we only your coworkers?”

“You’re not my family,” Tim explains, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “Danny and Jazz are my family. You guys are my teammates. It’s different.”

Jason throws his head back, laughing. “Oh my god, Replacement, you’re stone cold.”

“I’m not cold,” Tim argues. “I just don’t think we need to make it more complicated than it is. We work together. That’s enough.”

Meanwhile, Danny is wiping tears of laughter off his face. “Oh man. Jazz is gonna love this.”

gordon becomes a half-ghost in the equivalent to the resonance cascade, except he’s most likely alone so that nobody knows at first. he has an electric core, and his natural ectoplasm colour is orange though when using electric-based powers it’ll turn green. (he/him)

benry is a full ghost, a shapeshifter-type ghost (like amorpho). if you ask how they died, he changes the story every time. he works at black mesa as a security guard, somehow. it’s very chaotic, but tommy tends to reign him in most of the time. benry’s ectoplasm colour is pink, i’m thinking (he/they/it)

coomer is pretty human, he’s a ghosthunter. he Was fully human, but eventually black mesa gives them the powerlimbs to make him a better ghosthunter, so he has some ectoplasm in those to power them (think valerie’s suit upgrade) (he/any)

bubby is an artificial half-ghost, likely with no second form. he was created by black mesa probably trying to reverse-engineer a ghost (without yknow, death), but they had to rely on human dna and thus creating a Ghost didn’t really work out. so he’s an unstable “halfa”; his core is fire and his ecto colour is probably his signature blue (think danielle) (he/them/bub)

tommy and gman are mostly human, i haen’t quite figured out why they’re not just Human tho. tommy befriends ghosts, is best friends with benry and knows he’s a ghost. he “fixes” a lot of the tech in black mesa so it doesn’t pick up benry’s ectosignature. (t- he/she/they) (g- he/it)

forzen is completely human. he works for the guys in white, who funds black mesa. his dp “equivalent” is gregor/elliot, but there’s like, lore stuff here. he used to be friends with benry (without knowing he was a ghost), but they had a friend-breakup once forz started working for the giw. (he/she)

darnold is also completely human, probably works with ectoplasm in some way. sorry i don’t have much here i’ve spent more time thinking about gordon and the science team;;;; (they/he)

it is 1am i am thinking about silence and vlad

I havent talked about the time WHILE they actually worked together pre-timeskip at all because it’s all very nebulous in my head but I don’t like that. Silence is VERY enthusiastic abt the concept of a halfa. Even if Vlad doesn’t want to go into detail at first about “how he died” *, Silence is JUST as interested in what his powers are and their apparent ability to change over time. Vlad instinctively likes the positive reinforcement, especially as a direct mirror and counter to his experiences being picked apart and scrutinized constantly in a stressful way because of his ecto-acne.

*which, I’m not even sure if he wouldn’t? It’s difficult to tell because we don’t really see him have any personal interactions with non-Fentons. Does he monologue at the Fentons because he thinks THEY specifically ought to know, or is he just a habitual infodumper to anyone who will listen? I honestly feel like it’s a mix, but it’s difficult to pin down how much of which, and when. It would REALLY help if I had the patience to rewatch more than a few episode at a time.

If Silence DOES need to talk Vlad into sharing details about his life and Ghostly Fixation(tm), she does so by explaining to him that it could be the key to better understanding and therefore better utilizing his powers, and he’ll never be able to navigate her heinous volumes of reference material in a timely enough fashion to figure it out himself. I made up most of this paragraph as I went along and this is such a good positive-relationship-development shaped slot that I think this, or at least a similar teamwork situation, HAS to work. I have some emotion-driven ghost power mechanics to define the logistics of I guess.

York is the general dad friend (the other is North) and acted so with Arizona even before he was revealed to be a teenager. If anything, York just became a bit more strict and like an actual dad to Zone. as mentioned b4, Zone was shyer, which meant he was NOT immune to teasing by everyone, and this includes York. a common phrase used by York was “he’s not a lover, he’s a biter” followed by Zone making biting noises.

during the time after CT died and while Zone wasnt interacting, he would attempt to talk to Zone, but eventually just ended up sitting by him. Zone would eventually lean on him whenever he came in.

the first time Arizona saw York’s ghost was just before he jumped into the water to try and save Maine. York tried to get him to not jump in, scaring and making Zone pause on the count of holy fucking shit my dad is dead, but he went in anyway. when he was dragged out by the UNSC and put under hypothermia watch, he was chewed out by York. Zone says nothing until York is done, only saying a very quiet: “i’m sorry.” 

