i think people on this site (and people elsewhere with similar tastes and interests) tend to lean a little heavily on queerness as a lens through which to analyze a story. there are a couple reasons for this imo but i think overwhelmingly this occurs because dissecting a text for queer undertones is kind of the only skill some people have picked up because so much of their experience with "media analysis" is rooted in shipping. i don't think this is really all that serious in the grand scheme of things like this is very much a smith college problem however it does make talking about basically anything online super annoying.

#like wrt the way dean's masculinity is discussed in spn fandom (using this as an example bc its easy and relevant) it was always fascinating #to me that people assumed the only explanation for all that was his being closeted when to me there seemed to be an infinite number #of more likely possibilities. i've said this before but it's so absurd to me it's like if the most popular conversation around taxi driver #was whether or not travis bickle is gay. and i'm not even saying you couldn't reasonably defend that reading of the film right #but you must understand that is not the only or even most important lens through which to view the story yes?#*

an incredibly long, draining, at times truly infuriating week spent w my 80 y/o grandma is nearly over.

made all the more difficult because none of the rest of my so-called “family” want anything to do with her, so she feels betrayed and let down on all sides & is incapable of talking about anything for very long without sliding into a tangent about how good things used to be in the past and how awful they are now.

perhaps her modus operandi has always been to find the nearest eldest daughter to terrorise

#I’ve been using this week as a dry run to see what living with her longer term might be like #and I have some concerns as to whether whatever’s wrong with her is the sort of thing that CAN get better over time with company #and a modicum of support #because sometimes I swear to you it seems like she can’t take on new information at all #mostly I observe an abiding terror of everything in the world around her #can’t be fun to live with but like. it’s like the ‘hey dipshit’ comic #motherfucker dude. #my bff' bd is 29th and i wanna make them a cake myself which means i gotta find all the ingredients on our fucked up little mass market #and then not fuck up the recipe which alright i baked that thing before. ONCE. AND IT ALMOST WAS A DISASTER.#luckily my bff's sister is helping me with that and she's buying the easy to find products so that's nice and appreciated #and i won't have to grate like. seven large carrots all by myself. that would be unfortunate #<- girl who did EXACTLY that last year #i also need to get a boclx for the cake and i wanna decorate it so it isn't just. Saw I post I disagreed with you know how it is anyway Crowley would not become an Uber driver he's a mostly-legitimate taxi driver who lied about passing the Knowledge when it was first introduced in 1865 and makes up for it with a few small miracles. You won't get to your destination safely you will get overcharged but you will get there about 20 minutes faster than with anyone else, 40 minutes if it's rush hour and you don't complain about all the pedestrians he nearly runs over

He did take credit for inventing Uber though. Hell were thrilled

#like he'd be a taxi driver for the same reason he made the motorway it's an easy way to spread a bit of misery that radiates outwards #but you have to balance that with 'crowley has never once obeyed little things like traffic laws and is not about to start now'#also he would not use his bentley. in this scenario I don't know What car he'd use but it is for sure not the Bentley #good omens
