At first, it was great. The battery did exactly what it needed to do and gave off no heat. It was as close to 100% efficiency as it could get - certainly a lot closer than any battery they'd come across before.

"Kinda? How can you be kinda a battery?" Batman asked.

"it's weird to hear you say 'kinda'," Green Lantern said.

Twenty bursts - eighteen - one - sixteen - sixteen - five - four.

"You're trapped?" Superman asked.

The lights went off for another half-second. Yes.

It was agonizingly slow, but they hammered out a plan. Superman and Green Lantern would remain to remove the battery and free the one who had been trapped; those who couldn't survive the crushing pressure of zero atmosphere would evacuate to earth and start shaking down the Department of Defense for answers.

When they found out the battery had been powered by the soul of a dead child, the Ghost Investigation Ward did not survive long.

31MAR2022: a good day as I carefully watched the weather, both accuweather & local commentary. My plans are to depart early tomorrow, cycle 50miles/80kms South to MP270 for a night at Freebornes. I just spoke with the owner, who indicated plenty of room during this out of season. I also visited with Darell again, who motored me to the Dollar General store so I could buy rations for tomorrow’s cycling. It’ll be great—provided my eBatteries can sustain the long distance! 30MAR2022 [1/2]: I’m grateful it’s not raining on this overcast/windy Wednesday! Bruce saw me off after we hiked their gravel road to pavement. Within 2miles/3kms, I was Gimpwalking walking my FrankenBike up a STEEP section of Burnett Road, feeling disenchanted with myself due to another very late start. But, after hot soup in Meadows of Dan, I got underway on this rolling Parkway. The terrain dies sap the eBatteries—I swapped in a fresh one after ~15miles/24kms. Despite my poor attitude, a Good Samaritan (Darren) had seen my green tool bag fall to the roadway. He retrieved it for me, then told me about his own personal cycling experiences which were extremely positive—strangers often help whenever possible, and Darren certainly did that for me!