Grabbing his armor and getting out of the UNSC medic tent, Zone stared making his way back to Valhalla, York guiding him back. Zone was more violent upon him getting out of the UNSC camp, killing damn near everyone there out of pure anger, as well as MANY other emotions.

from Zone’s toyhouse: York was pretty quick to welcome Arizona when he first arrived and ended up reining Zone in when he was being a bit too chaotic. Zone and York didn't go on too many missions together, but when they did, they were super effective. When Zone found out that he was dead, he was devastated, going into a similar state to when C.T. died, but more violent -as it was Wyoming who killed him- and felt like a failure for not killing Wyoming before when he had the chance.

SO. Agent Connecticut! his mom (he considers her to be like his mom)! design wise, completely unintentional that they both style their hair to cover the right side of their face, but hey it works out :D

when it was revealed Zone was, in fact, NOT an adult, it was frequently brought up that he looked similar to two Freelancers, York and CT. it made things somewhat awkward between Zone and CT. during PFL (esp b4 the break in) Zone was more shy and stuck with Maine, but still very much a little shithead fucks around and finds out. CT

CT goes on missions with Zone to get her rank up on the leaderboard, but does warm up to him after a bit, and they eventually do form some kind of mother-son bond (even if CT is 5’4 and Zone is 5’8 and she has to look up at him a bit). CT and Zone get closer, and Zone eventually tells her that he doesnt trust the Director, even after hes given him his position as an Agent, and tells her that he sees ghosts in the places he’s been. this makes CT go “oh shit”. CT vaguely mentions what will eventually happen in S10 EP2 (her defecting), but doesnt tell him a lot because he’s still pretty close with a good chunk of Freelancers that would absolutely rat her out.

CT defects to the Insurrection. Zone is in denial because, well yes he was somewhat warned, he didnt expect it- plus his mom just fucking left without a hint**.

during the planning of the shipyard mission, he was interrogated by the Director and Counselor to see if CT has told him anything (she hadnt). he wasnt allowed to go on the shipyard mission due to the fact that he would have either joined CT or would let her and the Insurrection Leader to escape.

Zone finds out that Connecticut died. he does not interact with anyone other than Maine and Sigma and blames the Director fully for CT’s death. break-in comes, and Sigma requests Arizona to stay with him and Maine until he successfully gets ahold of Iota and Eta.

(quick note AZ hasnt aged much bc he fucked-around-and-found-out with Wyoming after taking on the Variagrade title, going after Gamma. he got smacked and Wyoming used his damaged-from-an-ambush time distortion and got him stuck as a teenager. he hates it.)

CT’s ghost eventually finds Zone, who reacts with a multitude of emotions, mainly anger and sadness. he was mad she hasnt found him any time before he was the Variagrade, sad that she hadn’t found him until now, yet happy that she had found him. he lets her stay around him, but is a bit resentful, and tries not to show it.

fun bonus fact: CT used to help cut Zone’s hair during PFL . it got longer after she died and during his time with the Meta. Donut, another ghost-seer, currently helps him with tips from CT.

from Zone's toyhouse: C.T. was wary of Arizona at first, but eventually started warming up to him after they began going on missions with each other. C.T. and Zone formed a mother-son relationship, and ended up sharing the idea of bad the Director was. Zone was in denial when she defected, then when C.T. dies, he doesn't interact with anyone other than Maine and Sigma, fully blaming the Director for Connecticut's death.

*AZ, Wash, Donut, and a few other characters can see ghosts. wash spec bc he seems like he doesnt believe in ghosts >:)

**CT knew Maine and other Agents that Arizona was close to would most likely come to hunt them down twice as much, especially with Zone’s enhancements and his status as the resident homicidal teen

PERSONALITY TIME. k. so Agent Arizona B here is a bit emotionally underdeveloped. he doesnt remember anything before the Labyrinth Archives- he lived there for a couple of years at least, which only had worker robots and the occasional hostile pest- and had to relearn some things. he’s introverted, shy (he was WAY more shy during PFL, but slowly gained confidence), and aggressive, especially after the Meta. he was often compared to the (then MIA, but announced KIA) former Agent Arizona by the Director and a few other Freelancers.

he’s self-destructive, stubborn, and a perfectionist. he’s also willing to change, as he joins the Red Team on Chorus and sees himself relaxing more before joining the Rebels. he can go from calmly reading to racing someone if he feels up for it. he’s sarcastic, sassy, and kind of an asshole, but he means well. he’s fairly vengeful, and gets quiet when he’s super mad. on some Freelancer missions where he was particlarly pissed so he said fuck it we ball and managed to get shot but complete the missions (still got points deducted for recklessness; he calls it blind courage)

plz feel free to ask abt other characters relationships with him or anythin else

Tim has been sitting on the couch for half an hour, seemingly processing that bit of knowledge.

