Today is essentially the biggest day of the year for us...we ship our calves and get our "once-a-year" paycheck. We are blessed to do what we love...and as most cattle ranchers do, we hold our breath as we take that check to the bank so we can continue our way of life. One thing I know...we may not be rolling in money, but there's no other life that I'd rather live. This life gives us wealth in so many other ways...in ways that I feel are more important. As I often say....the little things are the BIG things...and I'm dang glad to have been blessed into 5 generations of putting Beef on American's tables. We are also raising the 5th generation...I'm so proud to pass this legacy down to him. This is much bigger than a "job" to any of us. The next time you pass the meat department at the grocery store please think about all of the long hours, hard work, blood, sweat, and tears that have gone into getting it there. Until you've lived the life you truly have no idea what it takes. I think that's why we have SO much pride in what we do. We don't do it for the money...it's much more than that.