“What-“ Danny’s eyes snap to his Beloved from where he had returned to the kitchen. Tim was watching him wearily.

His Beloved shouldn’t be looking at him like that. He failed. He’s failing his Beloved.

“What happened? The full story.” Danny sighs, nodding.

“I’ll tell you while you eat. You’re probably starving.” As if on cue, Tim’s stomach growls like Cujo being held from his toy.

Danny brings over a large plate of food, one he reserves for when he’s especially exhausted.

“

I’ll start with what I am: a halfa. I don’t think they exist here, in this dimension, but I guess they do now.” A bitter laugh pushes its way past his lips. Tim is vaguely aware of a displeased humming and the urge to fix it.

“A halfa is the term for half ghost-half human. In theory, they could be non-human, but I haven’t heard of it happening. You are now a part of this tiny group. As in I can count the entire group on one hand, tiny.”

Tim doesn’t respond verbally, but Danny knows he’s anxious; his core is practically shaking.

“I didn’t want this to happen. I- I shouldn’t have gotten attached. I never meant to. And then you strutted into my fuckin’ life like a ball of stardust, and I couldn’t help myself. I got attached, and on a patrol as Phantom, I saw you.

I didn’t know it was you, truly. You felt familiar and when you were bleeding out, I figured I should check before you fully died. At least for closure. And then it was you.

I don’t know if I would have saved anyone else like how I saved you. I practically punted Red Hood away from you when he was trying to interrogate me. All I knew was that my Beloved was hurt, and that he was a potential threat.

I’m sorry. It’s understandable if you never want to see me. I get it if you need me to turn myself into Batman. I get it. Just make your judgement and express it.”

He doesn’t look at Tim. He can’t look at his Beloved and risk his disgust; can’t risk his hatred. Technically, Beloveds can be dropped, but they’re painful. They burn, and since part of Danny will be part of Tim, it’ll likely hurt more.

Nothing is heard except for chewing and cores humming. It takes all of Danny’s self-control to not leave the room or ask questions.

“You-“ Danny jolts at the faint hints of softness in the hesitancy. “You mentioned ghosts. Mind explaining more?”

There’s a couple types of ghosts: the neverborns, the soulborns, and the imprints.

Danny nods. He can talk about those. He can do that for his Beloved.

“Ghosts are made from ectoplasm. The best comparison I have for it is carbon; humans are made of carbon, but they also need it to survive. That’s how it is with ghosts, we need it to survive but it also is what we’re made of.

Neverborns are what it says on the tin; they weren’t alive. They’re made from concepts like time, nature, Halloween, that kind of thing.

Soulborns were once alive, and are what most people are familiar with. They can remember who they were, but most choose not to. That’s most of why you never ask about how we died; it’s basically asking about their biggest and most painful trauma.

Imprints are the ones who have the lowest ecto-levels. They don’t have sentience further than what you picture an animal to have.

Soulborns also have Obsessions. They are basically the reason you’re around and they can vary from being known to protection to keeping a school’s lunch menu the same. It usually ties with who you were or your death. That also makes it sensitive to ask about.

You probably have an Obsession or will soon. Your core will basically make you for a bit while you’re getting used to it. Uh, cores are basically the only true organ of ghosts. Think a soul, but everything else can regenerate except said soul.”

Danny’s infodump was definitely fueled by years of being in a house with the Drs Fenton.

Tim takes a breath, the clink of the fork being rested on his plate breaking the tentative silence.

“First, thank you.” Danny’s head snaps up to meet Tim’s eyes. There’s a small smile resting on his Beloved’s face. That’s better. He’s doing good!

“Thank you for saving me, and thank you for taking care of me afterward. You took the time to care for me and explain the basics of what’s to come. Thank you. Second, I don’t want you to leave, and not only because you have information. I like you. I want to be around you. I would like if we spent more time together, maybe even as boyfriends.”

A trill pushes out of Danny, his core audibly humming in joy. The trill causes Tim’s own chirp to fall out, catching him off guard.

“You- you mean it? You don’t hate me?” Tim snorts.

“I don’t think I could. Also, what’s up with Beloved?” Danny freezes, a red coating his face and dusting the tips of his ears.

“Uh- it’s basically a ghost version of a mate? Like, you would have known that I was ‘courting’ you if you had been a ghost, but since you weren’t, it was just odd and only possible because I’m a halfa. You can deny it, but it’s pretty…uncomfortable.”

Tim’s raised eyebrow proves that he knows it’d be more than just ‘uncomfortable’. Danny vaguely gestures to the area next to Tim on the couch, silently asking to cuddle.

Tim nods, an adoring smile on his face.

Across the city, Red Hood teams with Batman to find Red Robin. Batman has Phantom recategorized as a threat.

DP x DC prompt/story where, after falling through a portal in the Ghost Zone, Danny winds up in the heart of Gotham.

Danny knows right away that he’s in a different universe. The air feels… different. There’s some ectoplasm, but it feels foreign and wrong. Like hearing your voice through a recording.

Danny quickly tries to figure out how different this universe is to his own. He finds a newspaper and the articles he reads make his brows furrow together in puzzlement. Apparently superheroes and vigilantes are commonplace in this world. This city. He’s not sure how to feel about that.

He learns the city is called Gotham– and quickly realizes just how dangerous it is. Danny has been in the city for less than thirty minutes when a man tries to mug him. He manages to slip away uninjured, but Danny is exhausted from exploring the GZ earlier that day. He finds an abandoned building to hunker down in for the night. 

It’s not until the next day when Danny’s predicament really settles in. He is lost in a dangerous city– in a different universe– and he has no idea how to get home… or if he even can.

ok, so yeah. stephanie is a little suspicious of fenton now. it's freaky everything fenton had access to.

so, what better idea than to invite the guy over to wayne manor so they could work together there? (tim and bruce would be able to get a good face scan, maybe some dna, or even more scans than that)

danny seems amenable to the idea, happily agreeing when she asks him.

when the day comes, bruce and tim are ready in the cave, all the instruments of scanning are set up imperceptibly in the manor.

danny arrives... on foot.

this guy walked here, all the way up to the top of bristol, and he didn't look too tired at all.

steph welcomes the guy at the door (after he walks all the way up the ridiculously long driveway) and danny looks genuinely happy to see her.

they quickly get to work on the assignment. danny isn't the best technical writer, but he has a lot of good ideas and concepts.

he also, apparently, has a lot of feelings about ghosts.

steph listens as the guys rambles on about the unfair treatment ghosts receive, the misconceptions of their nature, the misunderstanding of their biology and how it affects their behavior. steph has no idea how this guy knows so much- at this point it feels like he's venting as much as he is infodumping.

and then danny hits her with the sucker punch (metaphorically).

he tells her about the "anti-ecto acts".

every word he says makes the shock and chill sink into her bones.

as she processes everything he's saying, he rambles on, "and nobody even cares, it's crazy- just because ghosts aren't human doesn't mean they don't deserve the same treatment!"

"danny," steph interrupts, horror showing clearly on her face, "tell me you're lying. tell me that's not true. tell me you are making this up."

danny looks at her baffled, "no?? it's easy information to find, what are you talking about? the anti-ecto act was signed into law in 1999, when i was 9. it's not relevant anywhere without a portal or super high levels of ambecto, but it's still there."

"danny, i tried to look up ghosts and i almost got on a watchlist."

danny gives steph the most confused look before his eyes narrow. "you're fucking with me. this is some sort of prank." danny's face shifts into something hurt and disappointed. he stands up from the couch while stephanie continues to try and comprehend what's going on here.

"i really thought you were cool, stephanie. im... a bit sad you aren't who i thought you were."

"wait! danny," steph says, jumping into action. "danny, i swear on my life i'm not trying to prank you. i genuinely don't know what you're talking about!"

danny sighs. "stephanie, i've been through this a million times before. the bully gaslights me, makes me think i'm crazy, i'm going crazy, i'm stupid and gullible. i'm not going to let you get through your whole prank." danny turns fully to steph now, and the look on his face is... tired. exhausted. sad. "i just want to know why. why do you want to do this? what about me makes me a good victim this time? am i lame? cringe? weird? have people discovered my parents? am i skinny, feminine? what is it this time, stephanie?"

steph... doesn't know how to respond to that.

"i'm not lying danny. i swear. i think you're a really cool guy- i'm surprised to hear that you wanted to be my friend. i want to be your friend too, but I genuinely am not lying when i say that i don't know about the anti-ecto acts. i can bring in people who have never known you to corroborate my story."

danny stares at her, an unreadable look on his face.

"okay, stephanie. you get one chance."
